A Fei said with a serious expression, "It's those three thugs; they came from behind with wooden sticks..." A Fei lowered his head. I furrowed my brows tightly and clenched my fists. I felt a wave of dizziness wash over me, and I closed my eyes. My mom quickly reached out to touch my forehead, saying, "Jie, don't get too worked up. Just focus on healing; we've already called the police." I clearly saw that my mom's eyes were red, evidently from crying just moments ago. Damn Middle-aged Thug, it seems we've made an enemy now. I wonder when this will all come to an end. 0

I lay quietly in the hospital for an entire day. A Fei helped me take a leave of absence. When my mom brought me lunch at noon, I had no appetite to eat. In the afternoon, when school was out, A Fei came to visit me. I asked him how things were with Team. He replied that everything was fine. "Then I'll go to school for the competition tomorrow!" I told him. A Fei lowered his head and said, "Jie, the doctor said you can't go tomorrow. Don't worry about that; just focus on healing." "No way!" It felt like a thunderclap to me. Zhongqi Senior was already injured; if I didn't show up again, our Team would have no backcourt engine! I stood up and slowly walked toward the window. "Look, I'm perfectly fine! I'll be there tomorrow; the doctor said I can be discharged in the morning. If I can be discharged, why can't I compete?" My stubbornness flared up. 0

The reason our team has struggled this season is that our lineup has never been complete. First, our core inside player Bing Ge had to retire due to illness. Just when we finally got Bing Ge back, our captain Zhongqi Senior got injured again, and now it's me. Our lineup has never been whole; if we had maintained a complete roster, even if we lost, it wouldn't have been so disastrous. At least we would have had the ability to compete. 0

That night, I hardly slept at all. Early the next morning, I secretly changed back into my clothes and slipped out of the hospital. Luckily, I still had a few coins in my pocket. As soon as I stepped outside, I boarded the bus heading to school. When I arrived at the school gate, I bought some breakfast; only after eating did I feel strong enough to fight. With my head wrapped in bandages, I headed straight for the gymnasium. When I got there, no one was around; it was empty. I casually picked up a basketball and started practicing my shots. But just as my feet hit the ground after a jump shot, my mind suddenly went blank. Instinctively, I collapsed onto the floor and took about five or six seconds to regain my senses. What was going on? It was just a minor scrape on my head; why did it feel so serious? 0

I continued practicing slowly, taking breaks in between because I didn't want to be useless. Suddenly, the gym door opened, and I turned around to see A Fei rushing in anxiously. Upon seeing me, A Fei hurried over and scolded me as he walked: "I went to the hospital looking for you but knew you'd be here! Why don't you listen?" After making a shot while turning back around, I replied, "I'm fine! If I didn't sneak out early, I'd be stuck at home with my parents." 0

A Fei smiled wryly and said, "Do you think if you sneak out early that Uncle Xiang will let you off the hook?" Just then, the gym door opened again, and my mom's voice came through: "Jie! Why are you so stubborn? They told you not to engage in strenuous activities for a few days! What if you end up with lasting issues?" My parents walked in while scolding me. "Hey! Mom and Dad! Why did you follow me all the way to school? I'm aware of how my head feels; I'm fine!" I walked over and put my arms around their shoulders, but unexpectedly Dad spoke sternly: "No way! You must go home today; it's Saturday; you're supposed to rest this weekend before going back to school." His words were filled with authority. 0

"Alright then! Don't get worked up; today I'll just watch the game as a spectator and cheer from the sidelines," I quickly replied to them. After discussing among themselves for a moment, Mom and Dad looked up and said: "Okay, you can watch the game here; however, we have one condition." Hearing this from Dad gave me hope for victory; I quickly nodded: "Sure! I'll agree to any condition!" Mom and Dad chimed in unison: "That is we will watch it with you!" "Huh?!!" Almost fainting from shock. 0

After a while, Bing Ge and the others arrived. They surrounded me upon seeing me: "What's wrong Jie? I heard from A Fei that you were injured; is it serious?" Everyone was quite concerned about me. I'm fine; it's just a scrape on my head. Then they asked if I'd be able to play today; before I could respond, Mom jumped in first: "Kids, Jie probably won't be able to play today; his injury hasn't healed yet; he's still feeling dizzy..." Feeling helpless beside them, I shook my head as everyone comforted me after hearing Mom's words: "Oh well! It's important to heal first; you're hurt on your head—just watch us." 0

I couldn't say much more and nodded along as I sat down in the stands. After a while, our classmates arrived; when Situ Yanan and Xia Ying saw my head wrapped in bandages their expressions changed completely—filled with concern—but since my parents were sitting beside me on either side they could only worry silently. A little later Experiment Three arrived as our players walked into the Locker Room. I asked my parents if I could go into the Locker Room as a player from Yulin High School to cheer for my teammates; they agreed so off I went down the corridor toward the Locker Room. 0

As I was walking along, Xia Ying and Situ Yanan ran over. Xia Ying, looking pained, touched my head gently: "Soda, does it hurt...?" Her eyes even glistened with tears. Smilingly, I took her hand: "It's okay! Soda, it doesn't hurt; don't worry about it." Just then I noticed that Situ Yanan looked quite unnatural—almost filled with anger—so hurriedly turned to her: "Yanan, you're here too! Hehe! I'm fine; thanks for your concern!" 0
