The knocking on the door persisted.
"Su Xiao Qiao, open the door." It was Jiang Chi's voice.
"Go away! I don't want to see you!" I shouted from under the covers.
"I have something to say to you."
"I don't want to hear it!"
There was silence outside for a moment, then I heard the sound of a key card unlocking the door.
I shot up from my bed, glaring at Jiang Chi as he walked in. "Who let you in?"
Ignoring my anger, he walked straight to my bedside and looked down at me.
"Why are you crying?" he asked, frowning.
"None of your business!" I turned my head away.
He sighed, sat down beside me, and reached out to wipe my tears, but I swatted his hand away.
"Su Xiao Qiao," he grabbed my wrist to keep me from moving, his tone a mix of helplessness and something else, "just let me finish."
I sniffed and glared at him.
"I admit that at first, pretending to be your boyfriend was just to deal with my dad and the Lin family," he said seriously, looking into my eyes. "But later... it became different."
"Seeing you get jealous when I was rumored to be with other girls, seeing you pretend to be indifferent when you clearly cared, seeing you flustered by even the smallest bit of care from me..."
He paused and gave a self-deprecating smile. "Su Xiao Qiao, it seems like... I also got caught up in this act."

I doubted my ears.

"What... what did you say?" I asked dumbfoundedly.

He caught my hand and kissed it gently. "I just wanted to confirm. I was afraid I was being overly sentimental."
My face turned crimson, almost as if it were bleeding.
"So... what about us now..."
"What do you think?" He raised an eyebrow, a smile dancing in his eyes. "As for 'Imposter Girlfriend' Su Xiao Qiao, given your good performance, the organization has decided to promote you. Do you agree?"
I looked at his handsome face so close to mine and nodded vigorously.
In the next moment, he leaned down and kissed me.

Life after the promotion seemed... not much different from what I had imagined? Jiang Chi was still the same Jiang Chi; he didn't hold back when it came to teasing me or ordering me around.
The only difference was that after teasing me, he would pull me in for a kiss, and after giving me orders, he would massage my shoulders.
