Jiang Chen was unaware that Lin Bingbing had only one friend on WeChat: him. Whenever she posted on Moments, it was solely for his eyes. She would frequently take beautiful photos and share them, hoping Jiang Chen would see them and give a like.
Tonight, she finally received a comment from Jiang Chen, who praised her beauty. This was enough to make Lin Bingbing so happy that she couldn't sleep.
Jiang Chen casually scrolled through Moments before putting his phone down and leaning back on the sofa, closing his eyes to rest while contemplating his future plans.
About an hour later, as the sky darkened, the weather in the island was still quite warm, with the sounds of insects faintly echoing. Jiang Chen didn't turn on the air conditioning in his room because he didn't need to; he could regulate his own body temperature.
“Knock knock knock~”
“Mr. Jiang, I brought you a cup of chilled sour plum soup and some watermelon,” came the voice of Lou Yijing from outside.
“Come in, the door isn’t locked,” Jiang Chen replied casually.
The door opened, and as Jiang Chen leaned back on the sofa with his eyes half-closed, they widened slightly upon seeing Lou Yijing. His expression turned somewhat strange.
Lou Yijing had changed into a cool Hanfu that subtly revealed her skin beneath. A woman in her fifties could possess a charm that surpassed even that of younger girls. This allure could make any man lose control; however, Jiang Chen was not an ordinary man. To him, Lou Yijing's revealing elegance was merely a facade hiding decay beneath beauty.
Noticing Jiang Chen's gaze on her, Lou Yijing's lips curled into a seductive smile. Her eyes, elongated like those of a fox, exuded a captivating charm as her tone became sweet and delicate.
“Mr. Jiang, it’s quite hot tonight. Oh, why aren’t you using the air conditioning? If you don’t like it, I can have someone bring more ice to cool things down,” Lou Yijing said as she set down the tray, genuinely feeling the heat.
“No need for that; tranquility brings its own coolness. The temperature doesn’t affect me much,” Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
“Mr. Jiang is truly extraordinary and unbothered by the heat. But I can’t handle it! It’s too hot tonight. Do you mind if I take off my outer garment?” Lou Yijing stood before Jiang Chen, gazing at him with longing.
“As long as you’re willing to take it off, it’s your choice. However, unless you possess skin as flawless as jade, I think it’s better to keep your clothes on,” Jiang Chen said lightly.
Lou Yijing's smile faltered slightly. She was confident in her skin but felt that Jiang Chen's standards were too high—flawless skin? That would be akin to being a fairy!
She had initially prepared to remove her outer garment, but Jiang Chen's words made her hesitate awkwardly.
“Mr. Jiang, do you think I’m not beautiful?” Lou Yijing collected herself and spoke again in a soft voice that seemed to carry an enchanting power capable of stirring one's heart.
Seeing Lou Yijing behave so unusually tonight made Jiang Chen aware of her intentions.
“Alright, it’s getting late; you should head back and rest,” he suddenly said. His tone seemed casual enough, but to Lou Yijing’s ears, it felt like a heavy bell ringing in her heart—a deep resonance shaking her very core. The enchantment she had been preparing to cast crumbled before it even began.
Lou Yijing's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Jiang Chen, unable to regain her composure for a long time.
