The Legend of the Immortals Prequel: Wilderness Journey
The Barbaric Sacred Hall, which has been inherited for countless years, is currently facing the most terrifying disaster in history. The entire Demon Mountain is raging like an enraged ancient beast, wildly wreaking havoc and crazily venting its hatred, intending to trample all humans beneath its feet like ants.
Numerous palaces and towers atop the peak are collapsing, and large chunks of the mountain are breaking off and sliding down. Countless people are scrambling for cover, trying to escape this dreadful calamity. Amidst this chaos, a thunderous roar echoes, and countless people turn to see a massive torrent of rocks and mud cascading down from the heights of Demon Mountain, unstoppable in its descent, directly targeting the largest and most magnificent Main Hall of the Barbaric Sacred Hall.
In the face of such terrifying natural power, nothing can withstand it. The enormous hall crumbles as if made of paper, instantly losing half its structure. Among the wreckage, a towering Mother of the Underworld Statue can be seen leaning to one side, while another Demon King Statue is directly pushed over by the mudslide, crashing to the ground and shattering into countless pieces.
Such is the might of the earth.
On one side of Demon Mountain, a similarly brutal chase is unfolding, but at this point, the situation has become overwhelmingly one-sided. The three top experts from the demonic sect have gained absolute advantage. In front of them, Ten Thousand Swords in One and Azure Pine are desperately fleeing while heavily injured, almost powerless to fight back. If it weren't for the sudden upheaval of Demon Mountain, with earthquakes shaking the ground and rocks tumbling down—where even the originally flat mountain path might suddenly erupt with spikes or spew lava—these three from the demonic sect would have likely captured and killed Ten Thousand Swords in One and Azure Pine a hundred times over.
However, even so, Ten Thousand Swords in One, carrying the completely incapacitated Azure Pine, cannot shake off the pursuit of Qinglong, Baihu, and Poison God. As time passes, the three are getting closer. Suddenly, a furious roar erupts as Qinglong exerts himself, shooting forward like an arrow released from a bow, unable to hold back any longer and ready to strike down.
Ten Thousand Swords in One's face turns pale; his expression is grim. Just as he hears the rush of wind behind him, he suddenly veers sharply to the right, narrowly avoiding a massive rock that comes crashing down with ferocity. It looks as if Ten Thousand Swords in One has moved toward where the boulder is falling.
The three experts from the demonic sect curse simultaneously; Qinglong's momentum falters as he dares not pursue further. Yet Ten Thousand Swords in One, fighting for his life, disregards the falling boulder and dashes through a narrow gap of danger. Then there’s a loud crash as the boulder slams into the ground behind him, causing tremors in the surrounding mountains and creating a large pit where it lands.
This situation is not new; perhaps aware that he remains in extreme danger, Ten Thousand Swords in One throws caution to the wind to escape. With Demon Mountain shaking and erupting like a volcano, he has repeatedly taken such desperate risks to push through while being pursued by the three from the demonic sect who often have to avoid him. Due to slight timing differences, if they were to charge forward as well, they would likely fall into traps themselves—resulting in either death or injury.
Perhaps due to luck or perhaps because Ten Thousand Swords in One possesses an uncanny sharpness beyond that of ordinary humans, he has managed to win every time he gambled his life on such risky maneuvers while carrying Azure Pine. Because of these delays, he has barely managed to keep ahead of his pursuers; however, circumstances continue to deteriorate. Just like this time—though he has temporarily shaken off those three—once he crosses that fallen boulder, Qinglong and others will quickly catch up again.
And at the foot of the mountain below, it seems that solid ground is getting closer and closer.
The running seemed to be nothing more than a dying struggle, ultimately unable to escape the fate of death. The mocking laughter behind grew closer, and Azure Pine slowly closed his eyes in pain. Suddenly, there was another violent tremor from the mountain, and taking advantage of this shake, Poison God leaped into the air, charging forward and pouncing on Ten Thousand Swords in One, laughing maniacally, "Die, you brat!"
"Boom!"
Before Poison God's words could finish, a tremendous sound erupted from deep within the earth amidst the tremors, completely drowning out his voice. Several people’s expressions changed drastically because this sound was distinctly different from the previous tremors; it seemed to come from right beneath their feet rather than from deep within Demon Mountain.
The ground shook violently, rocks, soil, trees, and even the entire land twisted and deformed under an immense force. Moments later, all the layers of earth exploded simultaneously with a thunderous roar that echoed among the crowd. Then a massive column of lava surged upward, scorching hot as it shot up over a hundred feet into the air.
At the same time, in countless places around Demon Mountain, at least a hundred such terrifying columns of molten lava erupted from the ground simultaneously, shrouding the entire area in a dreadful black mist that obscured vision.
Poison God let out a strange cry while suspended in mid-air, abruptly halting his movement before being sent flying backward. Despite this, flames instantly ignited on his body, burning away half of his beard and hair. Poison God staggered backward for quite a distance before landing back on the ground in shock. He slapped out the flames on his body and then saw Qinglong and Baihu quickly retreating as well.
Not far away on the ground, the terrifying lava columns continued to erupt; even from a distance, one could feel the overwhelming heat. In front of such scorching lava, anyone who fell into it or came into contact with those flames would almost certainly not survive.
The three members of the Demon Sect exchanged glances, hesitant to approach the torrent of lava any closer. After a while, although the power of the erupting lava lessened somewhat, it still flowed everywhere like blood spilling from a wound torn in the earth.
The three leaped into the air but found that those two detestable Azure Cloud Sect fellows had already vanished without a trace. Baihu frowned and asked with some confusion, "Did they get burned to death?"
Qinglong exchanged glances with Poison God and saw the questions reflected in each other's eyes; they fell silent for a moment. After a while, Qinglong turned to look toward Sanctuary at the mountain's peak and saw that it too was in disarray. He shook his head and sighed:
"Let's go back; there are still remnants to clean up over there."
Baihu always held great respect for this elder brother and naturally agreed immediately. Poison God hesitated for a moment, appearing somewhat unwilling. Qinglong glanced at him but did not press further; he simply said calmly, "Right now, there's chaos at the mountain top. Your disciples are numerous; if someone gets upset and something happens, what will you do?"
Poison God was suddenly startled. The various factions within the demonic sect had never been harmonious, and conflicts and mutual killings were not uncommon. The situation with the Azure Dragon was indeed possible. With this thought, Poison God immediately cast aside the murderous intent and nodded to the Azure Dragon, saying, "Thank you for the reminder."
The Azure Dragon smiled wryly and sighed, "No need to thank me. I just don't want to see the Holy Sect suffer a great defeat and then engage in self-destructive conflicts."
Poison God said nothing more and turned to soar up the mountain, with the Azure Dragon and White Tiger following closely behind.
After the three of them had left, on the other side of the recently erupted lava flow, beneath a thick layer of black ash, a spot suddenly trembled violently. Then an arm stretched out, forcefully pushing away the surrounding black soil, revealing a figure that had almost turned completely black. Looking at the facial outline, it was none other than Ten Thousand Swords in One.
He gasped for breath several times before struggling to sit up. He then exerted himself to dig through the soil beneath him. Before long, he unearthed another person who looked quite similar to him; it was naturally Azure Pine.
After pulling out Azure Pine, Ten Thousand Swords in One looked somewhat anxious. He quickly placed his hand on Azure Pine's face and checked his breathing. A faint breath came from his fingertips, and Ten Thousand Swords in One relaxed his entire body, feeling relieved. However, just at that moment, he suddenly swayed, darkness clouded his vision, and he nearly collapsed; clearly, his injuries were severe, and after fleeing all this way, he was utterly exhausted.
After panting heavily for a while at the spot, Ten Thousand Swords in One still wanted to struggle to stand up, but despite several attempts, he fell back down weakly. Just as he was feeling anxious, he suddenly heard sharp whistling sounds piercing through the air above him. Startled, Ten Thousand Swords in One looked up to see three sword lights rushing toward him.
His gaze initially turned cold but then recognized those familiar sword lights. Instantly, joy sparkled in his eyes as moments later, the sword lights landed—it was Tian Buyi, Zeng Shuchang, and Shang Zhengliang.
Initially, things had gone smoothly for Tian Buyi and his companions in the Barbaric Sacred Hall, but they soon fell into a bitter battle as they were pursued by countless enraged demonic sect followers. At a critical moment, the collapse of Shura Tower triggered seismic disturbances in the earth's veins, causing the massive Demon Mountain to transform into a terrifying volcano in an instant. Seizing this opportunity, the three managed to escape down the mountain successfully. After regrouping, they hurried toward the front mountain and saw from a distance that Ten Thousand Swords in One and Azure Pine were being chased; they were both alarmed and rushed over. Taking advantage of the erupting lava flow, they finally rescued Ten Thousand Swords in One and Azure Pine.
At that moment, members of the Azure Cloud Sect dared not linger any longer. Tian Buyi carried Ten Thousand Swords in One, Shang Zhengliang carried Azure Pine, and Zeng Shuchang held his sword at the rear as they fled frantically without looking back. Behind them lay a devastated scene of black ash and flowing scorching lava on Demon Mountain.
