After introducing each other, Jiang Chen and Master Zhang made their way to the courtyard, sitting by the tea table. With every word Jiang Chen spoke, Master Zhang felt as though he was hearing something entirely new. It was as if Jiang Chen were not of this world; his vast knowledge made Master Zhang, who prided himself on being well-versed in both celestial and earthly matters, feel small and inadequate.
Jiang Luyi remained nearby, not leaving, and Jiang Chen did not ask her to go. She quietly stood by, listening to the conversation between Jiang Chen and Master Zhang. The more she listened, the more astonished she became, and her admiration for Jiang Chen grew deeper.
"Could it be that Mr. Jiang is truly a reincarnated immortal?" Jiang Luyi speculated in her heart, and this thought became increasingly firm.
Suddenly, Master Zhang stood up and knelt before Jiang Chen. "Mr. Jiang," he said earnestly, "after hearing your words today, I feel as though I have cleared the clouds and seen the sky. Before meeting you, I believed no one understood the Dao better than I did. But today, I realize my ignorance is profound. I wish to take you as my master and humbly request that you accept me."
Life is indeed unpredictable; just moments ago, Master Zhang had been considering taking Jiang Chen as his disciple to inherit his teachings of the Heavenly Master lineage. Now, within just a few hours, he found himself wanting to become Jiang Chen's disciple instead.
Jiang Chen was somewhat surprised; Master Zhang seemed rigid but had unexpectedly shown an open-minded side. Compared to Chen Zhi, Master Zhang was far more capable and talented. Since he wished to become a disciple, Jiang Chen naturally had no reason to refuse.
"Master Zhang, have you thought this through?" Jiang Chen asked.
"I have pondered it deeply; I only seek your agreement," Master Zhang replied solemnly.
Though young, Jiang Chen was far superior to him in skill. Master Zhang had no other pursuits in life; he only wished to attain enlightenment. Becoming Jiang Chen's disciple would allow him to achieve that goal more swiftly, so he hesitated not at all regarding their age difference.
"Since that's the case, from now on, you shall be my disciple," Jiang Chen declared.
Jiang Chen intended to establish a cultivation sect on Earth and needed a wealth of talent. With a person of such integrity and strength in Daoist Techniques willing to follow him, he readily agreed.
Upon hearing Jiang Chen's acceptance, Master Zhang was filled with joy. "Master, I will return shortly to resign from my position as the head of Longhu Mountain's Shangqing Temple and abandon the Heavenly Master's lineage to follow you."
"No need to be anxious; you can continue serving as the head of the temple for now. There are no distinctions among my disciples," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
It should be noted that Jiang Chen did not regard Earthly sects as significant; thus, even if Master Zhang were a Heavenly Master from Longhu Mountain, it mattered little. In the Xiu Xian World, one would typically need to leave their original sect before taking on disciples.
"Chen Zhi, Ye Ming, Lin Yin, come over here," Jiang Chen called out.
The three quickly approached; Chen Zhi already knew Master Zhang. He was a giant in the realm of Daoist Techniques and an idol for Chen Zhi.
"Chen Zhi, Ye Ming, and Lin Yin are all my disciples," Jiang Chen introduced them. "However, Chen Zhi is currently an outer disciple; you can call him junior brother. Ye Ming and Lin Yin are inner disciples; they joined before you did, so you should call them senior sisters."
"Senior sisters and junior brother, greetings! I am Zhang Fa," Master Zhang quickly said. Although it felt somewhat awkward to refer to Ye Ming and Lin Yin as senior sisters since he was older than them, there was nothing he could do about it—after all, he had joined later.
"Hello, Senior Brother."
"Uh, hello, Junior Brother." Chen Zhi, Lin Yin, and Ye Ming quickly responded. Ye Ming felt a bit awkward; when Chen Zhi called her Senior Sister, it made her uncomfortable. Now another elder was addressing her as Senior Sister, and with her thin skin, she felt somewhat embarrassed.
