The other matches of the Quarterfinals have also kicked off in succession. In the B Group crossover match, Jiang Lingfeng led Hejiang High School to another victory against Shiyi Middle School with a score of 98 to 6, advancing to the semifinals while maintaining an undefeated record (8 wins, 0 losses) and dominating the entire league. In another crossover match, last season's runner-up, the Thunderbolt team led by Twenty-Four Middle School, faced off against Sangyue High School led by Zhao Ziyang. Initially, they lost to Sangyue on the road with a score of 79 to 84, but then managed to defeat their opponents at home with a score of 90 to 85. The two teams ended up tied at a total score of 169 to 169, but Twenty-Four Middle School was unfortunately eliminated by Sangyue due to having fewer away points. Alas! In the end, Thunderbolt graduated with regrets.
However, the semifinals will feature a battle between Jiang Lingfeng and Zhao Ziyang, known as the "Five Great Point Guards." Aside from Du Feilong, I haven't seen Shangguan Leinuo and Yang Zhaowei compete yet. I heard that Yang Zhaowei has quit the school basketball team to focus on his studies and aims to go to college. What a waste of talent! Shangguan Leinuo has transferred to Experiment Three this season; I wonder if he can continue the "Three Kings Dynasty" left by Du Feilong. In the D Group crossover match, Thirteen Middle School performed admirably against the transitioning Experiment Three. In the first game on the road under Coach Luo Qixing's leadership, Kobe and Zhou Wenming caught Shangguan Leinuo off guard with a score of 89 to 79, easily defeating Experiment Three. However, when they returned home, they lost their direction. Shangguan Leinuo found his form on the road, achieving an impressive double-double with 8 points and 17 assists, helping Experiment Three dominate Thirteen Middle School at their gym with a final score of 101 to 89, completing a stunning comeback with a total score of 190 to 188.
It seems we will first travel away for our next match (since we earned the advantage of playing away first based on points) against Experiment Three led by another "Five Great Point Guards," Shangguan Leinuo.
The next morning, I overslept and almost arrived late. Playing against Shiyi Middle School was exhausting; I hadn't recovered yet. Last time I faced them, I could rest on a Sunday, but not this time. Sigh. When A Fei and I reached the school gate, I saw Situ Yanan approaching from a distance. I quickly hid behind A Fei. A Fei turned around and asked me, "Hey hey hey, what are you doing? Aren't you too old for hide-and-seek? We're going to be late; let's hurry inside."
"Shh... can't you see Situ Yanan coming? Let me hide," I said as I ducked behind him again. A Fei moved aside once more: "What's wrong with Situ Yanan? You're still her Brother Jie; why are you hiding?"
"A Fei brother, Brother Jie, good morning!" A Fei was interrupted by Situ Yanan's voice. I reluctantly stepped out and greeted her with a forced smile like A Fei: "Yanan, it's not early anymore; class is about to start. We should head in." I pulled A Fei towards the school entrance to avoid her for now; I couldn't afford to provoke that girl.
When we arrived at the classroom, I noticed Haoshuai packing his bag and getting ready to leave. "Haoshuai, what are you doing? Class is about to start; why are you carrying your bag?" I asked him in confusion. Haoshuai coldly smirked: "The threshold for your Yulin is too high; someone like me doesn't qualify to stay any longer."
"Are you transferring schools again?!" A Fei asked in shock. Haoshuai didn't even look at us as he picked up his bag and walked out. At the door, he turned back and said: "Xiang Jie, Yu Chengfei, we'll meet again!" I stared at his retreating figure in disbelief; was that really Haoshuai? Why did he suddenly feel like a stranger? How could he decide to transfer again just over a week after joining?
Later that morning during training at the gym, Teacher Qiu revealed the mystery behind Haoshuai's decision. It turned out that he had gone to see Teacher Qiu again that morning to apply for special permission to join the team one last time. Unfortunately, he received a harsh reprimand from Teacher Qiu and then told him: "Teacher Qiu, you'll regret this in the future!" before storming out. It seemed he had impulsively applied for transfer from school; his temperament was indeed too extreme.
After school, A Fei and I were riding our bikes down the main road when I was suddenly startled awake by a sharp shout. After securing our bike stands, we walked over toward where the shout came from—a nearby alley. Upon arriving there, we saw three thugs who had previously attacked me surrounding a woman in her thirties who was helplessly sobbing under their intimidation and dared not scream anymore. Grabbing A Fei's arm slowly as we turned our heads away from the alley in fear, I whispered: "This is blatant harassment! A Fei, what should we do? How can we rescue that lady from danger?"
A Fei thought for a moment: "How about we call the police? You go find them while I keep an eye on them."
"No way! This alley has too many exits; they'll run if they hear sirens! Don't you remember how they escaped when you saved me last time?" I recalled how they had gotten away before. A Fei lowered his head in thought: "You're right; they have cases of kidnapping underage boys—definitely can't involve police—but last time they didn't see what they looked like." I tapped his head: "You're so dumb! They may not have seen them but I've seen them as a victim—I can identify them!"
"What should we do then?" A Fei asked me. As I closed my eyes trying to think of something suddenly saw Haoshuai with his backpack on: "Haoshuai!" I called out softly. He turned around upon seeing us and walked over: "What are you two doing here instead of going home? Enjoying the scenery?"
Haoshuai asked us while putting his finger over his lips signaling him to be quiet before whispering: "There are three thugs in that alley harassing an innocent woman; we're trying to figure out how to rescue her."
Upon hearing this, Haoshuai panicked: "Then why are you just standing here?! Hurry up! If we're late it’ll be too late!" He tossed his backpack down and rushed into the alley without thinking twice. A Fei and I were caught off guard by Haoshuai's recklessness but quickly followed him inside where we found that three thugs had already torn part of the woman's clothing off. As soon as Haoshuai entered he shouted: "Stop it!" The thugs were momentarily stunned by his shout and instinctively prepared to flee but when they turned around and saw it was just a seventeen or eighteen-year-old boy they relaxed significantly—especially one thug with sideburns who laughed upon recognizing me behind Haoshuai: "Haha kiddo! So it's you again bringing two little helpers along! Last time you got lucky escaping; this time I'm going to teach you all a lesson!"
