If it were any other day, Lou Yijing would never admit to feeling old, but today, it was the perfect excuse to let it slip out naturally.
“Lou Yijing, you’re still young, very young,” Jiang Chen said seriously as he gazed at her.
“Ah? Mr. Jiang, you really know how to flatter people,” Lou Yijing replied with a smile, surprised that Jiang Chen, usually so composed, would actually try to charm a woman.
“I’m speaking the truth. Alright, I’ve made my decision. You have three days to get ready. After that, you’ll come back with me to Domestic,” Jiang Chen stated, his tone turning serious and commanding.
After saying this, he turned his head away and looked at the shimmering surface of the lake, falling silent.
“This…” Lou Yijing frowned. Seeing that Jiang Chen seemed unwilling to continue the conversation, she found herself at a loss for words.
“Lou Yijing, you are from Domestic. After all these years without going back to visit, it’s time you returned. At the very least, you should pay your respects at your master’s grave,” Liu Liangmei interjected.
Lou Yijing’s expression darkened as she shot Liu Liangmei a glare and fell silent; she certainly didn’t want to go back.
“I must make sure to keep Mr. Jiang here tonight so that…,” Lou Yijing thought to herself. It seemed this time she couldn’t just charm Jiang Chen; she needed a solid plan.
Putting on a smile, she said, “Mr. Jiang, this matter is quite significant. Please give me tonight to think it over; I’ll give you my answer tomorrow morning. By the way, Mr. Jiang, don’t stay at a hotel tonight; just rest here at my residence. It’s much quieter here at night than any hotel in Bao Bei City.”
“That sounds good; I’ll stay here for the next few days,” Jiang Chen replied without hesitation.
As for Lou Yijing’s intentions, Jiang Chen didn’t bother to speculate. Although Lou Yijing had a cunning glint in her eyes as if she had plans of her own, he considered her little schemes trivial.
The night was calm and breezy.
Jiang Chen was settled in a quiet and elegant room arranged by Lou Yijing, while Liu Liangmei’s room was situated quite far from his.
In his room, Jiang Chen took out his phone and aimlessly scrolled through his social media feed. His phone wasn’t just for show; he had added quite a few friends.
The first post he saw was from his younger sister, Jiang Lu, who shared a selfie with Qin Xusha and several other girls.
Jiang Chen liked the post and continued scrolling until he came across a post from Lin Bingbing. He opened her nine-grid photo collage to take a look.
Lin Bingbing had posted pictures from the filming set of "Mountain and Sea Secret Realm," showcasing her in beautiful ancient costumes.
Her grace and beauty truly suited the ancient attire; she looked like an ethereal fairy.
“Great look! Is the filming going smoothly?” Jiang Chen commented for once.
Just after he posted his comment, Lin Bingbing immediately sent him a message on WeChat.
“The filming is going well! When can you come to see the set?”
Jiang Chen smiled when he saw Lin Bingbing's quick reply. He held his phone, not responding immediately. After a moment of thought, he typed back, "Come over when you have time. You can focus on your things for now. We'll chat later."
On the other end, Lin Bingbing held her phone, anxiously waiting for Jiang Chen's response. However, upon reading his message, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment.
"Okay, we'll chat later," Lin Bingbing replied obediently, sending a cute animated GIF along with her message.
