"Well, I'll give it a try then, Jiang Chen. Just don't laugh at me," Liu Ying said, looking a bit timid.
"Why would I laugh at you? If you still don't have a girlfriend, I should be the one laughing," Jiang Chen replied with a chuckle.
People in the mundane world should experience love.
As Jiang Chen and Liu Ying discussed Shen Li and Shang Yan, the two women were on their way back to the company, also talking about Liu Ying and Jiang Chen.
"Li Li, you've already made your move on President Liu? After the cocktail party tonight, you’re not planning to have him drive you home, are you? And then invite President Liu upstairs for some tea?" Shang Yan teased.
"President Liu is such an outstanding person, and it seems he hasn't dated anyone before. If I don't take the initiative, someone else might beat me to it. Besides, President Liu and I are about the same age; I think we match quite well," Shen Li said with a smile, quite generous in her approach.
"Indeed, someone like President Liu is very charming. He even blushed earlier; it seems he really doesn't have much dating experience. Li Li, if you end your single status, what will I do? We promised to stay single together, and now you're abandoning me. How cruel!" Shang Yan lamented dramatically.
"Haha, once I win over President Liu, I'll have him introduce you to some eligible bachelors. Excellent people tend to know other excellent people; I'm sure President Liu knows many quality single guys," Shen Li laughed.
"That’s not necessarily true. What if President Liu introduces me to one of his classmates? Just because someone is excellent doesn’t mean everyone around them is," Shang Yan replied helplessly.
"You mean Jiang Chen? I think although his fashion sense isn't great, he has a good presence. He didn't seem intimidated at all when we were having dinner together. If President Liu helps him out a bit, he might achieve something too," Shen Li reflected thoughtfully; it wasn't insincere but rather honest.
During dinner earlier, although Jiang Chen spoke little, his aura surpassed that of Liu Ying's.
"What good is presence? It might just be an act. You know that men who feel insecure tend to put on a show in front of beauties like us. But still, President Liu treats him well; at his level, he hasn’t forgotten such a poor friend. That shows President Liu's character," Shang Yan remarked.
"I feel the same way. Tonight, I'm going to win over President Liu," Shen Li declared with a smile.
If Jiang Chen had heard the conversation between these two women, he might have felt happy for Liu Ying.
In the afternoon, Jiang Chen was in Liu Ying's office listening to her talk about the company's operations over the past two years and future prospects. By five o'clock, he returned to Tianyin Garden.
Lin Bingbing had already bought groceries and was preparing dinner.
Seeing Jiang Chen back home energized Lin Bingbing even more; her smile grew brighter.
"Jiang Chen, take a break. Just sit back and enjoy your meal later," Lin Bingbing said with a laugh as she noticed Jiang Chen peeking into the kitchen.
"Alright then, I'm looking forward to your cooking," Jiang Chen replied with a smile before sitting on the sofa and picking up a book to read.
Lin Bingbing busied herself in the kitchen for two hours and by seven o'clock had finished all the dishes.
Jiang Chen looked at the seven dishes on the table and was somewhat surprised.
"Your cooking skills could rival those of a five-star hotel chef," Jiang Chen said with a smile. The seven dishes were beautifully presented and full of flavor.
"Hehe, I wouldn't dare compare myself to a chef; as long as you like it," Lin Bingbing said shyly. Being able to cook a meal for Jiang Chen made her three years of culinary practice worthwhile.
