"My dad seems to have run into some tricky business; maybe you can help out. I'll figure out the details and let you know!" Jiang Jiewen added.
"Okay!" Jiang Chen agreed. He was willing to accommodate Jiang Jiewen's request as much as possible.
Jiang Chen decided to continue staying at his grandmother's house.
That night, a light drizzle began to fall. At this moment, thirty miles from Qingcheng County on Qingyi Mountain, several police cars slowly made their way along the mountain road. This road had been carved out by the mine years ago; however, it had been abandoned for quite some time and rarely saw visitors.
As they reached halfway up the mountain and were still some distance from the mine, a landslide blocked the road. The police cars had no choice but to stop as a group of officers got out, led by Jiang Shi and Li Fuxiu.
This was likely the crime scene they had mentioned earlier in the afternoon.
"Li Ting, why don't you stay here while we go take a look?" Jiang Shi suggested with a serious expression.
"Let's go together, Jiang Shi. Do you think I haven't seen my fair share of storms as the director? Since I'm here, I want to be on-site; I want to see what exactly is causing trouble here," Li Fuxiu said sternly.
Since Li Fuxiu insisted on going together, Jiang Shi didn't say much more. Although this case was strange, there had been no casualties so it should be safe; besides, over twenty armed police officers were present tonight.
The group braved the light rain and navigated around the landslide. In the darkness of night, the mountain forest felt particularly eerie as beams of flashlight occasionally pierced through the rain curtain.
A week prior, several college students looking for something to do brought tents to Qingyi Mountain for wilderness survival training. That night they camped out at the mine. Although it was abandoned, many basic facilities remained intact. They set up their tents in a dilapidated building and raised their glasses under the moonlight while drinking beer and chatting about everything under the sun.
