Ye Chen was startled by his low call, his heart skipping two beats. Hesitating, he lowered the leg that was resting on the threshold and turned around awkwardly. He looked up to meet the composed face of Pei Guanjing, feeling anxious and uncertain about what he had done to provoke him this time.
Pei Guanjing rubbed his temples in frustration. Given the situation, did they still need to avoid suspicion? Why couldn't they just address any issues directly?

Ye Chen blinked and feigned nonchalance as he said, "Never mind; it's getting late. Let's sleep." With that, he got up from Pei Guanjing's embrace and moved to the bedside, climbing into bed on the inner side.
Seeing this, Pei Guanjing smiled and stepped forward, removing his outer garment and lying down beside him. Then, just like the previous days, he pulled Ye Chen into his embrace before closing his eyes to sleep.

Liu Jin glanced back and made a fierce expression. The soldiers immediately retreated from the door and kindly closed it behind them, standing outside to wait.
