The silk warehouse of Feng Company suddenly caught fire. 0

At that moment, Xian Xiang was out shopping with a few classmates, enjoying their free afternoon. As they turned the corner on Nanjing Road, they were met with the sight of roaring flames and thick smoke billowing into the sky. 0

Xian Xiang rushed to the outside of the warehouse, where many workers were frantically trying to extinguish the fire with buckets of water. In the chaotic crowd, there was no sign of Feng Zongran. 0

Just as she was about to breathe a sigh of relief, a foreman shouted, "The owner is still trapped inside!" 0

At this call, several people attempted to enter, but upon seeing the towering flames, they all recoiled in fear. 0

Without a second thought, Xian Xiang dashed forward, picked up a piece of cloth from the ground, and threw a bucket of water over it. 0

Before anyone could stop her, she had already plunged into the sea of flames. 0

The warehouse was a cylindrical structure, and by now, the goods inside were ablaze. 0

Xian Xiang endured the scorching heat as she lowered her body and bent forward, calling out, "Brother Zong Ran! Brother Zong Ran!" 0

But there was no response; only the crackling sound of burning wood and fabric filled the air. 0

Tears streamed down Xian Xiang's face as she prayed for Brother Zong Ran's safety. She promised herself that she would agree to anything he asked if only he could come out unharmed. 0

"Brother Zong Ran! Brother Zong Ran!" Xian Xiang dodged between bursts of flames. 0

The thick smoke choked her, causing her to cough violently. Just then, she heard Feng Zongran's voice nearby: "Who is it? Who's over there?" 0

"Brother Zong Ran!" 0

Xian Xiang joyfully maneuvered around a pile of nearly burnt fabric and saw Feng Zongran supporting an injured worker as they moved forward. The man was clearly hurt and unable to put weight on his right leg. 0

Feng Zongran saw Xian Xiang wrapped in a blanket and exclaimed in surprise, "How did you get in here? It's dangerous!" 0

"They said you were trapped inside, so I came to find you. I'm glad you're okay; let's hurry and get out." Xian Xiang supported the injured worker with her other arm. 0

The smoke grew thicker, and Feng Zongran fell silent as they quickly made their way toward the warehouse door. 0

A burning beam fell from above, crashing down behind them. Feng Zongran broke into a cold sweat, his legs trembling with fear, but he noticed that Xian Xiang still had the strength to support the worker. 0

When they reached the warehouse entrance, two workers covered in wet blankets rushed in and quickly took over the injured man, while Xian Xiang turned to help Feng Zongran. 0

"It's okay now; we're safe," Feng Zongran said reassuringly as he prepared to step out of the warehouse. 0

Suddenly, someone outside shouted, "Watch out!" Before Feng Zongran could react, Xian Xiang shoved him hard. 0

He rolled out of the doorway just as a loud crash echoed behind him. Turning back, he saw that the upper part of the warehouse door had collapsed, burying Xian Xiang beneath the rubble. 0

"Xian Xiang..." Feng Zongran cried out in anguish. 0

The hospital was in chaos as several injured people from the burning warehouse were brought in. 0

Uncle Huai stayed with Feng Zongran in a private room where Xian Xiang lay unconscious on the bed. 0

Fortunately, she hadn't been struck by the main beam; only two crossbeams had injured her head and waist. The doctor said that as long as she woke up, she would recover after some time. 0

Feng Zongran sat by her bedside, his mind replaying over and over again the look of joy on Xian Xiang's face when she found him in the fire, remembering how she had bravely pushed him out just before the roof collapsed. 0

This girl, whom he constantly tried to shake off, had willingly risked her life for him. Was it worth it? 0

He gently held her hand in his palm, recalling the time when he was twelve and his mother brought six-year-old Xian Xiang to him, placing her small hand into his. 0

At that time, her hand was just as tiny. 0

The sound of high heels echoed as Yuan Manling hurried in, saying, "Zongran, are you hurt?" 0

"I'm fine," Feng Zongran replied curtly, his mood not improving. 0

Only then did Yuan Manling notice Xian Xiang lying unconscious on the hospital bed and said with disdain, "What happened to her?" 0

"Xian Xiang got hurt saving me," Feng Zongran said coldly. 0

"What? She went to save you? Hmph, how come she wasn't burned to death in the fire?" Yuan Manling muttered under her breath. 0

Uncle Huai, standing nearby, looked grim, while Feng Zongran turned to glare at Yuan Manling and frowned, saying, "Even if you don't like her, you shouldn't curse her like that!" 0

Realizing she had misspoken, Yuan Manling quickly forced a smile and said, "Oh, I didn't mean it that way. Don't take it to heart. You must have suffered significant losses from the warehouse fire. You should catch up with Tan Yao sometime; he's really capable now and could definitely help you." 0

"Let's talk about it later. Right now, I just want to wait for Xian Xiang to wake up," Feng Zongran said as he looked back at the person on the bed. 0

Yuan Manling grumbled angrily, "If I had known she would be such a worry, I might as well have left her in the countryside." 0
