"Li Brother, why don't we head back for now? We can come back when Clan Leader Liao's injuries are a bit better," Zeng Xianyi suggested, realizing that causing a scene in the hospital wasn't the solution.
Although Li Yang was furious, he understood that Liao Yangmai was deliberately avoiding him. With Zeng Xianyi providing him an out, he hesitated for a moment before deciding to take the hint.
"Clan Leader Liao, since you're not feeling well today, I'll come by another day to visit. Take care of yourself; Xiangxi can't do without you," Li Yang said loudly, deliberately directing his words toward the sickroom where Liao Yangmai was, emphasizing the last few words.
After speaking, Li Yang turned away reluctantly, preparing to leave. Zeng Xianyi followed suit, but just a few steps out, they noticed Jiang Chen hadn't moved.
"Mr. Jiang, let's go," Zeng Xianyi reminded him.
"Since we're here, why leave without at least saying hello? I'll knock on the door; maybe he'll see us," Jiang Chen replied casually. He believed that the esteemed person Liao Yangmai had mentioned was likely himself. As for how he knew this, it didn't matter.
"See us? Mr. Jiang, you're quite the jokester. Liao Yangmai clearly doesn't want to meet anyone today. My face didn't work; do you really think yours will?" Li Yang snapped back irritably, his frustration boiling over with Jiang Chen's comment.
"He may not care about your face, but he should respect mine," Jiang Chen said with a smile before stepping forward and calling into the sickroom.
"Liao Yangmai, this is Jiang Chen. Open the door."
His words were light and devoid of any emotional fluctuation, as if he were merely making a casual remark.
Li Yang and the others were caught off guard by Jiang Chen's sudden action. Once they regained their composure, Li Yang couldn't help but chuckle. "Mr. Jiang, shouting like that won't do any good."
The four divine beasts under Li Yang's command also found it amusing and watched with anticipation.
Creak!
Just as everyone prepared to witness Jiang Chen's embarrassment, the door to the sickroom swung open.
Several high-ranking members of the Liao Family hurried out. They recognized Jiang Chen's name since Liao Yangmai had been mentioning him frequently over the past few days.
Inside the sickroom, upon hearing Jiang Chen's voice, Liao Yangmai nearly sat up in shock from his sickbed, his expression shifting from disbelief to elation. Unable to move himself, he quickly instructed a few of the Liao Family members present to open the door.
"Mr. Jiang! So it's you!" The high-ranking members of the Liao Family greeted him respectfully upon seeing the young man at their doorstep, as if they were encountering an ancestor.
Witnessing the Liao Family's attitude towards Jiang Chen left those who had been ready to mock him stunned into silence.
"This kid really managed to get Liao Yangmai to open the door," Li Yang whispered in shock.
"Mr. Jiang might just be the esteemed person Clan Leader Liao has been waiting for," Ye Xiaoying remarked with a smile.
Earlier in the car, when Li Yang mentioned that Liao Yangmai believed there was an esteemed person in Huaxia, Ye Xiaoying had suspected that this person might be Jiang Chen. Now seeing how the Liao Family treated him erased any doubts she had.
"This... how is this possible?" Li Yang exclaimed in disbelief. Just hours ago in the car, he had expressed his admiration for this esteemed person and had even sarcastically compared Jiang Chen to him. He never expected that the highly anticipated figure for Liao Yangmai would turn out to be none other than Jiang Chen himself.
This was supposed to be a good thing, but for Li Yang, it turned out to be quite awkward.
When Jiang Chen entered the hospital room, Li Yang and the others also wanted to go in. However, as soon as they stepped inside, they were pushed out by a group from the Liao Family.
