A series of questions flooded Mo Wen's mind. Despite his carefulness, he had ultimately overlooked this hidden danger. However, for now, there was only the sound and no other abnormalities, and the surroundings showed no signs of activity from any Demon Beasts. The raging winds outside made it impossible to check what was causing the noise.
"Sigh, my strength is still lacking," Mo Wen thought. Each time he encountered a situation like this, it left him feeling deeply hurt. This pain stemmed from the limitations of his Realm; if only he could raise his Realm, perhaps he would have noticed the anomalies on this island. At that moment, he truly felt trapped, unable to advance or retreat. He extended his perception downward but found nothing. His divine sense was effective in open spaces, yet before the Mountain Body formed from solidified lava, it could only penetrate about ten feet deep. At that depth, he detected no abnormalities; the entire Mountain Body was tightly sealed, showing no signs of cracks despite having just endured the violent waves.
After another round of exploration yielded no results, he found himself exhausted. Once he calmed down and summarized his findings, he reached a conclusion: the reason he hadn’t discovered any issues thus far was due to insufficient information. Sitting at the Stone Table, he redirected his attention to the outside situation. The wind grew stronger, and the stones carried by it became larger. Mo Wen also sensed several smaller Winged Beasts being swept away deeper into the Lava Sea by the wind.
“Boom!…”
“Boom!…”
……
"Ah, I see now; careful observation is indeed essential." Mo Wen opened his eyes with a look of realization. Although he didn’t understand everything completely, he had certainly gained much more insight than before. The lava waves continued to crash against the island one after another, but not every impact produced a deep bell-like sound. Over two days, the booming noise had occurred only three times, each time coinciding with a massive wave crashing down. He also confirmed one thing: as long as this island remained intact, both he and Xiao Hei were safe here—at least until the winds and waves calmed down.
"Then I'll wait until the storm passes before investigating further." After two days of observation regarding the source of the sound, he had formed a plan in his mind. If his guesses were correct, there could be great dangers but also great opportunities ahead. Mo Wen preferred to believe in the latter since luck seemed to be on his side.
On this stormy night, it was indeed a good time for sleep. Having made up his mind, he stopped focusing on the outside situation and checked on Xiao Hei before returning to his Cave. He reinforced the Magic Circle once more and lay down on his bed to sleep. After waking up, he resumed his previously paused "project"—organizing his collection. As for realizing his designs, that would have to wait; until he understood his circumstances better, it felt like sitting on a volcano's edge.
After tidying up his collection again, he recalled that some of the refined materials were not perfect. Thus, he re-refined them and divided them according to weapon-making standards. Looking at the colorful materials on the Storage Device shelf filled him with satisfaction; this organization had significantly increased his storage space. Next came crafting some useful items; with materials at hand, it was time to enhance both weapons and tools.
For two months, Mo Wen busied himself in the Cave while outside, the storms gradually calmed down. A large number of adventurers would soon arrive as well; it was time for him and Xiao Hei to investigate further for their safety.
