Jiang Chen glanced at Qian Wenwu and couldn't help but chuckle. How could Qian Wenwu act like such a fool?
"Miss Xiong, I think we don't need to eat with these people," Jiang Chen said.
"Uh, well, it's more lively with more people around, and I'm afraid it might get awkward later. To be honest, I'm not too familiar with the guest coming in either," Xiong Sumei replied awkwardly. After all, Qian Wenwu and his group had known her for a long time and were considered friends, so she couldn't just kick them out.
"Hehe, Mr. Jiang, do you know who tonight's guest is?" Qian Wenwu sneered. "It's the number one beauty of Southwest Province, Liu Pingping from the Liu Family. We're having dinner with her to discuss business. I think you're the last person who should be here. Miss Liu definitely won't welcome you. Rather than waiting for her to personally throw you out, you might as well go eat somewhere else."
"I think she would be even less welcoming to you," Jiang Chen retorted, finding the situation even more amusing. It had been a long time since he last saw Liu Pingping, and he never expected to meet her in such a setting tonight.
"Just wait and see," Qian Wenwu huffed.
"Exactly! We're meeting Miss Liu for business; what are you doing here?" Li Chengdu chimed in.
"Alright, alright, let's all keep it down. It's just a meal; there's no need to make it unpleasant. You all saw how things are today; be a bit polite to Mr. Jiang," Xiong Sumei advised with a frown.
After she spoke, her phone rang. Once she finished the call, she said, "Manager Liu has arrived at the entrance; I'll go greet her."
"I'll go too."
"Me too," Qian Wenwu and the others volunteered eagerly.
"Then Mr. Jiang, please wait in the private room for a moment," Xiong Sumei said before leading Qian Wenwu and the others outside to welcome Liu Pingping.
Liu Pingping was dressed in a khaki trench coat, paired with short boots and fitted trousers. Her short hair gave her an air of a strong businesswoman. Of course, the most striking feature was her beauty; she truly deserved the title of the number one beauty in Southwest Province. In her presence, Xiong Sumei and Chen Shuifeng suddenly felt overshadowed.
At that moment, Qian Wenwu, Li Chengdu, and Sun Rong were all stunned upon seeing Liu Pingping, nearly drooling.
"She's so beautiful!" they exclaimed inwardly.
"It's so unfair; why can she be this gorgeous?" Chen Shuifeng's eyes were filled with jealousy.
Xiong Sumei introduced Qian Wenwu, Li Chengdu, and Sun Rong to Liu Pingping. They quickly turned into sycophants, showering her with compliments and flattery. However, Liu Pingping clearly showed no interest in them and maintained only a polite smile.
If it weren't for the business meeting, she would have already given Qian Wenwu and his group the cold shoulder.
"Manager Liu, I'm sorry about them; they admire you so much that they insisted on coming. Please don't mind them," Xiong Sumei apologized.
"It's fine, but having too many people isn't ideal," Liu Pingping replied with a smile.
"Uh, Manager Liu, there's one more friend in the private room," Xiong Sumei added.
"Next time Miss Xiong invites so many people, you should let me know in advance. To be honest, I don't really like dining privately with too many people, especially men." Although Liu Pingping said this with a smile, her expression clearly showed some displeasure.
Xiong Sumei felt somewhat awkward and didn't know what to say. After all, it seemed she had been overly optimistic today by inviting so many people to dine with Liu Pingping; no wonder Liu Pingping appeared somewhat unwilling.
