The shadow approached silently, like a ghost.
In the dim, yellowish light, Su Mu widened his eyes, trying hard to discern the true identity of the figure before him.
Finally, as the distance closed, Su Mu was able to see the person clearly.
The figure was exceptionally tall and imposing, resembling a towering mountain standing there.
He wore a long black robe that billowed around him, adding an air of mystery.
What stood out most was the black mask covering his face, obscuring all but a pair of sharp, eagle-like eyes.
Those eyes were cold and piercing, sending chills down Su Mu's spine.
A sudden tremor ran through Su Mu's heart as an ominous premonition arose within him. Who was this mysterious man who had appeared so suddenly?
Why had he chosen this moment to show himself?
Could it be that he had some intricate connection to the legendary Tianji Su Clan?
Countless questions raced through Su Mu's mind.
At that moment, the man in black approached steadily with powerful strides until he stood before Su Mu.
He slightly lowered his head and spoke in a deep, hoarse voice, “You have finally arrived.” Those simple four words struck Su Mu's heart like a heavy hammer.
Su Mu instantly became alert, focusing intently on the enigmatic figure before him. He demanded sharply, “Who are you? Why are you here?”
In response to Su Mu's inquiry, the man in black did not answer immediately. Instead, he smirked slightly, revealing a knowing smile, and then retorted, “Are you Su Mu?”
Hearing his name spoken accurately by the stranger shocked Su Mu deeply.
This person not only knew his identity but seemed to be fully aware of his purpose for being there. There was no doubt that this visitor meant trouble! With this thought in mind, Su Mu clenched his fists tightly and took a deep breath before replying gravely, “Yes, I am Su Mu. But you still haven’t answered my question—who are you?”
The man in black let out a cold laugh that echoed eerily in the silent night.
After laughing, he slowly said, “Who I am is not important; what truly matters is that I know you well—everything about you and your intentions for coming here.”
Su Mu's heart was shrouded in heavy mist, filled with suspicion as he stared at the enigmatic man in black before him, pondering just how much the other party truly knew.
Finally unable to contain his curiosity and anxiety, Su Mu asked, "You can actually guess my purpose for coming here? Then why don't you tell me, what exactly is my purpose?"
The man in black slightly raised the corners of his mouth, revealing an inscrutable smile as he slowly replied, "You are here simply to seek the legendary 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual.'"
Upon hearing this, Su Mu's doubts deepened. He widened his eyes in disbelief and pressed on, "How do you know I am looking for the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual'?"
The man in black gently shook his head and explained seriously, "The 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual' possesses immense power and should never fall into the hands of any individual, not even someone like me who is unworthy of such a treasure."
However, Su Mu scoffed at this notion because the so-called ultimate manual had been quietly resting in his embrace all along, and he had never sensed any extraordinary power within it.
Thus, Su Mu questioned the man in black without reservation: "You keep insisting that the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual' is incredibly powerful, yet it is right here in my hands, and I don't feel anything special about it!"
The man in black clearly did not expect such a response from Su Mu; a hint of surprise crossed his face.
After a brief pause, as if quickly contemplating something in his mind, he fixed his gaze on Su Mu and commanded firmly, "Since you insist that the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual' is in your possession, then hurry up and take it out for me to see!"
Su Mu hesitated for a moment but eventually retrieved the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual' from his bosom. The man in black took the manual and carefully flipped through its pages, revealing a look of shock on his face.
"This... is this really the legendary 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual'?" The man in black's eyes widened with disbelief as he muttered with a trembling voice.
He held the yellowed ancient text as if it were an extraordinary treasure while simultaneously feeling immense confusion and bewilderment.
"But why does the power emanating from it seem so weak? It’s almost like a candle flickering in the wind!" Su Mu leaned closer to examine the mysterious medical compendium, furrowing his brow as he spoke to himself with growing doubt.
He had originally placed high hopes on this 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual,' expecting to gain powerful medical knowledge and miraculous abilities from it; however, what lay before him was far from his imagination.
"Could it be that this 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual,' which I obtained after so much effort, is actually fake?"
With that thought, Su Mu's heart sank to the depths of despair, disappointment evident on his face.
He stared blankly at the medical compendium in his hands, confusion and helplessness filling his gaze.
At that moment, the man in black, who had remained silent until now, slowly shook his head and said firmly, "No, this 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual' is indeed genuine; it's just that its immense power is currently sealed."
"Sealed?" Hearing this word made Su Mu's heart skip a beat as he hurriedly asked, "Who sealed its power? And for what purpose?"
The man in black let out a deep sigh, then looked up towards the distance, seemingly lost in a distant memory.
After a while, he slowly spoke, "The one who sealed its power was the previous guardian of the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual.'"
"Guardian?" Su Mu's heart stirred, and a series of questions flashed through his mind.
He gazed at the man in black and tentatively asked, "So, my grandfather sealed it? He was the first guardian of the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual'?"
The man in black slightly nodded, indicating his agreement.
His gaze became deep and serious as he solemnly stated, "Currently, I am the present guardian tasked with protecting the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual.'
My duty is to ensure that this Medical Compendium does not fall into the hands of wicked individuals, to prevent it from causing great disasters and harm."
Upon hearing these words, Su Mu couldn't help but feel a surge of respect.
He looked at the resolute face and upright posture of the man before him, feeling an indescribable sense of admiration and emotion welling up inside him.
At that moment, he finally understood that this man in black was not the enemy he had previously thought; on the contrary, he had been silently fulfilling his sacred duty to protect the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual.'
"Do you know how to unlock the seal of the 'Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual'?" Su Mu asked.
