"A Jian" pointed towards a spot under the locust tree. 0

"Yue Ran" gritted her teeth, rolled up her sleeves, and charged forward, slamming her hand on the small wooden table. "Hey, fortune teller, help me read my palm!" Before she could finish her sentence, she froze upon seeing the person before her. 0

Across from her sat a young man dressed in a simple white shirt. He set down a bamboo stick, revealing pale skin and a thin face with full lips. When he looked up, his eyes held a distant emptiness, as if untouched by the world. 0

He smiled gently. "I wonder what this young lady wishes to inquire about? Future, fortune, or perhaps romance?" 0

It took "Yue Ran" a moment to regain her composure after he repeated his question twice. 0

Her face flushed instantly as she awkwardly replied, "I… I want to know about my fortune." 0

The young man slowly extended his hand. His fingers were long and cool, gently tracing the lines in her palm, sending a ticklish sensation through her. 0

Only then did "Yue Ran" realize that his pupils were large and dark, but there was no focus in his gaze—he was blind! 0

"You were born into a scholarly family but lost your parents at a young age. This year, the Year of Ren Chen, brings great misfortune accompanied by the Red Luan Star." 0

He smiled faintly as he lightly scratched her palm. "You might find yourself infatuated with a man you've only met once..." 0

"You— you—" "Yue Ran" suddenly stood up, her face burning as she slammed the table again but couldn't finish her thought: this man was utterly shameless! 0

Before she could think of any insults, "A Jian" sprang forward, lifting the table and throwing a punch at the young man—only then did she remember that slamming the table was their signal. 0

However, the situation had spiraled out of control. Seeing the commotion, those waiting in line for fortune-telling were in an uproar, and nearby vendors hurriedly packed up their stalls. Someone shouted, "They're fighting! They're fighting!" 0

Yue Ran felt like crying but had no tears left, while A Jian seemed to be facing an enemy, delivering blows without holding back. 0

In no time, when Yue Ran managed to stop A Jian, the man on the ground was curled up, clutching his chest, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. 0

At the other end of the street, a few patrol officers noticed the situation and rushed over. "What’s going on over there?! Stop!" 0

A Jian grabbed Yue Ran and fled into an alley on the east side of Tongzheng Street. In the chaos, Yue Ran glanced back and saw the man lying on the ground, wiping the blood from his mouth. His unfocused gaze was fixed on her as he chuckled softly, "You will come looking for me again." 0

Sure enough, early the next morning, Yue Ran returned to Tongzheng Street with A Jian. 0

Following the address given in the telegram, she made her way to No. 132 Tongzheng Street and found the man lying naked on an ornate bed. His pale chest was bound with bandages, and an elderly woman, around ninety years old, was using a handkerchief to wipe his body. The man’s handsome brow was slightly furrowed as cold sweat dripped down. 0

The sight of his bare body against the somewhat faded lotus-colored quilt made Yue Ran blush despite her education; she turned away in surprise and embarrassment. 0

This time, A Jian was left speechless. He stared wide-eyed at the blind fortune-teller he had nearly beaten to death yesterday, now referred to by Mr. Yue as a life-saving expert. 0

The room was simply furnished but clean; the furniture looked like it was from the sixties or seventies and appeared somewhat worn. 0

The man seemed unsurprised that they had come looking for him. With a faint smile playing at his lips, he weakly said, "Bi'er, let them sit down first." 0

The elderly woman complied and trembled as she prepared tea for Yue Ran and A Jian. However, upon seeing Yue Ran, her eyes widened in shock, and her legs gave way as she nearly knelt down. "M-Miss..." 0

"Hey? What's wrong, ma'am?" Yue Ran and A Jian exclaimed in surprise as they quickly helped her up. The old woman's cloudy eyes scanned Yue Ran's face several times before she finally calmed down. 0

However, the old woman did not respond. She simply walked into the adjacent room, murmuring to herself, "So similar, too similar." 0
