Lin Xiaxia suddenly opened her eyes, finding herself lying on an intricately carved wooden bed, surrounded by the fragrant scent of herbs. A sharp pain throbbed in her head as she struggled to sit up, only to realize she was wearing a plain-colored ru skirt, the cuffs embroidered with delicate intertwining lotus patterns. 0

"Miss is awake!" a clear voice rang out, and a young maid of about fourteen or fifteen hurried into the room. "I'll go fetch the doctor right away." 0

Lin Xiaxia grasped the maid's wrist. "Wait, where is this? What time is it?" 0

The maid was startled by her sudden movement. "Miss, this is the Lin Family Villa in the west of Chang'an City. Today is the seventh day of the third month in the twenty-third year of Kaiyuan." 0

Lin Xiaxia was taken aback. The twenty-third year of Kaiyuan? That was the year 735 AD! She looked down at her hands, which had once been calloused from years of holding surgical instruments but were now delicate and fair. Memories flooded back; she recalled feeling dizzy while on night duty at the hospital and then waking up here. 0

"Miss, are you alright? Do you feel unwell?" the maid asked with concern. 0

Lin Xiaxia took a deep breath. "I'm fine, just a bit dizzy. By the way, what is my name?" 0

The maid's eyes widened in surprise. "Miss, you don't remember? You are the third young lady of the Lin family, known as Xiaoxia." 0

Lin Xiaxia forced a smile; it seemed she had not only traveled through time but had also taken the place of an ancient girl with the same name. She glanced around the room, which was adorned with antique furnishings, and noticed several medical books on a table. She walked over and opened one to find it was a handwritten copy of "Qian Jin Fang." 0

"Miss, why are you reading medical books?" the maid asked curiously. "You used to dislike these." 0

Lin Xiaxia's heart stirred; it appeared that her counterpart had been a noble young lady who did not enjoy studying medicine. Just as she was about to respond, a commotion erupted outside. 0

"Not good! Someone's been injured ahead!" a servant rushed into the courtyard. "It's the young master of the Li family; he was kicked by a horse!" 0

Without thinking, Lin Xiaxia grabbed the medicine box from the table and ran outside after the servant. She followed him to the front courtyard where a young man lay on the ground, his face pale and his right leg mangled. 0

"Let me see," Lin Xiaxia said as she crouched down and gently lifted up his pant leg. The wound was deep, exposing bone, and it was already beginning to swell. 0

"Miss, are you a doctor?" a man who appeared to be a steward asked. "We've sent someone to summon Imperial Physician Wang from the Imperial Medical Office." 0

Lin Xiaxia shook her head. "It will be too late by then. Go boil a pot of water and bring clean cotton cloth and strong liquor." 0

The crowd exchanged glances, unsure of what she intended to do. Lin Xiaxia had no time to explain; she took out silver needles from her medicine box, heated them over fire, and then inserted them into several acupuncture points on the injured man's leg. 0

"Miss, what are you doing?" the maid whispered. 0

"Stopping the bleeding," Lin Xiaxia replied tersely. In modern medicine, acupuncture does have some effectiveness in stopping bleeding; though she wasn't sure if it would work in this situation, it was better than doing nothing. 0

Soon enough, the servant returned with boiling water and liquor. Lin Xiaxia used the hot water to clean the wound before pouring in liquor for disinfection. The injured man fainted from pain, but thankfully his bleeding stopped. 0

"Hurry, lift him onto the bed! I need clean gauze and bandages," Lin Xiaxia instructed. 0

The crowd scrambled to carry him into a guest room. Lin Xiaxia carefully examined the wound and sighed in relief when she found that no arteries had been damaged. She bandaged up the injury and prepared a prescription for clearing heat and detoxifying. 0

"Remember to wash the wound with diluted saltwater every day and change the dressings on time," Lin Xiaxia advised the steward. "If he develops a fever or if the wound becomes infected, come find me immediately." 0

The butler nodded repeatedly, "Thank you for saving my life, Miss. I will return to report to the master right away." 0
