With the wicked Immortal Decree in her possession, Jiu Jiu stepped into the East Sea Dragon Palace, her heart racing with trepidation. 0

She moved cautiously, and when she inadvertently met a pair of black eyes, a chill ran down her spine. 0

As a Disciple of the Food God, she was all too familiar with that gaze. 0

Whenever her master spotted a rare ingredient, that was the look he would wear. She held her breath, afraid to move, while inwardly cursing the group of Shixiongdi back in the Heavenly Court who lacked compassion. 0

She had thought such a fortunate opportunity would never fall into her hands—just cooking a few meals to officially earn the title of Food God. Little did she know that the master she was to serve was… 0

“You look like you’d be quite delicious.” 0

The owner of those eyes spoke slowly, licking his lips in a way that made Jiu Jiu shudder. 0

“...Thank you for the compliment.” After living for over a thousand years, this was the first time Jiu Jiu had been complimented face-to-face. 0

However, at this moment, she would rather not receive such praise. 0

The young man scrutinized her with great interest before turning to the Dragon King seated on his throne. “Father, can I eat her right now?” 0

“Of course not!” The Dragon King chuckled awkwardly. “Don’t be foolish, my son.” 0

The boy blinked innocently. “Isn’t she an ingredient sent by the Heavenly Court?” 0

Jiu Jiu's heart sank, and she struggled to speak, "No, I'm a chef." 0

Fearing he wouldn't believe her, she pulled out the Immortal Decree from her bosom to prove her identity. 0

The young man pouted in dissatisfaction, "But I think you would be better suited as an ingredient. Why not consider it?" 0

"…I appreciate your misguided affection, Your Highness, but I’m not looking to change careers at the moment." 0

Jiu Jiu forced a smile. 0

Noticing the awkward atmosphere, the Dragon King quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Miss Jiu Jiu is the most esteemed disciple of the Food God; the dishes she creates are surely unparalleled in the world." 0

Upon hearing "unparalleled," the young man's eyes lit up. "Really?" 0

"Of course," the Dragon King replied with a slight smile. 0

"Then fine, I'll hold off for now. If what she makes doesn't suit my taste, I'll just eat her instead." 0

The young man smiled slightly, revealing two sharp little tiger teeth, which made Jiu Jiu feel a chill run down her spine. 0

Listening to the conversation between father and son, Jiu Jiu nearly stumbled, four words flashing through her mind—my life is over. 0

Having spent hundreds of years in the Heavenly Court as the Food God's disciple, she knew better than anyone her own capabilities. While she could perhaps fool others, now she had to serve the world's greatest gourmet—Tao Tie! 0

Jiu Jiu felt a wave of dizziness wash over her, and just then, Tao Tie turned back to her with a toothy grin. "By the way, you remember what I like to eat, right? If you don't make it well, I might just eat you instead." 0

The chef, who held the fate of all culinary delights in her hands, now found herself in a situation where she could end up being eaten. Was there anything more tragic than this? 0

In the opulent kitchen, Jiu Jiu pretended to pick up a large spoon, her eyes darting around as she tried to devise an escape route. Before she could figure anything out, a familiar voice rang in her ears. "Tell me, do you think Steaming is more delicious or Deep-Fried?" 0

He stood at the doorway in white robes, his gaze fixed intently on Jiu Jiu, making her feel as if she were on a chopping block. 0

She swallowed hard and forced a laugh. "Honestly, I think the most delicious things are those you can see but can't taste." 0

Tao Tie's lips curled into a strange smile as he moved behind Jiu Jiu, tilting his head to examine the ingredients on the stone counter. "You have a point there." 0

Before Jiu Jiu could calm her racing heart, he continued, "So you'd better stay within my sight so I can truly appreciate the delicacy you mentioned." 0

Jiu Jiu managed to squeeze out a smile that looked more like a grimace. "…Okay." 0

But then he suddenly darkened his expression and pretended to bite her. Seeing Jiu Jiu freeze in fear made him smile again as he ruffled her hair playfully. "If you dare to run away this time, I really will eat you." 0
