Lin Yu watched as the Palace Maid collapsed to the ground, as if her spine had been pulled out, her body limp and her eyelids fluttering, on the verge of losing consciousness.
"Oh dear, what kind of act is this?" Lin Yu thought anxiously, her heart racing. "Inverse Light, take a look quickly. Why is this girl playing the 'sleeping beauty' routine?"
"Host, you wouldn't believe it, but this situation is quite strange. I've detected some unusual activity; someone must have used some sort of enchantment to knock her out," the System replied, its tone unusually serious, devoid of its usual levity.
Upon hearing this, Lin Yu's heart sank. The palace truly was a place of hidden talents; even mind control techniques were being employed!
"What about this Palace Maid? Is she going to be okay?" Lin Yu asked, glancing at the unconscious maid sprawled on the floor like a dead pig, feeling increasingly uneasy.
"Don't worry, Host. The Palace Maid is currently fine; she’s just been enchanted by that Spell. A good sleep should help her recover," the System explained.
Lin Yu finally breathed a sigh of relief. As long as she was okay, Lin Yu wouldn’t feel so guilty.
"So what do we do now? We can't just leave her here, right? It’s freezing cold; she might catch a chill," Lin Yu said while rubbing her arms for warmth.
"Host, the priority is to quickly identify who did this. Otherwise, there could be more victims," the System reminded her.
Lin Yu nodded; this was indeed a serious matter. In the palace, conspiracies were more numerous than dishes in the Imperial Kitchen—who knew who would be the next unfortunate soul?
She hurriedly called over a few nimble Palace Maids to carry the unconscious one back inside for proper care while she focused on figuring out how to solve this case.

After a moment of waiting, the System's "radar" finally picked up some activity: "Host, I've got a lead! The culprit is in the Imperial Study; you should hurry and check it out!"
The Imperial Study? That was the place where the Emperor discussed matters of state and reviewed memorials. Could it be that someone intended to harm the Emperor?
Lin Yu's heart raced, and she felt as if the wind was at her feet, eager to fly straight to the Imperial Study.
As she hurried along, her mind played out scenes like a movie, recalling all the prominent figures in the harem.

Lin Yu felt as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, but she knew that there were strict rules in the palace and she couldn't force her way in.
"Please, good sir, I have urgent matters to report to the Emperor—matters of life and death. Would you be so kind as to relay my request?" Lin Yu pleaded with a smile, showering him with flattering words.
The Guard, caught off guard by her persistence, hesitated for a moment before finally agreeing.
"Wait here; I'll be right back." With that, he dashed inside.
After a while, the Guard returned and nodded to Lin Yu, saying, "Your Highness, the Emperor requests your presence."
Lin Yu quickly adjusted her attire, took a deep breath, and stepped into the Imperial Study.
She saw Jiang Chen sitting upright on the dragon throne, his brows furrowed in a tight frown, as if he were facing a difficult problem.
"Your servant greets Your Majesty," Lin Yu said respectfully, performing a proper bow.
"Consort, no need for formalities. You seem eager to see me; is there something urgent?" Jiang Chen's voice carried a hint of fatigue.
"Your Majesty, I have discovered that someone is causing trouble in the palace using a sinister spell that can control people's hearts. Moreover, it seems that this person's target is you!" Lin Yu wasted no time and spoke directly.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Chen's expression changed dramatically; his already furrowed brows tightened even further.
"Do you have any evidence?" he asked in a low voice, with an almost imperceptible tremor.
Lin Yu recounted her findings to Jiang Chen in detail, including the fainted Palace Maid and the System's warning about "Inverse Light."
After listening, Jiang Chen fell silent for a while, seemingly contemplating the truth of the matter.
"Consort, this is a serious issue. I will send someone to investigate discreetly," he finally said, his tone grave.
"Your Majesty, I also wish to help. Please let me know what you need me to do!" Lin Yu declared confidently, ready to face any challenge.
Jiang Chen looked into Lin Yu's bright eyes filled with determination and courage, feeling warmth spread through his heart.
"Very well, I appreciate your willingness to assist," he nodded and allowed a rare smile to grace his lips.
Lin Yu received her orders and stepped out of the Imperial Study.
She knew this mission was extraordinary, with a host of dangers and challenges awaiting her.
But she felt no fear at all, for she had the System's "Inverse Light," a powerful tool, and Jiang Chen backing her up.
She believed that as long as she was clever and bold enough, she could handle this beautifully, protect Jiang Chen, and uncover the conspiracy lurking in the shadows!
"Inverse Light, let's get to work!" Lin Yu shouted in her mind, excitement bubbling within her.
"Got it, Host! A new mission has been arranged for you, just watch!" The System's voice was cheerful, filling Lin Yu with energy.
Lin Yu opened the System panel and indeed found a new task:
Task Name: Mysterious Mission
Task Objective: Help the Emperor resolve a national crisis
Task Reward: 10,000 Points, Special Item "Qiankun Bag"
