After bidding farewell to the Snow Woman, Su Mu and the mysterious man in black resolutely embarked on the arduous journey to find the Earth Spirit.
Before them lay a vast, boundless misty forest, aptly named, shrouded year-round in a thick fog that rendered visibility astonishingly low throughout the entire area.
Su Mu and the man in black treaded carefully through this eerie forest, as if walking on thin ice.
The surrounding trees towered high, piercing the clouds as if trying to break through the heavens; their lush branches intertwined like enormous sunshades, completely obscuring the sky and allowing only a few faint rays of light to filter through.
The ground was carpeted with a thick layer of dry, yellow leaves, and with each step they took, a rustling sound echoed beneath their feet, as if the ancient forest were whispering secrets.
“Be extra cautious!” the man in black warned gravely. “This misty forest is no ordinary place; it is home to all sorts of fierce and venomous creatures, and it conceals many unknown and unpredictable dangers. A moment’s carelessness could lead us to an irreversible fate.” Hearing this, Su Mu nodded solemnly, understanding the gravity of their situation.
He tightened his grip on the Shimmering Sword in his hand, his eyes sharp as an eagle’s, constantly scanning their surroundings for any signs of movement.
However, despite their carefulness, the dense fog acted like an insurmountable barrier, mercilessly blocking their line of sight.
In this vast sea of mist, they had nearly lost all sense of direction, relying solely on their limited and vague perception to navigate forward.
Time passed quietly without their notice, yet neither had discovered even a trace of the Earth Spirit.
“Alas, this misty forest is far too expansive,” Su Mu sighed, a frown creasing his brow. “With no clues and blindly searching like this, our hopes seem bleak. Finding the Earth Spirit will not be easy.”
“Indeed,” the man in black nodded slowly, his expression serious. “We urgently need to find some crucial clues; otherwise, completing this mission will be difficult.” Just as he finished speaking, a faint but distinct rustling sound suddenly drifted from nearby.
The sound seemed to indicate that something was rapidly moving through the grass, causing a tightening sensation in their chests.
"What is that sound?" Su Mu asked, his face displaying shock as he turned to the source of the noise, nervously inquiring of the man in black beside him.
"Be careful!" The man in black warned, his gaze sharp as he lowered his voice.
Without hesitation, the two quickly moved toward the sound.
As they drew closer, the surrounding fog thickened, greatly obstructing their vision.
However, they did not stop; instead, they cautiously pushed aside the heavy mist with their hands.
Finally, through layers of dense fog, an astonishing sight appeared before them—a massive python coiled around a towering tree.
The giant python's body was as thick as a barrel, covered in dazzling, multicolored scales that shimmered under the faint light, emitting a strange and brilliant glow.
What was most striking were its crimson eyes, resembling burning flames, radiating a fierce and brutal coldness that sent shivers down their spines.
"It’s actually a Mist Python!" The man in black exclaimed in shock, his voice filled with astonishment and apprehension. "This is an extremely dangerous magical beast; its venom is exceptionally potent and can kill a person in an instant."
"I see..." Su Mu furrowed his brow and nodded thoughtfully. He understood that this encounter meant they were about to face a life-and-death battle.
After all, the Mist Python before them was not only enormous but also possessed immense strength.
Moreover, they were deep within the Misty Forest, where the environment was complex and ever-changing. The thick fog provided the python with significant advantages. Defeating it and obtaining the Earth Spirit would not be an easy task.
With a flickering crimson tongue, the Mist Python hissed, sensing the hostility from Su Mu and the man in black. It suddenly lunged down from the tree, its massive body striking like lightning towards Su Mu and the man.
Both Su Mu and the man in black were prepared; they swiftly dodged while drawing their weapons, ready to engage in battle.
Su Mu's swordsmanship was fierce, while the man in black wielded his palm techniques with great strength. Together, they launched an intense fight against the Mist Python. The creature was immensely powerful, with tough skin and thick flesh; Su Mu's sword only left shallow scratches on its body. The Mist Python retaliated with ferocious attacks, its massive tail sweeping through the air with a howling wind. Su Mu and the man in black dared not take it head-on and could only keep dodging.
In the misty forest, thick fog obscured their vision, complicating the battle further. Relying on their keen senses, Su Mu and the man in black maneuvered through the fog while contending with the Mist Python.
The fight dragged on for quite some time, draining both sides of considerable stamina. Su Mu and the man in black gradually felt overwhelmed, while the Mist Python also sustained significant injuries, its movements beginning to slow.
Seizing the opportunity, Su Mu unleashed a set of sword techniques recorded in the Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual. The blade shimmered like silver serpents dancing wildly, enveloping the Mist Python within. The creature let out a piercing shriek before its enormous body collapsed to the ground.
After the Mist Python fell, a pure yellow energy emanated from its body, coalescing into a crystal-clear orb—the Earth Spirit.
Su Mu stepped forward and collected the Earth Spirit into his possession.
"Finally obtained the Earth Spirit," Su Mu said, a hint of satisfaction in his voice.
"Next, we can unlock the seal of the Heavenly Secrets Medical Manual," replied the man in black.
They left the misty forest and continued on their journey.
