Tianji Valley, just as described in the ancient county records, is deeply hidden among the towering mountains and rugged peaks.
The mountain paths here are exceptionally treacherous, with steep and perilous sections everywhere. Coupled with the dense forests and thickets surrounding the area, it makes this region seldom visited by anyone.
Su Mu embarked on this arduous journey alone.
He traversed mountains and crossed rivers, eating whatever dry rations he could find to stave off hunger, and resting only when he could find a place to shield himself from the wind and rain. After several days of difficult travel, he finally arrived at this mysterious and secluded valley.
At the entrance, lush vines intertwined to form a natural green barrier; thorny brambles grew densely, completely obscuring the entrance. Without spending some effort to carefully search, one would hardly notice this gateway leading into the valley.
Su Mu cautiously extended his hands, laboriously pushing aside the layers of vines before squeezing himself into the valley.
As soon as he stepped inside, he was captivated by the breathtaking scenery before him: towering trees shot up into the sky like enormous green umbrellas; a crystal-clear stream meandered through like a silver ribbon, its waters gurgling and producing a melodious sound; the air was filled with a faint and refreshing herbal fragrance that lifted his spirits.
Continuing along the stream deeper into the valley, it wasn't long before he spotted some crumbling walls and remnants of structures.
Additionally, there were several stone houses scattered around, heavily wrapped in verdant vines.
Although these buildings now appeared dilapidated, their remaining scale and layout still hinted at a once-thriving prosperity. It was easy to imagine that this place had once been a bustling village filled with life.
As he walked on, Su Mu came upon a relatively well-preserved stone house.
He paused, gazing at this ancient and mysterious structure before him.
The marks of time were deeply etched into this stone house; the once-sturdy stone door had decayed due to years of neglect, appearing as though it would crumble to dust with just a gentle touch.
Su Mu cautiously extended his right hand and gently pushed against the crumbling stone door.
With a creak, the door seemed to awaken, slowly swinging open and releasing a wave of stale air.
Inside the room, thick layers of dust filled the air, and each step stirred up clouds of particles that made him cough involuntarily.
Upon closer inspection, he saw spider webs hanging in every corner like fine curtains, transforming the space into a long-forgotten world of webs. It was clear that no one had set foot here for a long time; time seemed to have frozen in this place.
However, Su Mu was not intimidated by the scene before him.
He took a deep breath, steadied his mind, and began to search the room meticulously.
His gaze swept over every corner, leaving no potential hiding spot for clues unchecked.
Finally, among a pile of clutter, he discovered several tattered books.
Su Mu hurried forward and picked up the books.
He gently blew away the dust on their surfaces and slowly turned the pages.
What caught his eye was a dense array of text, filled with knowledge about medicine and Gua Shu! Su Mu felt a surge of joy within him, as this content bore many similarities to the "Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual" he had been searching for.
At that moment, his gaze inadvertently fell upon a portrait hanging on the wall.
The figure in the painting was a kind-eyed old man dressed in a long robe, holding an ancient book and smiling as he gazed into the distance.
Su Mu felt an uncanny resemblance between the old man in the painting and the mysterious elder he had encountered before, though the figure in the artwork appeared somewhat younger.
At the bottom of the portrait, there was a line of small text: "Tianji Su Clan, Eighteenth Generation Heir, Su Changqing." Upon reading this line, Su Mu's heart skipped a beat, for the name "Su Changqing" was all too familiar to him; it was none other than his own grandfather!
However, a perplexing question arose in his mind: if his grandfather was the Eighteenth Generation Heir of the Tianji Su Clan, then why was his father not involved in this lineage?
And what generation heir would he himself become within the Tianji Su Clan?
A series of questions flooded his mind, making Su Mu feel that he was drawing ever closer to a long-hidden truth.
Filled with anticipation and curiosity, he decided to continue searching meticulously in the room, hoping to uncover more crucial clues that could help unravel the mystery.
After some diligent effort, Su Mu finally made a discovery.
In one corner of the room, he found a concealed compartment that was not easily noticeable.
He gently opened the hidden space and found an old diary quietly resting inside. Although the cover was somewhat yellowed with age, four large characters were clearly inscribed on it—"Su Changqing's Journal."
Taking a deep breath, Su Mu carefully cradled this precious diary in his hands as if it were a rare treasure.
Then, he slowly turned to the first page of the journal, ready to delve into its recorded contents…
