Liang Shanshan's words resonated with everyone. It seemed unlikely that someone as mysterious as Mr. Jiang could be just a college student, especially not one who was classmates with someone like Cheng Xiang. In everyone's minds, a young and powerful figure like Jiang Chen must have had an extraordinary past, where every moment was filled with stories. Yet, Cheng Xiang claimed that Mr. Jiang was once unknown—how could that be?
Someone like Mr. Jiang shone like the moon in a dark night sky; no matter how low-key he tried to be, his brilliance could not be hidden.
“I’m sure it’s him,” Cheng Xiang asserted confidently.
“Whether it’s him or not is just talk unless you meet Mr. Jiang. As long as Mr. Jiang recognizes you, we will naturally believe you,” Liang Shanshan replied.
“I don’t want to meet him,” Cheng Xiang refused.
“Come on, since you’re here, it’s no big deal to meet him. Let’s go; I’ll take you over,” Liang Shanshan said suddenly, pulling Cheng Xiang along. Cheng Xiang struggled but couldn’t break free.
“Just go meet him,” Hu Lin and the others chimed in, eager for the spectacle, though they were skeptical.
With Liang Shanshan determined to drag Cheng Xiang to see Jiang Chen, there was no escaping it for her. Liang Shanshan pressed on a pressure point on Cheng Xiang's shoulder, and her body instantly lost strength, forcing her to follow Liang Shanshan to meet Jiang Chen.
Liang Shanshan had an idea in mind; since she couldn’t find a suitable reason to approach Mr. Jiang herself, perhaps Cheng Xiang could be an opportunity. Even if Cheng Xiang was indeed an enemy of Mr. Jiang, finding an enemy for him would still count as an achievement.
Cheng Xiang had no idea that Liang Shanshan was planning to use her for personal gain.
In the valley, a gentle breeze blew, and the lake rippled softly. Jiang Chen and his group stood on the rocky shore, watching Shangguan Yao in the water.
Shangguan Yao stood on a piece of wood in the water, seemingly trying to intimidate Ye Ling. If Ye Ling lacked the ability to stand in the water, she wouldn’t qualify to challenge him.
“Miss Ling, Shangguan Yao has already reached the Transcendent Realm. He is rarely matched in this world and is known for his cunning and ruthless tactics. His willingness to challenge you here indicates he has made preparations; be careful—I fear he may resort to trickery,” Wu Taitian warned Ye Ling.
“Thank you for the reminder, senior; I will be cautious,” Ye Ling replied with a slight smile, expressing her gratitude.
Wu Taitian nodded and glanced at Jiang Chen, who stood by the lake with his hands clasped behind his back, seemingly admiring the scenery of the Mirror Valley.
Suddenly, a group of over ten people approached.
Wu Taitian and the others instinctively turned to look and saw that they were from the Xuan Yin Sect. Wu Taitian frowned slightly; these people were quite bold to come and curry favor with Mr. Jiang.
“Sect Master Liang, Mr. Jiang probably doesn’t have time to see you right now,” Wu Taitian said politely as he blocked their way.
“Elder Wu, it’s not that we want to see Mr. Jiang; it’s this young lady who wishes to meet him. She claims to have a connection with Mr. Jiang’s sister from their school days, and we are here to verify that,” Liang Xianliang said with a cupped fist gesture.
Upon hearing this, Wu Taitian looked at Cheng Xiang, who at that moment dared not lift her head and remained silent with her gaze lowered.
Wu Taitian knew better than to take this lightly; since she was a friend of Mr. Jiang's, it was best for Mr. Jiang himself to handle this situation.
“Follow me,” Wu Taitian instructed as he led Cheng Xiang and the others behind Jiang Chen.
"Mr. Jiang, there is a young lady who wishes to see you. She claims to be an old classmate of your sister," Wu Taitian said respectfully, standing behind Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen withdrew his gaze from the picturesque scenery and turned to face the people from Xuan Yin Sect, finally resting his eyes on Cheng Xiang.
"Cheng Xiang, long time no see. Last time I heard from Liu Hui, you were still inquiring about my whereabouts. I wonder what brings you here?" Jiang Chen spoke with a faint smile, his tone calm, devoid of anger or the joy typically associated with a long-lost friend’s reunion.
Upon hearing Jiang Chen's words, the expressions of those present became somewhat strange and unnatural.
Chen Jihau and the others were naturally astonished; they never expected this enigmatic Mr. Jiang to actually know Cheng Xiang.
Cheng Xiang felt her heart crumble as she slowly raised her head. All her stubbornness and struggles fell apart in that moment.
"It's nothing, really. I just wanted to organize a university class reunion," Cheng Xiang said awkwardly.
"Perhaps next time," Jiang Chen replied with a smile. He was well aware of Cheng Xiang's intentions but found her type unworthy of his effort. Dealing with someone like Cheng Xiang didn’t even require his intervention.
The true extent of Jiang Chen's power was unknown even to Liu Hui and Wang He Bing; now, however, Cheng Xiang was the first to discover it. This was for the best, as it would save her from constantly plotting revenge. A person of Jiang Chen's caliber had no interest in settling scores with her. In truth, Cheng Xiang was somewhat pitiable; she had always aspired to ascend into high society and become an object of envy, yet she had unfortunately crossed paths with Jiang Chen.
Cheng Xiang forced a smile and nodded. She had calculated everything except for this unexpected encounter with Jiang Chen. Her heart was filled with anxiety, and her demeanor was restless. Although Jiang Chen appeared to harbor no animosity towards her, she could not find peace within herself.
Liang Shanshan could not fathom Jiang Chen's thoughts, but given the current situation, it seemed that even if Mr. Jiang had past grievances with Cheng Xiang, he would not hold them against her now. After all, at Mr. Jiang's level, how could he possibly concern himself with someone like Cheng Xiang?
