Jiu Jiu and Tao Tie had a rather uneventful past, one could even say it was quite dull. 0

Five hundred years ago, when Jiu Jiu had yet to become an immortal, she was merely a little demon in the human realm who enjoyed cooking. Tao Tie, on the other hand, was not the prince of the Dragon Palace; he was just a Gourmet traveling through the human world with a turtle. 0

Their encounter took place on a desolate mountain peak. 0

Starving, Tao Tie discovered the only living creature on the mountain—Jiu Jiu—and intended to swallow her whole. 0

Naturally, Jiu Jiu would not sit idly by. After much negotiation, she managed to exchange some snacks she had prepared a few days prior for her life. In that moment, her culinary skills saved her; Tao Tie praised her food and decided not to eat her after all. However, in exchange, Jiu Jiu had to stay by his side to satisfy his cravings. 0

And so began their three hundred years together. 0

If it weren't for what happened later, Jiu Jiu thought that following Tao Tie for a lifetime wouldn’t be such a bad thing, aside from his terrible temper. But she had forgotten that Tao Tie initially wanted to eat her. 0

Had it not been for her cooking skills, she might have already become a meal for him. 0

One day, she jokingly asked Tao Tie, “If what I make is absolutely terrible, would you just kick me out?” 0

Tao Tie lounged back with his legs crossed and laughed nonchalantly, “Of course not.” 0

“Really?” Jiu Jiu felt her heart leap into her throat. 0

He tilted his head and smirked, “If what you make is inedible, but you still have some use to me.” 0

“Like what?” 0

"You smell so good, of course I'm going to eat you!" He grinned wickedly. 0

Indeed, he would eat her. What was she thinking to have any expectations of a Gourmet like Tao Tie? Fortunately, she valued her life enough not to fall for someone to the point of sacrificing herself, so she escaped. 0

That night, Jiu Jiu prepared a bowl of Eight Treasure Porridge for Tao Tie. She had added a bit of the soul-binding powder she had tricked from the Land God, specifically designed to deal with deities. 0

After that, she fled with the Spoon that Tao Tie had given her. Later, she caught the attention of the Food God and inadvertently became his disciple in the heavenly realm. 0

Jiu Jiu still remembered the look of pity in the Food God's eyes when she ascended—"Alas, what a pity for such a good seed." 0

In truth, Jiu Jiu didn’t feel pitiful at all. Without Tao Tie, she still had the Spoon; later, when the Spoon was destroyed by Tao Tie, she still had her life. 0

She touched her face and thought that even a Spoon was more loyal than Tao Tie. At least it knew how to repay her before its demise and didn’t ruin her face. 0

She sighed, "You all go back now; I’ll tidy up and prepare a wedding banquet for you." Thanks to that brainless Third Princess, she decided to leave them with a grand gift before departing. This banquet would surely be unforgettable for them. 0

The wedding banquet of the East Sea Dragon Prince and South Sea Third Princess was far from the grandeur one might imagine. 0

Whether it was Tao Tie's intention or not, although there were many dishes laid out that night, very few actually attended the banquet; at most, they could fill one table. 0

Jiu Jiu looked suspiciously at the scene before her, weighing the Spoon in her hand that she was still getting used to. Could it be that Tao Tie saw through her plan? 0

Before she could figure it out, the Turtle Prime Minister unexpectedly popped up from somewhere, his old face beaming with delight. 0

Jiu Jiu instinctively slapped the Spoon against his face. 0

This time, Turtle Prime Minister was not as lucky as before and had a close encounter with the Spoon. 0

"Wang Ba, are you trying to ambush me?" Jiu Jiu rolled her eyes. 0

Turtle Prime Minister rubbed his face and chuckled awkwardly, "No, no, no. I just have a question I’d like to ask." 0

Jiu Jiu retracted the Spoon and shrugged, "Aren't you just curious about why I knocked out Tao Tie and ran away?" 0

Turtle Prime Minister shook his head, "Jiu Yatou, you guessed wrong. I'm simply curious. When the Dragon King went to the Heavenly Court to hire a chef, knowing that the one to be served was His Highness the Prince, why did you take on this Immortal Decree task?" 0

Jiu Jiu paused her motion with the Spoon for a moment before laughing carefreely, "You must be mistaken, Wang Ba. I’ve said it before; I was tricked by my senior brothers." 0

After all, she was indeed tricked by Shixiongdi. 0

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have come to this ridiculous Dragon Palace to serve that indifferent Gourmet. 0

Turtle Prime Minister didn’t argue further. He stroked his beard and changed the subject, "By the way, Jiu Yatou, it’s been over a hundred years since we last met. What made you suddenly disappear back then? It took this old bone of mine and His Highness quite a bit of effort to find you; we suffered quite a lot." 0

Jiu Jiu's heart skipped a beat. "Find me? What are you talking about?" 0

She instinctively took a step back, her gaze evasive. 0

But the Turtle Prime Minister smiled without speaking, his eyes revealing a hint of deeper meaning. 0

Jiu Jiu, feeling conflicted, wanted to say something more when suddenly a wall of flesh appeared before her. 0

She looked up and was met with the furious face of Tao Tie. "Do you really dislike me this much? So much that you can't even be bothered to cook for me properly?" 0

Tao Tie's voice was low and suppressed, tinged with a barely noticeable hurt. 0

Jiu Jiu glanced at him, shrugged her shoulders, and replied with a hint of helplessness in her tone, "This is just my level." 0

With a loud bang, Tao Tie smashed the table beside him, splintering wood everywhere and drawing the attention of those around them. 0

"Your level? You can't even distinguish between sweet and sour? From the very beginning, you were eager to leave me, weren't you? I only asked you to make a bowl of sweet porridge, and you managed to turn it sour!" He pointed at Jiu Jiu, his eyes filled with accusation. 0

So it was because of that bowl of porridge that Tao Tie hadn't come to trouble her afterward? Did he think she hated him and was desperate to escape from him, just like two hundred years ago? 0

Jiu Jiu suddenly felt a deep sense of helplessness. She slowly said, "Then may I ask, Your Highness, what can you expect from a chef who has lost their sense of taste for over two hundred years?" 0

She lifted her chin slightly, her eyes showing a trace of defiance. 0

What would happen when a chef who couldn't create delicious dishes encountered the gluttonous Gourmet? Would she be devoured by him? Or would they part ways? 0
