Cheng Luoning was entrusted with handling my brother's affairs. Naturally, all of the Xiao family's assets had been legally transferred to Xiao Ruoan's name. I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story; this woman was definitely a formidable character. 0

After dealing with Xiao Ruohui's matters, Cheng Luoning drove me home. The wind on the road was chilly, and I casually asked Cheng Luoning, "Has Miss Xiao's driver been working for her long?" 0

"About a year, I suppose. She called me at that time because there was an agency across from the law firm. I contacted the manager, and they sent someone over to interview her. Since I don't often keep in touch, I haven't asked how things turned out," Cheng Luoning replied with her usual good-natured smile. 0

I fiddled with the strap of my handbag and replied absentmindedly, "It's because her driver is handsome." 0

"Oh, I remember now; his name is Wu Nan. As for being handsome, I wouldn't necessarily agree," she said. 0

I've always disliked crowded places. Yet after Cheng Luoning left, I found myself patiently walking into that bustling agency. The walls were adorned with photos of outstanding employees, and it didn't take long for me to spot the name Wu Nan. The caption beneath his photo noted that he was an excellent driver who had never violated traffic rules over the years. 0

I always have a vivid memory of beautiful things. After examining the photo closely, I was certain that the man with small eyes in the picture was not the driver who had come to pick up Xiao Ruoan that day. 0

After asking around at the agency, I learned that the real Wu Nan had returned to his hometown a few months ago due to a family emergency. I obtained his home address and two phone numbers: one for his home and another for his father. 0

At this point, it seemed there was nothing more worth pursuing. But that's how the world works; too many things happen that don't concern us, yet human curiosity becomes a driving force to dig deeper. I never tire of stories about switched identities. 0

Dialing the two numbers was quick, but uncovering the truth behind them took much longer. Wu Nan's phone in the city went unanswered, while his father had only recently been discharged from the hospital. I pretended to be a colleague of Wu Nan's and struck up a conversation with the elderly man. His health was poor, and he often stayed in the hospital; his voice now sounded somewhat frail. 0

On the phone, he told me that Wu Nan hadn't returned home in a long time but sent money to him at the beginning of each month without fail. The old man sighed as he reassured himself, "I need money for my medical bills; this child must be too busy to even call." 0

I hung up feeling perplexed. A devoted son like Wu Nan wouldn't go so long without contacting his father. If he wasn't working at the company anymore, how could he still send money every month? A person can't just disappear from their loved ones' lives while using money as proof of their existence. Moreover, there was an attractive imposter involved, making the story even more mysterious and intriguing. 0

I pulled Cheng Luoning along to Wu Nan's house. We knocked on the door for a long time, but no one answered. Instead, the neighbor lady poked her head out and said, "He hasn't been back in a long time. The trash outside was starting to smell, and it was my husband who helped take it out." 0

Cheng Luoning and I exchanged glances as the lady closed her door. Cheng Luoning adjusted his glasses habitually and asked me, "Do you really want to know about him?" I nodded vigorously. "Then wait for me here." 0

Before long, he returned with a set of keys. "402, this is the one. Don't be surprised; I didn't steal it." 0

As Cheng Luoning unlocked the door, he explained, "The security guard for this complex happens to be the brother of a client from one of my cases. We won the lawsuit, so he’ll help us out with this little favor, as long as we return the keys later." 0

Before I could express my admiration for Cheng Luoning, the door swung open, and I hurried inside. I looked around; the room was tidy with no signs of anything unusual. 0

However, my attention was drawn to a photo wedged under Wu Nan's desk—it was a high school graduation picture from ten years ago, with Xiao Ruoan standing in front of Wu Nan, flashing a youthful smile. 0
