“Boom!” Finally, the entire mountain peak exploded, resembling a massive bomb detonation. The shockwave from the explosion sent debris flying in all directions. Dodging a few larger rocks, Mo Wen sprinted toward the cave.
As the dust settled, the mountain peak was no longer there, and the once flat cave floor had been blasted into a massive deep pit. Peering into the pit, a fluffy figure suddenly sprang out and lunged straight at Mo Wen.
Of course, it was Xiao Hei that emerged from the pit. Mo Wen instinctively reached out to catch the leaping Xiao Hei. He was eager to see how Xiao Hei had transformed after its breakthrough; it should at least resemble a Qilin by now. But first, he needed to catch it.
“@¥% , mumble, gurgle,” before he could even take a good look at the fluffy creature in his arms, a strange voice echoed in his mind.
“Uh... speak human language.”
“Boss, I missed you so much!” A childish voice responded.
“Uh... is that you, Xiao Hei?” Mo Wen was somewhat taken aback; the fluffy Little Guy in his arms seemed like an entirely different species.
“Of course it’s me! Boss, don’t you remember me?” Little Guy looked up at Mo Wen.
“Haha, I remember, of course I do. It’s just that your transformation is so drastic; I can hardly believe it.” Mo Wen chuckled awkwardly, but inwardly he thought, how could I recognize you in this ridiculous form? However, he didn’t dare say it out loud. He felt a bit apprehensive; after all, Xiao Hei had inherited the Qilin's legacy. Now that it had transformed and awakened, who knew how strong it had become? If he angered it by calling it ridiculous and got beaten up in return, that would be quite embarrassing.
“Boss, what does ‘ridiculous’ mean?”
“Where did you hear that?” Mo Wen was astonished; how did it know what he was thinking?
“You were just thinking that I’ve turned into this ridiculous form and that you couldn’t recognize me,” Xiao Hei said as it poked its head out of his embrace and looked curiously into Mo Wen’s eyes.
“Uh... ‘ridiculous’ means handsome and majestic; someone who commands respect at first sight. That’s basically what it means.” Mo Wen forced a smile; indeed, the talent of a Divine Beast was extraordinary. To avoid being beaten up, he flattered Xiao Hei while suppressing his true thoughts.
“Haha, do I really look ridiculous now?” Upon hearing Mo Wen's words, Xiao Hei appeared quite pleased with itself.
“Yeah, very ridiculous.” Mo Wen felt like giving it a hundred thumbs up.
“All right, have you hugged enough for one day? Get down.” Mo Wen gently placed Xiao Hei on the ground and sat down himself.
“I’m still a child; I’m not an old man.” Standing on the ground, Xiao Hei shot Mo Wen a disdainful glance. Feeling somewhat speechless after being scorned by Xiao Hei before he could even complain about it himself, Mo Wen realized how long it had been since anyone had spoken to him. Even this telepathic communication felt refreshing and lightened his heart.
“Tell me about your situation,” he said as he looked at Xiao Hei standing on the ground. Its appearance was completely different from what he had imagined. The current Xiao Hei was simply unrecognizable: its paws still resembled bear claws from before; its head was neither dragon nor horse-like; two whiskers hung from its mouth like those of a carp; its round ears retained their original shape; two bulges on its head seemed to be developing into horns; its body resembled that of a bear; and its tail had taken on some dragon-like features. What used to be over two feet long now measured only about one foot, covered in bright red fur that made it look like a red furball.
