Lin Yu hung up the phone, tossing her device onto the soft sofa with a sharp "thud." She crossed her arms, her long nails unconsciously tapping against her arms, producing a faint "tap-tap" sound.
"Jiang Chen, you just won't let it go, will you?" She bit her lip, her voice filled with anger. "You think just because I’m not making a fuss, I’m some kind of sick cat? This time, I’ll make you taste the bitter fruit of your own actions!"
"Host, host, calm down, calm down. Getting angry is bad for your health; it can make you age faster," the distinct electronic voice of Inverse Light chimed in Lin Yu's mind, laced with a hint of mischief. "Let’s think about how to deal with that old fox Jiang Chen."
"You’re right, Inverse Light. I can’t let him get under my skin and lose my cool. I need to stay calm and think of a strategy," Lin Yu took a deep breath, trying to steady her rising emotions as if encouraging herself. She walked to the window and pulled back the curtains, allowing warm sunlight to flood the room in hopes of dispelling the gloom in her heart.
"I have a brilliant idea! Hehe, we can turn his own tactics against him. Let’s use those spies he has planted in our company to set a trap for him," Inverse Light's voice brimmed with pride as if it could already envision Jiang Chen’s misfortune.
"Turn his tactics against him?" Lin Yu's eyes lit up like stars in the night sky. "Great idea! Inverse Light, you truly are my genius strategist! Let’s do it!"
Without hesitation, Lin Yu sprang into action. Like an experienced hunter, she began setting traps to lure her prey. She intentionally released some half-true information that acted as bait for Jiang Chen's spies.
First, she pretended to be pursuing a new investment opportunity that sounded promising and lucrative enough to entice anyone. Then she deliberately leaked some details about the investment plan—carefully designed to contain both real and false elements, making it difficult to discern truth from deception.
Sure enough, Jiang Chen's spies quickly took the bait. They transmitted the false information to Jiang Chen like cats drawn to the scent of fish.
Upon receiving the news, Jiang Chen believed it wholeheartedly and immediately sprang into action. He thought he had once again grasped Lin Yu's movements and could seize this project before her, delivering a heavy blow to her ambitions. He quickly mobilized substantial funds, like a gambler ready to bet everything on this venture.
However, he had no idea that all of this was part of Lin Yu's meticulously crafted trap—a colossal snare that would lead him to ruin.
Lin Yu had anticipated Jiang Chen’s every move and had prepared thoroughly, much like a patient chess player waiting for their opponent to fall into their carefully laid out strategy.
Just as Jiang Chen was about to invest, Lin Yu suddenly closed in on him like a skilled fisherman reeling in their catch. She exposed Jiang Chen's conspiracy, bringing his corporate spies to justice and revealing all his crimes—including how he used unethical means to acquire trade secrets, engaged in malicious competition, and harmed other companies' interests.
Jiang Chen's scheme was completely unraveled; he was like a magician whose tricks had been exposed—left in utter disarray. His reputation lay in tatters; his company suffered tremendous losses as stock prices plummeted, partners withdrew their investments en masse, and clients began to drift away. Frantic and trapped like a cornered beast, he could only watch helplessly as his business empire crumbled around him.
Meanwhile, Lin Yu emerged from this incident with the trust of her employees firmly secured and her position strengthened. Not only did she successfully counterattack Jiang Chen, but she also made him pay dearly for his actions—truly killing two birds with one stone.
"Host, you are truly amazing! You're like the Zhuge Liang of the business world!" Inverse Light exclaimed, excitement lacing their voice with admiration. "You successfully defeated that old fox, Jiang Chen. That's fantastic! He should know by now that we are not to be trifled with!"
"This is all thanks to your help, Inverse Light," Lin Yu replied with a smile, a relaxed expression on her face. "Without your intelligence support, I wouldn't have been so successful. You're my secret weapon!"
"Host, you're too kind. It's what I'm supposed to do. After all, I'm your exclusive System," Inverse Light said humbly, a hint of pride in their tone.
"Alright, enough of that. What should we do next? We can't just bask in the joy of victory forever," Lin Yu asked, her eyes filled with anticipation for the future.
"Host, next we need to continue developing the company, strengthening our capabilities, creating new products, exploring new markets, and enhancing our brand influence," Inverse Light explained. "Only by doing this can we better face future challenges and remain undefeated in the fierce market competition."
"You're right. To forge iron, one must be strong oneself; only by becoming powerful can we face any challenge without fear," Lin Yu nodded in agreement. "We must keep pushing forward to achieve our goals and become leaders in the industry, making those who once looked down on us take notice!"
"Host, I believe you can definitely do it. You're so smart and capable, and with my help as your super System, we will surely succeed!" Inverse Light encouraged, their voice brimming with confidence.
Lin Yu smiled slightly, her eyes filled with determination and assurance. She knew the road ahead was long and fraught with unknowns and challenges, but she would not give up. She would continue to strive for greatness. She wanted everyone to know that she, Lin Yu, was not a woman who could be easily defeated!
Just then, Lin Yu's phone suddenly rang, breaking the tranquility of the room.
She picked up her phone and saw that the caller ID displayed "Jiang Chen."
Lin Yu frowned slightly; after hesitating for a moment, she finally pressed the answer button.
"Hello, Jiang Chen," Lin Yu's tone was icy, like a block of ancient ice devoid of any emotion.
"Lin Yu, you won," Jiang Chen's voice came through the phone sounding somewhat weary and even tinged with resignation, as if he had aged ten years.
"I know," Lin Yu replied flatly, her voice betraying no hint of emotional fluctuation.
"I didn't expect you to be this strong; I underestimated you," Jiang Chen said, a hint of self-mockery in his tone.
"You've underestimated me, Jiang Chen. I've told you before, you're not my match," Lin Yu replied, her voice brimming with confidence.
"I concede," Jiang Chen admitted, his voice heavy with disappointment.
"I know," Lin Yu said calmly.
"I hope we can coexist peacefully from now on and stop this fighting," Jiang Chen said, his tone laced with a plea.
"That's impossible," Lin Yu rejected without hesitation, her voice firm and unyielding. "Between us, it's a matter of life and death!"
"Why? Can't we turn hostility into harmony?" Jiang Chen asked, confusion evident in his voice.
"Because I will never forgive you for what you've done to me. The pain you've caused me will never be forgotten!" Lin Yu declared, her voice filled with hatred.
"Alright, I understand," Jiang Chen sighed, his tone tinged with helplessness and bitterness. "If that's the case, let's see how this unfolds."
With that, Jiang Chen hung up the phone.
Lin Yu set her phone down, a whirlwind of emotions swirling within her like a tipped-over jar of mixed flavors—sweet, sour, bitter, salty—all crashing together in her heart.
She had won, yet she felt no joy; instead, there was an indescribable sense of loss and melancholy.
This victory had come at a great cost. She had sacrificed so much and lost even more. For this win, she had given up her rest time, her personal life, and even her health.
But she knew she had to keep moving forward. She couldn't dwell on the past or become mired in old grudges and grievances.
She needed to keep striving, to create a future that belonged to her, a brighter future.
At that moment, Inverse Light suddenly spoke up, "Host, I have detected a powerful energy fluctuation approaching us. This energy wave is strange; it seems to not belong to this world."
Lin Yu's heart sank, an ominous premonition surged within her. This sudden anomaly caught her off guard. "What? An energy fluctuation? Are you sure? Inverse Light, can you analyze the source of this energy wave?" she asked urgently, her voice tinged with tension and unease.
"Analyzing... Please wait, Host... The analysis is complete. This energy fluctuation is extremely powerful and highly unstable; it seems poised to erupt at any moment... Its source... is..." Inverse Light's electronic voice suddenly became intermittent, as if it was being interfered with.
"What is the source? Inverse Light, what's wrong? Speak!" Lin Yu grew more anxious, a sense of dread creeping over her as if something terrible was about to happen.
"Source... unknown... danger... Host... run..." Inverse Light's voice weakened further until it vanished completely.
Lin Yu's face turned pale; her mind went blank. She had no idea what was happening or what to do next.
What was this energy fluctuation? What would it bring? Was it a blessing or a curse?
A terrifying thought surfaced in Lin Yu's mind.
Could it be Jiang Chen's revenge? Did he have any hidden cards left? Was he concealing some unknown secret weapon?
Or was this merely the beginning of a larger conspiracy? Was there an even more terrifying enemy lurking in the shadows, watching her?
Lin Yu's heart raced faster; waves of fear and unease washed over her. She had no idea what would happen next, but she knew that a greater crisis was closing in on her…
