Jiang Chen was not surprised by Jin Shengkai's actions. Although he had not shown himself for two years, his name still carried weight in the Huaxia Underground World.
"I will accept the Golden Buddha. As for the money, Boss Jin, your ill-gotten gains should be used to cultivate good relations. For him, ten million was nothing significant; however, the Golden Buddha was indeed an antique that radiated a faint Buddhist light—keeping it as a decorative piece at home would be quite nice.
"You are right, Mr. Jiang. I will certainly turn over a new leaf," Jin Shengkai quickly replied, beads of sweat forming on his forehead despite the cold weather. Fortunately, Jiang Chen accepted the Golden Buddha; as long as he did so, Jin Shengkai could finally escape this crisis.
"Is there anything else?" Jiang Chen asked.
"No, nothing else," Jin Shengkai stammered.
"Since there’s nothing else, you may leave," Jiang Chen said indifferently.
"Uh, okay," Jin Shengkai replied as if granted amnesty, quickly standing up and respectfully stepping aside.
"Let's go," Jiang Chen said to Xiong Sumei as he toyed with the Golden Buddha while walking toward her car.
Xiong Sumei snapped back to reality and hurriedly caught up with him.
Qian Wenwu and his group were left astonished, their eyes nearly popping out of their heads. This situation seemed off; wasn't Jin Shengkai supposed to be here looking for trouble? How did it turn into an apology to Jiang Chen? It was truly strange.
"Boss Jin, who is that kid? Why are you so afraid of him?" Qian Wenwu couldn't help but ask.
"You better be polite to Mr. Jiang; otherwise, don't blame me for being rude," Jin Shengkai's expression darkened, filled with frost.
Qian Wenwu was taken aback and dared not ask further questions; he quickly walked away. However, this unexpected scene left Qian Wenwu and the others feeling uneasy. They had hoped that today Jin Shengkai would teach Jiang Chen a lesson but were shocked to find that Jiang Chen was even more formidable than they had imagined, which they found hard to accept.
"What on earth is going on? Did Jin Shengkai take something wrong?" Qian Wenwu murmured.
"Jin Shengkai kept calling that kid Mr. Jiang; could he really have some significant background?" Li Chengdu speculated.
"Haha, look at him—his clothing style screams of a loser. If someone like him had any real influence, it would be unbelievable. Maybe Jin Shengkai mistook him for someone else?" Chen Shuifeng said skeptically.
