Mo Wen knew that the waves coming this way would grow larger and more intense, but he wasn't worried about his Cave and Xiao Hei being submerged by lava. Before excavating the Cave, he had thoroughly investigated the area. The previous waves that had submerged his Cave had not engulfed the island, so although the retreating waves were fierce, they were only a fraction as powerful as before and could not possibly submerge the island.
Watching the surging Lava Sea, Mo Wen felt his mood lift significantly, and the oppressive feeling in his chest began to dissipate. He turned to head back to the Cave to start his research. Just as he lifted his foot, a large wave crashed onto the island with a resounding "thud!" Mo Wen frowned; the previously fading gloom surged back into his heart. Although it caught him off guard this time, he quickly discerned that the sound came from nearby. He hurried back to the Cave to check the sensing Magic Circle, which showed no signs of disturbance. Now he could confirm that the sound was unrelated to Xiao Hei. The reason he had set up the sensing Magic Circle was primarily to ensure Xiao Hei's safety and also because he suspected that any disturbances might be caused by Xiao Hei's metamorphosis.
It seemed that he couldn't focus on his work until he clarified the source of that bell-like sound. After weighing his options, he moved a Pillow outside the Cave, sitting cross-legged on it with closed eyes, listening intently to the sounds around him. He remained in this position for two days; aside from the increasingly urgent Feng Sheng bell sound, nothing else occurred. Feeling anxious as he sensed the wind picking up, Mo Wen realized that if this wind continued to accelerate, he wouldn't be able to stay outside much longer. Given his small stature, he wouldn't withstand such fierce winds; those Demon Beasts that had been blown away were many times heavier than him.
He moved the Pillow to the entrance of the Cave so that even if a strong wind hit, he could return inside quickly or at least be blown into the Cave. He continued to listen carefully to the surrounding sounds while extending his senses to monitor changes in the lava at the Foot of the Mountain.
The wind grew stronger, and stones carried by it struck against the nearby rock walls, creating small dents. Strangely, there were no significant waves appearing on the sea surface. Mo Wen knew he could no longer remain outside; reluctantly, he stood up and returned to the Cave. He removed most of the Magic Circles, leaving only essential protections in place, and sat cross-legged inside while continuing to pay attention to external disturbances. His intuition told him that clues about what he sought were likely nearby. At that moment, a massive Lava wave approached the island.
"Thud!" Rocks fell from the walls of the Cave as if it were about to collapse entirely. Mo Wen, sitting on the ground, didn't mind these occurrences; instead, he felt as though his entire head was shaking from the dull impact sounds. Shaking his head in surprise, he realized that his efforts had finally paid off—he had pinpointed the source of that sound: it was generated by massive Lava waves crashing against the island's rock walls beneath him. The walls of the Cave continued to shed stones as he hurriedly stood up to set up more Magic Circles.
"Why does it make such strange sounds?" After tidying up the disarrayed Cave and sitting at the Stone Table, Mo Wen began talking to himself. Since arriving on this island, he had conducted thorough inspections because he needed to ensure Xiao Hei's safety here; thus, he had been meticulous and found nothing unusual. He had experienced the thunderous roar of giant waves crashing against Mountain Body before; it was entirely different from this sound. Moreover, when observing from outside the Cave earlier, there had been waves striking against the island without producing this "thud" sound.
