"Don't move! Guiyang Police Station is on the case!" Director Zhou shouted, brandishing his gun.
In an instant, the scene became even more chaotic. Several thugs attempted to raise their guns in retaliation but were swiftly subdued by the police who were already prepared. A few henchmen tried to take advantage of the confusion to escape into the woods, only to be caught by Lin Mingchang and Shen Tong, who had been lying in wait.
Seeing that the situation had turned against him, Long Tianming turned pale. He grabbed the two suited men, trying to flee down a narrow path, but Zheng Jianfei leaped off his motorcycle and blocked their way.
"Where do you think you're going, Mr. Long?" Zheng Jianfei sneered, casually waving a pair of handcuffs.
Just like that, Long Tianming, the intermediary of the deal, and the buyer's inspector were all captured. Once the police had fully controlled the situation, Director Zhou ordered his men to begin inspecting the cargo on the truck.
When they opened the wooden crates on the truck, they found that the outer layer was filled with local fruits from Guiyang, while inside were neatly arranged small wooden boxes containing Gu Poison in small Porcelain Bottles.
"Goodness, if these things got out, who knows how many people would be harmed," Director Zhou remarked, gently tapping on one of the wooden boxes. He then turned to Lin Mingchang and his companions, stepping forward to shake hands with both Lin Mingchang and Fang Zigui. "Thanks to you all!"
Zheng Jianfei also approached Director Zhou and the four of them. "This operation was a great success; we have solid evidence against Long Tianming. I've already arranged for personnel to simultaneously seal off Tianming Industries and their warehouses. We must find all his research materials on Gu Poison and destroy them completely."
After the case was cracked, the Flower Mountain Festival in Guiyang City continued. As night fell, bonfires were lit in the train station square, and Miao girls dressed in their finest attire danced gracefully around them.
The four of them were also invited to participate in the festivities of the Flower Mountain Festival. Shen Tong and Xiaoshuang specially changed into two sets of traditional Miao clothing adorned with exquisite silver flowers and colorful embroidery.
As Lin Mingchang looked at the newly dressed Shen Tong, he was momentarily taken aback, unable to tear his eyes away. "I didn't expect you to look so beautiful in Miao attire; it suits you perfectly."
Feeling a blush rise to her cheeks, Shen Tong shot him a playful glare before lowering her head to adjust her skirt.
The four joined the circle of dancers around the bonfire. Although their movements were uncoordinated at first, they quickly caught onto the cheerful rhythm.
As the moon reached its zenith and most people had dispersed, only the four of them remained sitting beside a small bonfire.
They all felt a bit reluctant to end this wonderful evening. The thought of the upcoming journey to Lijiang, fraught with challenges, left them in silence.
As the campfire gradually died down, the four returned to the inn, each packing their belongings in preparation for their departure to Yunnan Lijiang the next afternoon.
The next day, Zhou Fengchun, the Police Chief, personally came to Guiyang Railway Station to see them off. He had prepared a large bag of local specialties from Guiyang and insisted on giving it to Lin Mingchang.
"Don't be polite! Thanks to your help this time, Long Tianming has confessed to quite a few things. We are currently investigating his accomplices in both Yunnan and Guizhou," he said.
Zheng Jianfei and Peng Zai also came specifically to bid farewell. Zheng Jianfei patted Lin Mingchang on the shoulder and said, "Take care, brother. If you ever need my help in the future, don’t hesitate to ask."
The four waved goodbye to those seeing them off as the train slowly started moving, the sound of wheels clashing against the tracks growing faster.
The train carried them through the mountains of Guizhou, heading towards the unknown and perilous Yunnan Lijiang.
