"Alright, alright, stop waving! Do you want everyone to see you?" I stopped my bike in front of him, playfully scolding. 0

"I don't care about others; I just want you to see!" Gao Jun smiled as he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, then hopped onto his Giant bike. "Come on, I'll take you to see our new home." 0

As we entered the school gate, Gao Jun turned right onto a small path. Confused, I asked, "Isn't this path leading to the playground? Shouldn't we take the main road on the left for the residential buildings?" 0

Gao Jun smiled mysteriously. "Just follow me; you'll be surprised soon!" 0

On the playground, two student soccer teams were fiercely competing, while their cheerleading squads cheered loudly from the sidelines, creating a different kind of rivalry. To the north of the playground was a continuous birch forest that connected with Qingfeng Mountain. Qingfeng Mountain is a famous local attraction, especially in this season of blooming flowers, drawing many tourists for a spring outing. However, the undeveloped back mountain opposite Academy of Fine Arts Playground rarely saw visitors; instead, Academy of Fine Arts students often crossed through the birch forest to sketch. Following Gao Jun, I entered the forest for the first time and discovered a narrow path about two or three meters wide winding deeper into the woods. 0

After riding along the path for fifty or sixty meters, the tree cover grew denser, and the noise from the playground gradually faded away. As we turned the third bend, two rows of exquisite two-story buildings suddenly appeared before me, standing quietly at the end of the road. Gao Jun got off his bike and looked at me with a smile. 0

"Is this where we're going to live?" The green trees, blue tiles, and white walls created a scene that seemed straight out of a painting! Seeing this scene in reality made me feel a bit incredulous. 0

Gao Jun nodded proudly. "I knew you'd love it here. Come on, let's park our bikes; our room is on the second floor of the back row. You'll like it even more once we're inside." 0

From the outside, these two buildings were definitely not ordinary faculty or student dormitories. Unable to contain my curiosity, I asked Gao Jun, "Is this a residential building? With such a nice environment, who lives here?" 0

Instead of answering directly, Gao Jun asked back, "Do you know when our college was established?" 0

"Um, you told me before; it seems like it was in the late seventies?" 0

"That's right." 0

Gao Jun nodded and continued, "At that time, the insightful individuals within the party were preparing to establish an art academy in our city to nurture new talent in the art world. The preparations went smoothly, but we encountered some trouble when it came to hiring professors. Many renowned artists were unwilling to come out of retirement to teach." 0

"Oh," I listened with great interest, not understanding why he was sharing the history of the school's establishment with me now. 0

"The person in charge of the academy's establishment was Mayor Liu, who oversaw cultural education in the city. Mayor Liu knew that these artists had strong personalities, and since they were reluctant to come, he decided not to push them." Gao Jun emphasized the phrase "strong personalities" and gave me a mischievous smile. 0

"They're artists! You’ll be throwing tantrums like them one day!" I knew what Gao Jun's playful smile meant; he also had a stubbornness typical of intellectuals, which I often chided him for. 0

"I will become one of them sooner or later—maybe right after I finish this painting. Do you believe that?" Gao Jun asked me seriously. He had asked me this more than once, and it felt almost like a girl asking a boy, "Do you love me?" If my response wasn't enthusiastic enough, he would sulk for quite a while. 0

"I believe you, of course! So those artists never came?" I quickly changed the subject. 0
