"Let us fight on the surface of the lake. Follow me!" Master Zhang said, then stepped onto the water, stopping fifty meters away from Lake Heart Pavilion. He stood there like a dragonfly touching the surface of the water.
"Master Zhang truly possesses great skills; this is indeed extraordinary lightness of body," Jiang Chen remarked with a light laugh, his tone laced with sarcasm.
"You brat, if you have the ability, come on! Are you afraid of falling into the lake and drowning?" Master Zhang scoffed when he saw Jiang Chen hesitating to follow.
Jiang Chen's expression remained indifferent. The ability to walk on water was something a mere Master of Transformation could easily accomplish; only ordinary people would find it impressive.
"Fine, then I'll come and defeat you," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
With that, he stepped toward the lake.
"Mr. Jiang, be careful," Jiang Luyi couldn't help but warn.
"Miss Jiang, don't be fooled by this brat! Take my advice—he is a rogue practitioner. If you associate with him, there will be no good outcome for you. Don't be stubborn," Master Zhang said coldly.
"Master Zhang, thank you for your concern. Mr. Jiang is not a rogue practitioner; I hope the Master can show some mercy," Jiang Luyi responded with a hint of pleading in her voice.
Master Zhang was satisfied with Jiang Luyi's attitude but merely sneered without agreeing.
Jiang Chen followed the steps along the edge of Lake Heart Pavilion to the lakeshore and then stepped onto the water. Everyone expected him to walk on water like Master Zhang did.
However, what happened next left everyone in shock. As Jiang Chen stepped onto the lake, it instantly froze into ice beneath his feet. With each step he took, the surface of the lake solidified into ice, creating a path that extended all the way to Master Zhang.
Master Zhang was dumbfounded; Jiang Chen's ability astonished him greatly.
"I didn't expect you to be so formidable, able to freeze the ground beneath your feet at such a young age. You truly are a prodigy, but unfortunately, you've gone astray," Master Zhang said, his tone a mix of shock and regret.
"My abilities are beyond your comprehension; freezing the ground beneath my feet is nothing remarkable," Jiang Chen replied dismissively.
"Though you are indeed talented, it's a pity that you're too arrogant. In this world, those who are overly proud ultimately meet a bad end. You can freeze the ground beneath your feet; I can gather water into a blade," Master Zhang declared in a low voice. As he spoke, he stepped onto the lake's surface, sending splashes of water up that formed into blades of water.
The water blades whistled through the air toward Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen remained calm; with a wave of his arm, a fierce wind surged forth. The water blades met the gale in midair and were ultimately dissipated into droplets that fell back into the lake while the wind continued to push forward, forcefully parting the surface of the water.
Master Zhang felt increasingly alarmed; Jiang Chen's Daoist Techniques were indeed diverse and complex. Freezing the ground and summoning wind made it clear that Jiang Chen had real potential to contend with him.
Now was not the time for hesitation; since he had already engaged in battle, as a senior practitioner, Master Zhang could not afford to lose to a young man. Yet looking at Jiang Chen's strength made it evident that he was no ordinary opponent.
Ordinary abilities would likely be insufficient to handle this situation. Master Zhang hesitated for a moment before making up his mind. He summoned all his strength to evade Jiang Chen's fierce attack and then took out an ancient Copper Seal from his possession. The Copper Seal was not large, only the size of a palm, but it emanated an aura that was both ancient and profound.
