“Dream Chasers!” Just as we were approaching the school gate, someone suddenly called out to us. I turned around and saw three familiar faces behind me. Who could they be... Oh, I remembered! It was Fantasi! It had been a year since we last met. What did they want? We walked over. “Long time no see, Fantasi,” A Fei greeted them first. The leader of the Fantasy Team sneered coldly, “Yeah, didn’t expect you guys to remember us.” Wow! These three hadn’t changed at all; their personalities were still as dramatic as ever.
I tried my best to suppress my annoyance. “How have you three been this past year?” I asked them calmly. “Getting by, I guess. Anyway, it’s better than you guys. I heard your captain won the championship in the City High League?” That captain really didn’t know how to speak properly. “Yeah, yeah, we were the final champions! Plus, our captain was named MVP. If you’re jealous, that’s normal; after all, we are the nemesis of the perennial second place,” I retorted with a hint of sarcasm. The forward from Fantasi lost his cool: “What did you say? Say that again!”
“Can’t understand Chinese? I said you are perennial second place!” I no longer held back, enunciating each word clearly. They were clearly the type who didn't know when to back off. “Hey! Are you looking for trouble?” The forward grabbed my collar. Seeing this, A Fei rushed over and pushed him away: “What do you think you’re doing?” The three from Fantasi laughed simultaneously, and the leader of the Fantasy Team said, “What does it matter to you that our captain won? You two are just useless so-called Team members. Where did your Team win a championship? Sorry, I’ve never heard of it. Hey, did you know? Haha!” The Point Guard even deliberately asked about their team to provoke us.
“If you’re brave enough, let’s go to the open space behind the school! Do you dare?” I was really about to explode with anger. The leader of the Fantasy Team scoffed: “Let’s go then! Who’s afraid? All five of us turned in unison towards that direction and saw Bing Ge and Zhao Bin! Following them was Situ Yanan, who rushed forward and shouted, “Who wants to fight? Let me see which side is causing trouble... Oh, it’s you guys! You’re those players called what’s-it-called who got beaten by my brother last year, right? What’s up? Want another round?” Seeing Fantasi, Situ Yanan became especially furious and yelled at them. Upon seeing Situ Jianfei, the members of Fantasi couldn’t help but lower their heads and avoid eye contact.
Situ Jianfei walked over to them and patted the captain on the shoulder: “You’re the captain of the Fantasy Team, right? I respect you, but if you’re looking for trouble again, don’t blame me for being rude!” When he said this last part, he gave two heavy pats on the shoulder. At this moment, the captain of Fantasi lost all his earlier bravado and kept his head down without saying a word. Situ Yanan, unable to contain her anger, walked over: “Why waste time talking to them? Let’s beat them up first; they’re not reasonable people at all!”
I didn’t expect that this girl would be so fiery and ruthless; she showed no restraint or kindness typical of girls at all. A Fei stepped forward and said to Situ Jianfei: “Jianfei, let them go.” “What?! A Fei, why are you pleading for them? Have you forgotten what happened last year? Do you remember what happened when you pleaded for them last time? They won’t appreciate it; they’ll only hate you more!” Situ Jianfei replied to A Fei. A Fei smiled: “It’s not worth it to argue with them; people like them will eventually get taught a lesson.” He then turned to Fantasi: “You guys can leave now; otherwise, I don’t know if you'll be able to leave later.”
“Hurry up and scram!” Zhao Bin shouted at them fiercely. The three from Fantasi glared at him before turning around to leave. “You dare glare at me again?” Zhao Bin shouted after them but was held back by me: “Hey, Zhao Gongzi, calm down! Let’s not stoop to their level. By the way, what brings you guys back to school?” As soon as I finished asking, they exchanged smiles while Situ Jianfei shyly said: “Didn’t we play a game together yesterday? Both Zhao Bin and I thought it was fun and exciting, so we came back today since we have nothing else to do during summer vacation.”
I didn’t expect they’d become addicted to playing basketball! With their skills, if they played against us for two months straight like this, we’d turn into amateurs! But I couldn’t hurt their feelings either. I smiled: “Haha, sounds good! But... since today neither Shuai Dong nor anyone else is here, we don’t have enough players; let’s change it up—let's have all six of us play instead.” Phew! There was no way out; we walked into the school gymnasium and played a so-called ten-minute three-on-three street basketball game again. This time they were even crazier; surprisingly, Situ Jianfei shot five times throughout the game—basically just catching and shooting every time he got the ball! If this continued for two months with me and A Fei, we’d either become iron gods or three-point kings ourselves! In the end, were they training us or were we training them? Sigh! What a helpless situation.
