"Great, great!" The woman appeared very pleased. "Now we have neighbors. I really enjoy interacting with young people; it would be boring if an old man moved in." 0

"Teacher He is quite a master. If we can be neighbors with him, we should definitely pay him a visit." The man gently countered his wife's words, his tone very mild. He then introduced himself, saying, "I am Zhao Feng, a teacher who just joined the academy not long ago. You probably don’t know me yet. This is my wife, Jiang Ping." 0

"Hello, Teacher Zhao! Hello, Teacher Jiang!" Gao Jun said politely. 0

Zhao Feng smiled amiably and said, "No need to be so formal. When I'm with young people, I prefer to be a bit casual. Since you just arrived, don’t hesitate to ask if you need any help." 0

"Thank you, Teacher Zhao!" 0

"Hehe, don’t thank me just yet." Zhao Feng pointed to his wife beside him. "If it’s about household matters, it’s better to ask her than me. She’s not much older than you; just call her Jiang Jie." 0

Gao Jun smiled awkwardly and habitually scratched his head. "No, no, it's better to call her Teacher Jiang..." 0

Jiang Ping laughed heartily and said, "Of course, you can call me that if you prefer. Feel free to come to me for anything." With that, she affectionately linked her arm with her husband’s and waved goodbye to us before heading downstairs. 0

The building featured old-fashioned solid concrete stair railings, and the steepness of the stairs made it feel somewhat eerie as they quickly disappeared around the corner from our view. 0

"Having such enthusiastic neighbors is really nice!" Gao Jun said as he exchanged glances with me, looking relieved. 0

"Of course it's nice, especially with a beautiful sister around." My words carried a hint of jealousy. For some reason, I felt an inexplicable sense of rivalry towards the lovely Jiang Ping. Is it true that women are naturally inclined to be jealous? 0

"Is she pretty? I don't see it," Gao Jun pretended to be confused. 0

"Hmph! You're not being sincere!" I scoffed, rolling my eyes. 0

"Alright, alright. You know that in my eyes, you're the most beautiful one; no one can compare to you." Gao Jun opened the door. "Enough of that, let's hurry inside and take a look." 0

Curiosity about the house overcame my desire to bicker further, and I followed Gao Jun inside, taking the first step toward a nightmare. 0

"Not bad," Gao Jun nodded and continued, "At that time, some insightful people in the party were preparing to establish an art academy in our city to nurture new talent for the art world. The preparations went smoothly, but we encountered some trouble when it came to hiring professors. Many well-known artists were unwilling to come out of retirement to teach." 0

"Oh," I listened with interest, not understanding why he was telling me about the school's founding history now. 0

"The person in charge of the academy's establishment was Mayor Liu, who oversaw cultural education in the city. Mayor Liu knew that these artists had strong personalities and tempers; since they were unwilling to come, he didn't push them." Gao Jun emphasized the words "strong personalities and tempers," flashing me a mischievous smile. 0

"Those are artists! You'll be one of them throwing tantrums someday too!" I knew what Gao Jun's sly smile meant; he had a stubbornness typical of intellectuals, which I often scolded him for. 0

"I will become one of them sooner or later—maybe right after I finish this painting. Do you believe that?" Gao Jun asked me seriously. 0
