Upon returning to my dormitory, I immediately plugged Lin Weiwei's USB Drive into my computer. Sure enough, there was an encrypted folder inside. However, this was no challenge for me; in my previous life, I had self-studied a considerable amount of information security knowledge to help Chen Mu Yang with some technical issues at work.
After spending some time cracking the password, the folder opened. The contents made me gasp in disbelief. Lin Weiwei, you truly are a "talent"!
Inside the folder were several forged contracts and invoices! The payees were a mixed bag—some were shell companies, while others were fictitious suppliers. The amounts weren't particularly large, ranging from a few thousand to twenty thousand, but collectively they added up to a significant sum.
Even more astonishing was that she had created a detailed Project Initial Operating Cost Budget Sheet, cleverly incorporating these fabricated expenses to make them look legitimate. Clearly, she intended to cash out using these fake contracts and invoices once the project funds came through.
In addition to these financial fraud documents, I also discovered a backup of her chat records with Wang Hao. The content was even more explosive. Wang Hao not only helped her devise strategies for forging these documents but also agreed to use his position to facilitate her in the subsequent funding approval and reimbursement processes. In return, Lin Weiwei promised to "develop well" with Wang Hao after everything was successful, even engaging in some indecent and explicit flirting.
As I read through the chat records, I felt a wave of nausea. Wang Hao was so infatuated that he dared to engage in such illegal activities just to please Lin Weiwei.
What surprised me the most was that the chat records also mentioned Chen Mu Yang. Lin Weiwei complained to Wang Hao that Chen Mu Yang had been overly suspicious lately, hindering her plans. Wang Hao suggested that she keep Chen Mu Yang under control and continue to utilize his technical skills until they secured the project, after which she could discard him. Lin Weiwei readily agreed and smugly remarked that Chen Mu Yang was just a fool who could be manipulated at her will.
I silently copied and backed up all the files and chat records multiple times and encrypted them securely. Then, I cleared all browsing traces from the USB Drive and restored it to its original state.
The next morning, I timed it perfectly and "accidentally" left the USB Drive at her dormitory door before Lin Weiwei realized it was missing.
Next, all I had to do was wait for the defense day to arrive.
On the day of the defense, the atmosphere was noticeably tense. Both my project and Lin Weiwei's were scheduled for the afternoon session.
The morning defenses went smoothly without any surprises. When it was our group's turn, I could sense that several of the reviewing professors, especially Professor Li, were particularly sharp-eyed.
I calmly presented my Online Education Platform project. From market analysis and product design to technical implementation and revenue models, I spoke fluently with clear logic and detailed data. My precise understanding of college students' learning needs and my explanation of the personalized recommendation algorithm piqued several professors' interest.
During the Q&A session, their questions were quite professional and in-depth. I answered each one composedly, showcasing my solid expertise and deep understanding of the project.
Finally, Professor Li posed a question: "Ye Zi, your project seems promising; however, the operating costs for an Online Education Platform—especially initial content development and technical investment—are typically high. Your financial budget appears somewhat optimistic. How do you ensure the stability of your funding chain?"
I knew this was the effect of the anonymous letter. Professor Li was seizing this opportunity to probe me further while testing my resolve.
