After parking the car, Lin Bingbing and her family walked towards the hotel with Jiang Chen. However, the Lin family intentionally quickened their pace, and the security guard at the entrance, recognizing Lin Bingbing, quickly stepped aside to let them through.
"Mom, what are you doing?" Lin Bingbing asked as her family surrounded her, noticing that Jiang Chen had not followed. She turned back to look for him.
"Hehe, I want to see how that guy gets in," Mother Lin said, her face lighting up at having shaken off Jiang Chen.
Sure enough, when the security guard saw Jiang Chen approaching, he immediately blocked him and asked for an invitation. Naturally, Jiang Chen did not have one.
"I'm sorry, you can't enter without an invitation," the guard said politely.
"Hey, security brother, he's my friend. Let him in," Lin Bingbing quickly interjected.
"Since he is Miss Lin's friend..." The guard was taken aback; he hadn't expected this ordinary-looking guy to be friends with a big star. It seemed even celebrities had poor relatives. Out of respect for Lin Bingbing, the guards were inclined to let him in. However, before they could finish their sentence, they were interrupted by Mother Lin's cold voice.
"This guy is not our friend; he's just a crazy fan of my daughter. I heard he’s trying to disrupt her engagement tonight. You can't let him in! If anything happens after he gets in, you won't be able to take responsibility," Mother Lin insisted.
The guards exchanged glances, unsure of whom to believe. However, given their responsibility for security that night, they decided it was better to err on the side of caution and prevent any potential danger.
"Sorry, handsome, but this event isn't suitable for you. Why don't you wait outside?" the guard said politely.
Lin Bingbing wanted to say something more but was silenced by her mother covering her mouth. The family then dragged Lin Bingbing inside.
As for Jiang Chen, he stood outside without moving; it wouldn’t be long before someone came to invite him in.
Inside the venue, many guests had already arrived. Lin Bingbing's fame was immense; almost everyone present recognized her. They came not only to honor the Shyr family but also because they had heard that Lin Bingbing was even more beautiful in person than on television, which piqued everyone's curiosity.
When Lin Bingbing made her entrance, the room fell silent.
The crowd's astonishment wasn't solely due to Lin Bingbing's beauty and grace but rather because of how she seemed almost forcibly brought in by her family—why was she resisting so strongly?
Seeing everyone looking at her, Lin Bingbing quickly composed herself; she needed to maintain her poise and not embarrass Jiang Chen.
