"Thank you, Dad." Jiang Jiewen smiled brightly, relieved that the issue that had been troubling her could finally be resolved.
The next day, on the twenty-fifth day of the twelfth lunar month, there were only five days left until Lunar New Year's Eve.
Li Fuxiu arrived early in the morning and sought out Jiang Shi, expressing his desire to visit Jiang Chen, hoping that Jiang Shi's daughter could facilitate the meeting.
Although Jiang Jiewen was somewhat reluctant, she felt it would be impolite to refuse.
"Uncle Li, I’m not sure if Jiang Chen is willing to meet you. If he doesn’t want to see you, please don’t take it personally," Jiang Jiewen said in advance.
"I see that your relationship with Mr. Jiang is quite special; I believe you can persuade him," Li Fuxiu replied with a smile.
With no other option, Jiang Jiewen took out her phone and called Jiang Chen.
"Alright, since he reached out to you, I’ll naturally give you face. Nine o'clock at Flag Mountain Park," Jiang Chen said.
Hearing that Jiang Chen agreed made Jiang Jiewen genuinely happy, but she thought to herself that this should not become a regular occurrence; she didn’t want to be the go-between every time someone wanted to meet Jiang Chen.
At nine o'clock, at Flag Mountain Park, Jiang Chen arrived punctually. In the pavilion at Flag Mountain Park, he met with Jiang Shi, Jiang Jiewen, and Li Fuxiu.
Li Fuxiu's purpose for seeking him out was something Jiang Chen could easily guess.
"Mr. Jiang, hello! I couldn’t see clearly last night in the dark, but now that I see you today, Mr. Jiang is indeed impressive—a true dragon among men," Li Fuxiu said enthusiastically as he approached Jiang Chen with warm compliments.
"Jiang Chen!" As soon as she saw him, Jiang Jiewen felt a surge of joy and sweetly called out his name.
Jiang Shi glanced at Jiang Chen but merely moved his lips without greeting him; it was too awkward for him to face Jiang Chen. However, since his superior Li Fuxiu insisted on his presence, he had no choice but to muster the courage to come along.
"Director Li, what brings you here?" Jiang Chen asked straightforwardly.
"Well, Mr. Jiang, you are quite remarkable at such a young age. Our police department would like to collaborate with you. Of course, this won’t take up much of your time; you would just be lending your name. If any special incidents arise, we hope you can make an appearance—after all, it’s for the good of Huaxia," Li Fuxiu said cautiously and slowly.
"If Director Li is here for this matter, I’m afraid I cannot agree because I am already affiliated with an official organization. I wonder if Director Li knows Zeng Xianyi—Old Zeng?" Jiang Chen replied.
"Old Zeng? Of course! Does Mr. Jiang already have ties with the military?" Li Fuxiu suddenly realized that Zeng Xianyi was a big shot from the military—an impressive figure who had come from the battlefield.
Not only did Li Fuxiu know him, but so did Jiang Shi.
"Old Zeng had me take on the title of Major General," Jiang Chen nodded without hiding anything.
"Oh! Then… Mr. Jiang, let’s pretend I didn’t say anything," Li Fuxiu quickly laughed awkwardly. He had initially thought that Jiang Chen lacked an official background; bringing such a remarkable person into their fold would have been a significant achievement for him. However, since Old Zeng had already made his move first and established a connection with Jiang Chen, there was little more he could say.
Jiang Shi secretly glanced at Jiang Chen and began to regard him with even greater respect.
Jiang Chen turned out to be a hidden Major General. I had some concerns that Jiang Chen might be too powerful, leading to uncontrollable situations, but since he was Major General Jiang, he naturally wouldn't pose a threat to Huaxia.
"Director Li, is there anything else?" Jiang Chen spoke again.
