Lou Yijing indeed possessed exceptional talent, but her mindset was impure, and at her age, it was difficult to change her perspective. Jiang Chen could only use his divine powers to intimidate her, urging her not to cause trouble and to be of use to him and Huaxia. As for taking her as a disciple, that was unnecessary.
“Oh, fine.” Although Liu Liangmei still had her doubts, she held back for the moment and chose not to inquire further. As long as Jiang Chen did not intend to take Lou Yijing as a student or had any romantic interest in her, that was sufficient.
“Mr. Jiang, let’s check out the night market! I saw you drink a few glasses of red wine earlier without having anything to eat. The night market in Bao Bei City is known for its delicious food!” Liu Liangmei shifted the topic, and the atmosphere became light again.
“Then let’s go take a look. I’ve heard a lot about the Bao Bei night market,” Jiang Chen replied with a smile. In his past life, Bao Island had produced many famous singers, and one could often see them strolling through the night market in entertainment gossip. In this life, he wasn’t interested in such celebrity news, but he had liked a few singers from Bao Island in his previous life.
Thinking of this made Jiang Chen smile; perhaps he could meet those Treasure Island singers he once admired?
“Mr. Jiang, what are you smiling about?” Liu Liangmei asked curiously when she noticed Jiang Chen suddenly grinning.
“I was wondering if I might see some stars from Bao Island at the night market. A long time ago, I used to quite like a few singers from there,” Jiang Chen said with a chuckle.
“Uh...” Liu Liangmei was taken aback by Jiang Chen’s words; she found herself at a loss for words. The idea of Jiang Chen and Treasure Island singers seemed worlds apart.
“Mr. Jiang, you must be joking! They’re just entertainment stars; we martial artists usually don’t pay attention to them,” Liu Liangmei replied. Naturally, she had no feelings towards those celebrities; after all, she was about the same age as Jiang Chen’s mother. For someone from that era, it would indeed be difficult to be starstruck given the lack of information available back then.
“Haha, living in this world means we should enjoy some of its mundane pleasures. Come on, let’s go eat at the night market,” Jiang Chen said with an easy smile.
Liu Liangmei looked somewhat strange; she was clearly older than Jiang Chen, yet his calm demeanor made her feel as though she were not over fifty but rather a fifteen-year-old girl in his presence. However, now that Jiang Chen mentioned singers and stars as if he had once been a fan himself, Liu Liangmei felt for a moment that he truly was just a young man in his twenties.
“How strange,” Liu Liangmei murmured.
While Jiang Chen and Liu Liangmei went to explore the night market, Lou Yijing returned to her room after entertaining some guests. She closed the door and took out the Shuangyue Jade Pendant from a wooden box.
The Shuangyue Jade Pendant combined into one piece resembled a full moon; when separated, it appeared as two halves of a moon. The jade pendant wasn’t very smooth; it felt somewhat rough to the touch and wasn’t pure white or emerald green but rather a grayish-white color, reminiscent of a hazy moon on an overcast day.
If one disregarded the significance of the Shuangyue Jade Pendant, it probably wouldn’t be worth much; even a thief might hesitate before stealing it.
“What does that guy want with this Shuangyue Jade Pendant?” Lou Yijing murmured with confusion. The Shuangyue Jade Pendant held great significance for Zhai Yue Pavilion, but for others, it truly didn’t hold much value.
“Since you want it so badly, I’ll give it to you,” Lou Yijing suddenly smiled as she put away the Shuangyue Jade Pendant. Then she took out another Shuangyue Jade Pendant from her vanity drawer; this one was identical in texture and appearance to the previous one.
