Half an hour later, their conversation had nearly concluded, and the tea was finished.
“Mr. Jiang, I am hosting a banquet at my residence tonight, and I hope you can honor us with your presence,” Hua Yuejin invited.
“There’s no need for that. Alright, I’ll take my leave now. Ye Jian Sheng, let’s meet Dean Zeng tomorrow,” Jiang Chen replied, then left with Qin Xiaoya.
Hua Yuejin and Ye Xiaoying stood at the entrance of the teahouse, watching the vehicle carrying Jiang Chen disappear into the distance before coming back to their senses.
“Brother Ye, I can’t help but feel a bit envious of Qin Xiaoya. She gets to stay by Mr. Jiang’s side; it seems Mr. Jiang treats her quite well. My younger relatives are also quite attractive; I wonder if Mr. Jiang would take a liking to them,” Hua Yuejin remarked.
Jiang Chen was powerful and enigmatic, so naturally, Hua Yuejin wanted to establish a connection with him.
“Brother Hua, don’t think too much about it. Someone of Mr. Jiang’s caliber wouldn’t be bound by such trivial matters as romantic feelings. However, from what Mr. Jiang just said, he is indeed a person of great principles,” Ye Xiaoying responded.
“If Mr. Jiang really does serve the government in the future, you’ll be colleagues, and you’ll have more opportunities to interact with him. It seems I should be envious of you now,” Hua Yuejin said.
“That would be wonderful,” Ye Xiaoying smiled.
As Jiang Chen and Qin Xiaoya departed, Qin Xiaoya couldn’t help but ask, “Young Master, are you really planning to serve the government?”
“When they need me, I will naturally step up without hesitation. But for now, with peace in the nation and stability among the people, there is no need for me,” Jiang Chen replied.
“That makes sense,” Qin Xiaoya nodded; she couldn’t quite fathom the young master’s thoughts.
That evening at the Qin family residence, Gu Yu arrived with his son and father to resolve their grievances.
Qin Xiaoya couldn’t be bothered and stayed in her room to sleep while members of the Gu family only managed to persuade her grandfather and parents.
“Brother Gu, regarding your grandson’s matter, I truly have no way to help! This Jiang Chen is too formidable,” Qin Baonan said helplessly.
“Old Qin, who exactly is this Mr. Jiang?” Gu Yu asked cautiously.
“I don’t know much about him; all I can say is that he’s incredibly powerful—you’ve seen it for yourselves. As for your request for me to act as a mediator, I can only express my regret; Mr. Jiang wouldn’t give me that face. My granddaughter Qin Xiaoya won’t assist you either.”
“My suggestion is to wait a while before approaching Mr. Jiang again; it might yield better results then,” Qin Baonan proposed.
“It seems we have no choice but to do so,” Gu Xiangzhou’s grandfather nodded slightly; this matter was far more complicated than he had anticipated. It would be best to let Mr. Jiang cool off first before reconsidering their approach.
The next day at the military district in the capital, in a reception room of a building.
Jiang Chen met with Zeng Xianyi, the president of the Dragon Martial Institute. Zeng Xianyi was quite old—around ninety—but appeared vigorous and looked no older than seventy.
Military personnel were generally straightforward in nature, especially someone like Zeng Xianyi, an old soldier.
"Mr. Jiang, you really are quite young," Zeng Xianyi remarked as he saw Jiang Chen for the first time.
"Zeng Lao, you also look very young," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
"Haha, I'm getting old, getting old. Mr. Jiang, please have a seat," Zeng Xianyi invited Jiang Chen to sit down.
Once they were seated, someone brought in tea. As Zeng Xianyi sipped his tea, he studied Jiang Chen intently. After setting down his cup, he spoke first: "Mr. Jiang, I don't like to beat around the bush. The main reason I invited you here is that I need your help with something, which can also be seen as helping Huaxia."
