Early in the morning, Xia Ying called me, asking when we would go on a date. I told her I would be ready in two hours, then buried myself under the covers and fell back asleep. After a while, I received a text from Xia Ying. Squinting at my phone, I read: "I'll come to your house to find you! I've never been to your place." I sat up immediately and quickly replied, "Please don't! I'm heading to the entrance of Lijing Park right now, wait for me!" I hurriedly got dressed, washed up, and rushed out the door. On my way, I stopped by a bun shop and bought a few buns and two cups of soy milk. When I arrived at Lijing Park, Xia Ying was there listening to music with her headphones on. "Cookie! I'm here!" I called out as I approached her with the buns. I took them out and said, "Let's have breakfast—mushroom and tofu buns with freshly ground soy milk, still hot!"
Xia Ying took a bun and some soy milk and started eating. Then she linked her arm with mine as we walked into Lijing Park. We sat on a stone bench together, eating breakfast and listening to music. "Hey, Soda, how many days are you going to Beijing this time?" Xia Ying asked while holding her soy milk. I shook my head, "I don't know, but of course, I hope it lasts as long as possible! Hehe." Upon hearing this, Xia Ying frowned tightly. "Why? Is it because of that girl named Shiya? Hmph! I knew your intentions weren't pure; I'm not talking to you anymore!" She turned away from me. "It's not like that! The longer we stay in Beijing, the further we go in the North China Finals! Do you want us to be eliminated in the first round?" I explained to her. Slowly, Xia Ying turned her head back around. "Really? It's not because of Wang Yaqian?"
"Of course not! With such a considerate girlfriend like you, why would I look for other girls? I'm not brainless!" I said as I playfully flicked her nose. Xia Ying smiled brightly, "Hehe, love you so much; I'll reward you with a kiss." She wrapped her arms around my neck and pressed her lips against mine. My breath quickened as I set down my soy milk and cupped Xia Ying's face before kissing her back.
Xia Ying also wrapped her arms around my neck, and we embraced each other deeply in the woods of Lijing Park. After a long moment, we slowly parted our lips. Xia Ying gazed into my eyes from very close distance and said softly, "Jie, I love you..." I nodded gently, "Yes, Baby, I love you too; remember to wait for me to come back." Xia Ying smiled and rested her head on my chest when suddenly a flash went off nearby, startling us both. We turned our heads in unison to see someone about six meters away squatting down taking pictures. When he saw us turn around, he exclaimed, "Don't move! Keep that pose—good!" We both widened our eyes in shock: "Candid shot!" We stood up quickly. The photographer hurriedly explained, "No no no! I absolutely did not take a candid shot; I'm taking this openly! I just couldn't help but capture this beautiful pure love scene."
"Big brother, did you see everything we just did?" Xia Ying asked timidly. The photographer shook his head vigorously: "Absolutely not! When you were kissing just now, I definitely didn't see anything!" After hearing this, I almost fainted; it seemed he had indeed seen it. I quickly took Xia Ying's hand and ran away in embarrassment; getting caught kissing was just too humiliating. "Jie, do you think that guy will post the photos online?" Xia Ying asked worriedly. I shook my head: "I don't know; but if he does post them, it's fine! That would be like announcing to the world that I love you! Even if the whole world denies it, I still want to be with you—want to hold hands, want to embrace you; even if the earth cracks open, we must be together..." Unable to contain myself, I started singing. Yes! If it gets posted on Weibo maybe we'll go viral overnight; haha! We could enjoy being celebrities for a bit—who knows? Maybe some entertainment company will notice us.
Time flew by quickly; we had a great time together before reluctantly parting ways to head home. By the time I got back home it was already afternoon. Lying on my bed thinking about Xia Ying made me imagine how we would eventually reveal our relationship to both our parents and how we would get married one day—I just wanted to be with her forever without separation. The next day A Fei and I went to the hospital to visit Shuai Dong and Pang Hao. As soon as we walked in, we saw them sitting on their beds playing Go. When they noticed us enter, Shuai Dong called out: "You guys came at the right time! Look at Pang Hao—he's being such a sore loser! After making a move he wants to take it back." After putting down some fruit we asked them: "Alright already; when are you two getting discharged?" Shuai Dong replied: "The doctor wants me under observation for a few more days; I'll probably be out tomorrow or the day after. Pang Hao's ankle is sprained pretty badly; he can barely walk now—probably needs another four or five days!"
"Oh well; we're heading off to Beijing soon after this so it looks like you'll miss out; better stay here with Pang Hao," I told him. Shuai Dong nodded: "Yeah, got it!"
Just then Situ Jianfei and Zhao Bin pushed the door open and walked in. "Oh! Everyone's here! Looks like you're having quite the lively chat—but wait a minute; where's Ouyang?" Zhao Bin looked around the room before asking. "He's here! Just arrived!" As soon as Zhao Bin finished speaking Ouyang's voice echoed from outside as he pushed the door open: "Everyone's here now; keep chatting! Jie, come out for a second—I need to talk to you." Situ Jianfei turned his head towards me and said: "Jiefei is being mysterious again—let's all listen in!"
"Go away; take care of your injury instead of meddling!" Situ Jianfei shot back before pulling me outside with him. We walked through the hospital's back garden filled with birdsong and fragrant flowers. Turning towards him I said: "Jianfei, just tell me what’s up." Situ Jianfei stopped walking and turned around: "I think you probably guessed what I'm going to ask already!"
