The chaos of the ancient fortress was like a sudden storm, arriving swiftly and departing just as quickly.
Lucius's rebellion pierced Leonard's plans like a sharp dagger, leaving the mercenaries, who were as fickle as reeds in the wind, utterly lost.
Yet our Xiao Luna remained as steady as ever, clutching the magic stone with a barely perceptible smile on her lips.
She knew that the real show was just beginning.
As the smoke cleared, Luna and her companions followed Aelia along a path leading to the ruins of Magic Castle.
This path was overgrown with weeds, marked by the passage of time, resembling wrinkles that told tales of Magic Castle's former glory and its subsequent decline.
Finally, after traversing a dense thicket, a dilapidated Ancient Altar came into view.
Though it was called an Ancient Altar, only a few crumbling stone pillars remained, along with a weathered stone platform eroded by wind and rain.
However, amidst this desolation, a strange glow captured everyone's attention.
It was a Jade Pendant floating above the stone platform, enveloped in a faint magical light that emanated an ancient and mysterious aura.
The Jade Pendant was crafted in an archaic yet exquisite style, resembling a badge with outstretched wings, intricately engraved with elaborate patterns and faintly visible ancient Magic Symbols.
"This is..." Aelia's voice trembled slightly as she stepped forward, reaching out to gently touch the layer of light.
In an instant, the glow vanished, and the Jade Pendant fell into Aelia's hand.
She clutched the Jade Pendant tightly, as if grasping her family's honor and memories.
"This Jade Pendant is the symbol of Glorious Demon Fortress," Aelia said nostalgically, her gaze sweeping over everyone present. "Only those with pure bloodlines can claim it from Leonard."
Luna blinked her big eyes, curiously examining the Jade Pendant.
Although she wasn't particularly interested in things like Family Glory, she had to admit that this Jade Pendant indeed contained powerful Magical Energy.
"Mother, let me put this on for you," Lucius said softly as he took the Jade Pendant from Aelia's hand and carefully placed it around her neck.
The Jade Pendant rested against Aelia's skin, emanating a warm glow.
Aelia's face broke into a long-lost smile, her gaze softening and deepening as if she were seeing fragments of the past.
"It has been a long time since I returned here," Aelia said quietly, her voice carrying a hint of barely perceptible sadness. "This place holds so many memories for me, both joyful and sorrowful."
She turned around and bowed deeply to the stone platform.
"Ancestors above, Aelia has returned." Her voice echoed in the vast Ancient Altar, imbued with a solemn and reverent air.
After the worship was complete, Aelia led everyone away from the Ancient Altar along a narrow path towards the old residence of the Magic Castle.
The old residence was even more dilapidated than the Ancient Altar; most of the buildings had collapsed, leaving only some crumbling walls that sobbed in the wind.
However, amidst the ruins stood a towering Magic Tree, still growing strong, its branches lush and vibrant with life.
"This tree..." Second Brother murmured, "I remember when we were young, we often played under this tree."
Aelia approached the Magic Tree and gently caressed its rough trunk.
"This tree has witnessed the rise and fall of the Magic Castle and has accompanied us as we grew up," her voice was filled with emotion.
The tree was laden with all kinds of Magic Fruits, exuding an enticing Cedar Fragrance.
Luna couldn't help but swallow hard; she had long wanted to taste the flavor of these Magic Fruits.
"Children, let's pick some fruit," Aelia said with a smile. "These fruits are rich in Magical Energy and will greatly aid your training."
The crowd cheered and eagerly began to gather the fruits.
Luna also reached out her small hand, plucking a red fruit and popping it into her mouth.
The moment the fruit entered, it melted away, and a sweet flavor burst on her taste buds. Immediately, a warm energy surged into her body, filling her with an incredible sense of comfort.
"It's so delicious!" Luna exclaimed in delight.
After gathering the fruits, Aelia led everyone into the ruins of an old residence.
Although most of the buildings had collapsed, some rooms had managed to survive, albeit barely.
Aelia walked into one of the relatively intact rooms and looked around; her expression grew dim.
"This was my room," she said softly. "I spent my happiest times here."
The room was empty, with nothing left behind but dust and spider webs, silently narrating the passage of time.
Aelia approached the window and gazed out at the desolate scene outside, two streams of tears slowly rolling down her cheeks.
"Mother..." Lucius stepped beside Aelia and gently embraced her.
Luna silently watched everything unfold.
Suddenly, her gaze fell upon Aelia's back.
She noticed that there was a mark resembling a rune on Aelia's back.
The mark presented a strange black color, reminiscent of some Ancient Spell, yet also resembling a mysterious totem.
"Mother, what is that on your back?" Luna couldn't help but ask.
Aelia wiped her tears and turned around, looking at Luna with some confusion.
"On my back? There's nothing there."
"No, Mother, there is indeed a mark on your back," Luna said earnestly. "It's a very strange mark."
Hearing Luna's words, her older brother and Second Brother also approached to closely examine Aelia's back.
"There is definitely a mark," the older brother said, his voice tinged with surprise.
"This mark..." Second Brother furrowed his brow, as if deep in thought.
Aelia smiled helplessly.
"This mark has been with me since I was born," she explained. "It is said to be a special Bloodline Mark of our family, appearing only in those with pure bloodlines."
"A special Bloodline Mark?" Luna blinked, her heart filled with curiosity.
“Hmm.” Aelia nodded. “It is said that this mark contains powerful Magical Power, which can protect us from the corruption of evil forces.”
“Then why don’t I have one?” Lucius said, a hint of defiance in his voice.
“Hehe…” The eldest brother couldn’t help but chuckle.
“What are you laughing at?” Lucius asked irritably.
“Nothing, nothing.” The eldest brother quickly waved his hand, but the smile on his face was impossible to hide.
The Second Brother shook his head helplessly; he knew that the eldest brother was just teasing Lucius again.
Just as everyone was joking and playing around, Brother San suddenly exclaimed.
“Come quick! There’s a corpse of a Magical Beast at the door!”
Everyone rushed to the entrance and indeed saw a massive Magical Beast lying in a pool of blood.
It was a gigantic Griffin, its feathers shimmering with a metallic sheen. Its sharp claws and beak displayed the strength it possessed in life.
However, at this moment, it had already become a cold corpse, covered in various scars, clearly having gone through a fierce battle.
“It seems we were attacked by a Magical Beast,” Aelia said with a frown.
“What should we do?” Lucius asked nervously.
“What should we do?” Aelia’s lips curled into a smile. “Of course, we should eat it!”
"Eat it?" Everyone was momentarily stunned.
"Yes," Aelia nodded. "This is a high-level Magical Beast. Its meat is rich in Magical Energy, which is a great supplement for us."
Upon hearing Aelia's words, the crowd erupted in cheers.
"That's great! We can have a feast tonight!"
"I'll take care of this Griffin!" Brother San rolled up his sleeves and volunteered.
Everyone began to work together to process the Griffin's carcass. Some were skinning it, others were cutting it up, and some were starting the fire, creating a lively scene.
Soon, the aroma of roasted meat filled the air, making everyone's mouths water.
Luna sat in her stroller, watching the busy crowd with a satisfied smile on her face.
It seemed that tonight was destined to be a lively and joyful night.
As night fell, the bonfire burned brightly, illuminating everyone's faces.
The scent of roasted meat grew stronger, enticing everyone to dig in.
Aelia handed a piece of golden-brown meat to Luna.
"Xiao Luna, give this a try."
Luna accepted the roasted meat without hesitation and started eating heartily.
The roasted meat was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with the aroma of Cedar Fragrance wafting through the air, infused with rich Magical Energy, leaving Luna feeling immensely satisfied.
The group sat around the campfire, enjoying the grilled meat while chatting and laughing together.
Aelia looked at the scene before her, her heart filled with warmth.
It had been a long time since she had felt this happy.
"I really hope days like this can last forever," she silently prayed in her heart.
As night deepened, the campfire gradually dimmed.
Everyone had eaten their fill and found places to rest.
Only Aelia remained, quietly sitting by the campfire, gazing at the bright moon in the sky, lost in thought.
"Mother, why aren't you asleep yet?" Lucius approached Aelia and asked softly.
Aelia snapped back to reality and smiled, shaking her head.
"I just wanted to admire this beautiful moon a little longer."
"The moon is here every night; you can look at it whenever you want," Lucius replied. "You should get some rest; there are many things to do tomorrow."
Aelia nodded, stood up, and prepared to head back to her room for some rest.
Just as she turned around, her gaze fell upon a shadow not far away.
There, she seemed to see a familiar figure.
"Who?" she couldn't help but ask, her voice trembling slightly.
From the shadows, the figure slowly stepped forward.
It was a man, a man whom Aelia knew all too well.
"Leonard..." Aelia murmured, her voice filled with shock and anger.
Leonard looked at Aelia, a strange smile spreading across his face.
"It's been a long time, Aelia," he said, his voice deep and hoarse, like a snake hissing its venom.
Aelia clenched her fists tightly, struggling to contain the fury boiling within her.
"What are you doing here?" she asked coldly.
Leonard shrugged.
"I just wanted to see you, to check on how you’ve been."
"My affairs are none of your concern," Aelia replied. "Leave now; I don’t want to see you."
Leonard shook his head.
"No, Aelia, there are still many things between us that need to be resolved."
“There’s nothing to resolve between us,” Aelia said. “From the moment you betrayed me, it was over.”
Leonard's expression darkened.
“Do you really think so?” he asked. “Do you truly believe we can just end it all so easily?”
Aelia remained silent, her cold gaze fixed on Leonard.
Suddenly, Leonard laughed, his laughter filled with mockery and malice.
“Well then, Aelia, if that’s how you feel, so be it,” he said. “But I promise, you will regret this soon enough.”
With that, Leonard's figure gradually faded into the shadows.
Aelia stood frozen in place, unable to move for a long time.
Her heart was filled with unease and fear.
She had no idea what Leonard would do next.
All she knew was that the tranquility of the Magic Castle was about to be shattered.
