Xuan Yang felt a powerful force surge within him, like a volcano erupting, unstoppable and overwhelming. This force roared and surged through his body, as if it wanted to tear him apart. He gritted his teeth, striving to control this wild energy and prevent it from spiraling out of control.
His hair turned silver-white, shining like moonlight, casting a faint glow in the dim cave. His eyes transformed into a dazzling gold, bright as the sun, seemingly capable of piercing through all darkness. His skin became as translucent as jade, radiating a soft light, resembling a deity descending to the mortal realm.
He clenched his fists, feeling an unprecedented strength coursing through him, filled with confidence and ambition. He knew that his adventure was just beginning; the road ahead was fraught with unknown challenges and dangers, but he was unafraid because he possessed the power to confront anything.
"What kind of challenges await me in the second level of the Abyss?" Xuan Yang thought to himself, eager for what lay ahead. He craved challenges, longed for battle, and yearned to break through himself in adversity and grow even stronger.
Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed from the cave's ceiling, like mountains collapsing and earth splitting apart, causing Xuan Yang's eardrums to buzz. Massive boulders fell from above like meteors, producing thunderous crashes that reverberated throughout the cave.
Xuan Yang and Lu Zhiyuan quickly dodged as rocks smashed into the ground with tremendous force, shaking the earth violently as if an earthquake had struck. Debris flew everywhere, dust filled the air, and chaos engulfed the entire cave.
"What’s happening?" Xuan Yang exclaimed in shock as he looked up. He saw a massive crack appear at the cave's top, flames bursting forth like a volcanic eruption. The fire illuminated the cave in a crimson glow. A scorching wave of heat rushed toward them, threatening to consume everything in its path.
"This is bad; it's magma!" Lu Zhiyuan's face paled as he cried out in terror and despair, as if witnessing the end of the world.
The magma poured down from the crack like a fire dragon, rushing toward Xuan Yang and Lu Zhiyuan. The intense heat radiating from it seemed capable of melting everything away.
"Run!" Xuan Yang shouted as he grabbed Lu Zhiyuan and dashed away. He knew they had to escape quickly; otherwise, they would be engulfed by the magma and turned to ash.
They ran desperately, dodging falling rocks and surging magma as if fleeing from a sea of flames—danger lurked at every turn. Behind them, the magma pursued relentlessly like a vengeful spirit intent on devouring them whole.
The magma moved swiftly, like a raging flood; in an instant, it caught up with them. The searing heat grew closer; Xuan Yang could even feel its scorching breath.
A sense of dread filled Xuan Yang's heart; he realized they were trapped with no way out. The path ahead was blocked by magma while behind them loomed the relentless flow— they were cornered.
"Damn it! It's now or never!" Xuan Yang gritted his teeth fiercely. He knew they couldn't just sit back and wait for death; they had to fight for their lives if they wanted any chance of survival.
He summoned the power within him and commanded his Shadow Puppets to attack the magma. Countless Shadow Puppets surged forward like a tide against the advancing lava in an attempt to halt its spread.
As soon as the Shadow Puppets made contact with the magma, they melted instantly like ice meeting fire—utterly powerless. However, Xuan Yang did not give up; he continued to manipulate his Shadow Puppets, sending wave after wave toward the magma in hopes that sheer numbers could compensate for their lack of strength.
"Futile! Your Shadow Puppets cannot withstand the erosion of magma," a voice echoed in Xuan Yang's mind with a hint of mockery. "If you wish to survive, you must find another way."
This voice was ghostly and elusive; Xuan Yang could not discern its source. A chill ran down his spine as he recognized it belonged to the Abyss Guardian.
"What do you want from me?" Xuan Yang gritted his teeth, filled with anger and frustration. He felt like a mouse toyed with in someone's hands, at the mercy of another.
"Very simple, defeat me, and you can pass the second trial," the voice echoed again, laced with a hint of provocation.
"Show yourself!" Xuan Yang shouted. He wanted to confront this shadowy figure hiding in the darkness and face him head-on.
"Hehe, I am right in front of you, yet you cannot see me," the voice replied, whispering like a ghost, sending chills down his spine.
Xuan Yang scanned his surroundings but could not find the source of the voice. This only fueled his anger and anxiety, making him feel like a fool being led in circles.
"Who are you?" Xuan Yang asked again, his tone tinged with helplessness and urgency.
"I am the Abyss Guardian, and I am your Trialist," the voice responded once more, carrying an air of mystery and authority. "If you wish to pass the trial, you must prove your strength."
"How do I prove it?" Xuan Yang inquired.
"Very simple, defeat me," the voice reiterated, its tone firm and unyielding.
"Fine, I accept your challenge!" Xuan Yang clenched his teeth, filled with determination. He knew this was a life-or-death battle; he had to give it his all to survive.
Suddenly, a massive fireball appeared in the center of the cave, blazing fiercely like a small sun, radiating intense heat. The temperature around surged dramatically, distorting the air.
"This is my power; can you overcome it?" the voice taunted once more.
Xuan Yang stared at the fireball, feeling immense pressure. He understood that this would be a difficult fight.
Taking a deep breath, he summoned his inner strength and controlled the Shadow Puppet to launch an attack on the fireball.
The Shadow Puppet surged toward the fireball like a tidal wave, attempting to extinguish it. However, the fireball's temperature was exceedingly high; as soon as the Shadow Puppet made contact, it was instantly incinerated, turning into a wisp of black smoke that dissipated into the air.
"Useless; your Shadow Puppet cannot withstand the flames' onslaught," the voice mocked again, dripping with derision. "To defeat me, you must find another way."
Xuan Yang furrowed his brow; he knew he had to devise a strategy to overcome the fireball.
He carefully observed the fireball, searching for its weakness, his gaze sharp as that of a hawk.
Suddenly, he noticed a Black Core at the center of the fireball, resembling a black hole, emanating a mysterious power.
"Could this... be its weakness?" A spark of realization ignited within Xuan Yang, as if he had grasped a lifeline.
He manipulated the Shadow Puppet, surrounding the fireball completely, then fused all the Shadow Puppets together to form a massive black vortex.
The black vortex spun, drawing the fireball into it like a black hole devouring everything in its path, unstoppable.
The fireball shrank in size until it finally vanished, transforming into a wisp of black smoke that dissipated into the air.
"You... actually defeated my flames." The voice echoed again, tinged with surprise and disbelief. "Who... are you?"
Xuan Yang stood there, panting heavily. He knew he had finally passed the second trial.
"I am Xuan Yang, the reincarnation of the Puppet Master," he declared, his tone filled with confidence and determination.
"Puppet Master..." The voice responded once more, laced with confusion and uncertainty. "Could it be... that the prophecy is true?"
Suddenly, a loud crash resonated from above in the cave, and a massive crack appeared before Xuan Yang...
