"In Qingcheng County, is there anyone else who dares to call themselves Brother Bao? You all know who Brother Bao is. If he shows up, that kid Jiang Chen won't have a good time. It's the New Year; don't push me," Chen Chaoyue said in a low voice, his tone filled with pride when mentioning Brother Bao.
"Classmate, don't be impulsive. This kind of thing can be resolved privately. We mustn't let Brother Bao handle it. I'll call Jiang Chen right now and ask him to come over," Old Yao, Jiang Chen's homeroom teacher, hurriedly interjected.
Brother Bao was the local bully in Qingcheng County, the top thug whose name had once echoed throughout the area. Although in recent years he had become much more low-key and even started doing good deeds, his notorious past had left a deep impression on the people of Qingcheng County. Even if he were to do good now, it would merely be seen as a public relations effort; no one truly believed that Brother Bao could change into a good person.
Old Yao clearly feared Brother Bao. Upon hearing Chen Chaoyue mention him, he quickly stepped forward and took out his phone, ready to call Jiang Chen, only to suddenly realize he didn't have Jiang Chen's number.
In the end, it was Qi Mu who dialed Jiang Chen's phone. However, Jiang Chen did not answer.
"Jiang Chen is riding his bike; he probably can't hear it," Qi Mu said, shaking his head.
"Why not call Jiang Jiewen? They're together," someone suggested.
"I'll call Jiang Jiewen," her homeroom teacher said helplessly as she dialed Jiang Jiewen's number. The teacher gently urged Jiang Jiewen to return with Jiang Chen to resolve the issue, adding that if Jiang Chen didn't come back, Chen Chaoyue would have no choice but to let Brother Bao handle it.
They expected that mentioning Brother Bao would frighten Jiang Jiewen, but she simply said to let him go find Brother Bao and hung up. She was on her way to a tea house with Jiang Chen; in her eyes, this was just a "date," and she wasn't concerned about anything else.
Hearing the busy signal on the line, Jiang Jiewen's teacher stood there in shock.
"What did Jiang Jiewen say?" Chen Chaoyue asked.
"She told you to go find Brother Bao; she didn't seem very concerned," the teacher replied honestly.
"Fine! They think I'm afraid?" Chen Chaoyue was fuming; despite bringing up Brother Bao, it seemed ineffective. In truth, he wasn't very familiar with Brother Bao himself; at his level, he was merely an underling in front of him. The idea of calling him 'brother' was just bravado on Chen Chaoyue's part.
"Chaoyue, listen to your teacher; it's better not to involve Brother Bao. We're all classmates; there's no need to escalate things," the teacher advised.
"Ha! I've already said we could settle this privately, but they refuse. Don't blame me then," Chen Chaoyue stood up and walked over to his beloved vehicle, pulling out his phone and dialing a number.
"This is getting out of hand. What's going on with that kid Jiang Chen? Sigh," Old Yao said anxiously.
"Teacher, we should call the police," a classmate suggested.
"Yes, call the police," Old Yao nodded after some thought. It seemed like the best course of action; otherwise, they would be in big trouble once Brother Bao arrived.
While Old Yao was calling the police, Chen Chaoyue had already connected with Brother Bao on the phone. To avoid letting everyone see him groveling before Brother Bao, he stepped aside.
"Who is it?" Brother Bao asked bluntly without any pleasantries.
