"Alright, let's get ashore and rest for a bit," Mo Wen said, stowing away the Xing Zhou. He searched for a platform where he and his beast could prepare to pay homage at the Temple of the Five Viscera. Since they had already entered the Confusion Zone, it was best to fill their stomachs before attempting to break free. Unbeknownst to him, his mindset was shifting.
"Boss, there are no Demon Beasts around, and I don't sense any danger. Why do you say we're trapped?" Xiao Hei asked, drooling over the sizzling Beast Leg while glancing at Mo Wen.
"We're stuck in the Confusion Zone..." Mo Wen replied, flipping the Beast Leg as he began explaining the Confusion Zone to Xiao Hei.
"Wow! Boss, you're not lying! This world is truly amazing! Let's go on an adventure!" After hearing Mo Wen's explanation, Xiao Hei's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Sighing softly, Mo Wen looked at Xiao Hei. He had spent a whole meal's worth of time explaining the Confusion Zone only to receive this reaction. It seemed that this little guy was completely oblivious to their current predicament.
"Boss, didn't you say that the unknown is what makes things exciting? If we can unravel the mystery of this Confusion Zone, we'll definitely attract everyone's attention! Let's set off!" Noticing Mo Wen's sigh, Xiao Hei added enthusiastically before jumping off the platform and diving into the lava.
Watching Xiao Hei's figure disappear, Mo Wen shook his head. He regretted showing him those adventure tales. However, what Xiao Hei suggested did seem like a decent choice; at least it gave him a more positive attitude toward facing the Confusion Zone. He jumped off the platform, set down the Xing Zhou, and began moving in a specific direction. After swimming a lap around, Xiao Hei returned to the bow of the ship, claiming he was clearing the way for his boss.
"Xiao Hei, you can't fall asleep this time," Mo Wen warned him ahead of time due to past experiences.
"Don't worry, Boss! I promise I won't sleep this time," Xiao Hei replied excitedly without turning back as he focused on what lay ahead.
Despite Xiao Hei's assurance, Mo Wen didn't take it to heart. He couldn't rely on this unreliable fellow. Moreover, he felt responsible for their accidental entry into the Confusion Zone. If he hadn't been tempted by Xiao Hei's skills and wanted to learn them himself, they wouldn't have ended up like this. The Divine Beast Skill he had exchanged eight Beast Cores for took him ages to realize he couldn't cultivate it at all. In the end, not only could he not master the skill, but he also got lost here due to overthinking it. Fortunately, they hadn't encountered any Demon Beasts along the way; otherwise, before they even entered the Confusion Zone, they would have become prey.
"Just as I thought." Mo Wen cautiously piloted the Xing Zhou forward while releasing his senses to probe for any movements around them. He discovered that his original perception range of twenty miles had shrunk to just a few miles. Additionally, several strands of his Divine Perception appeared within his senses; both he and Xiao Hei were detected as well—this was a result of interference distorting their perception. As he approached a nearby "stone pillar," he maneuvered the Xing Zhou closer and found that what had appeared as a pillar shattered like glass upon closer inspection.
Onboard the Xing Zhou, Mo Wen reset the Timer. Now only the Timer remained functional; time was both crucial and inconsequential for him at that moment—the priority was to escape from the Confusion Zone as quickly as possible.
