The reunion of Dawn and Nightshade did not bring hope; instead, it made their situation even more dire. The patrols from the Divine Realm and the Demon Realm quickly discovered their whereabouts, and the guards from both sides swiftly surrounded the border. Dawn and Nightshade were separated once again, taken back to their respective prisons, where they would face even harsher punishments.
In the prison of the Divine Realm, Dawn was subjected to brutal interrogations. The Messengers of the God of Light attempted to extract information about Nightshade's plans and the schemes of the Demon Realm from him, but Dawn remained tight-lipped. His only thought was to protect Nightshade. However, the Messengers did not believe his silence; they suspected that Dawn had an unspeakable alliance with the Demon Realm, which made his situation even more perilous.
Meanwhile, Nightshade endured a similar fate in the prison of the Demon Realm. The Lord of the Demon Realm's Trusted Aides sought to uncover Dawn's secrets and the weaknesses of the Divine Realm from him, but Nightshade also chose silence. His sole focus was on protecting Dawn. Yet, the Trusted Aides did not trust his silence either; they believed Nightshade had an undisclosed connection with the Divine Realm, further endangering his position.
As time passed, misunderstandings between the Divine and Demonic realms regarding Dawn and Nightshade deepened. Both the God of Light and the Lord of the Demon Realm believed that the other was exploiting this forbidden love for some nefarious purpose. The hatred between the two realms reignited, casting a shadow of war over them. The love between Dawn and Nightshade became a casualty of this animosity, leaving them in a state of despair.
Faced with immense pressure from both realms, Dawn and Nightshade finally realized that their love could no longer continue. They understood that only by letting go could they find their final release for each other. One deep night, they met again at the border; it was their last gathering.
"We can't go on like this," Dawn said, his voice trembling with pain and helplessness.
Nightshade grasped Dawn's hand tightly, his voice choked with emotion. "I know, but is there really no way out for us?"
Dawn shook his head, determination flashing in his eyes. "We must let go for each other's peace. If we continue like this, war between our realms will be inevitable, and we will become victims of that war."
Nightshade fell silent for a moment, pain flickering in his gaze. "I understand, but I truly cannot forget you."
Dawn gently caressed Nightshade's face, his voice softening. "I will always remember you, cherish our time together. But now we must let go for our future."
The two embraced tightly as if the entire world had vanished around them. Tears filled their eyes as their hearts swelled with pain and helplessness. They knew this was their final moment together, yet they could not bring themselves to part. In that desolate place, they held each other close as if it were their last warmth.
"I will love you forever," Dawn said firmly.
"I will love you forever too," Nightshade replied softly.
They clung to each other in that barren land until the very last moment. When the guards from both realms separated them once more, their figures gradually faded into darkness. Their love became a sacrifice to the hatred between their worlds, yet their hearts remained forever intertwined.
