Should I go to the appointment? 0

This is a society filled with danger. Anyone with even a slight sense of self-protection, especially girls, would never easily go to a stranger's home alone. 0

Yet after a whole day, my mind was in chaos. Detective Huo's narration on the phone echoed in my head, the scene of the murder where X swung an axe at A's head replayed vividly, along with many trivial matters that had happened before. These events intertwined without any pattern, suffocating me. 0

By evening, I finally made up my mind: I would visit V's house and meet him. If I didn't express the experiences I've had these past few days, if I didn't release the fear and anxiety building up inside me, I would eventually go mad. 0

V is a stranger, someone who has no connection to my life; confiding in him seemed like the best option. 0

So I arrived at V's place and met him. 0

Before this, I had imagined what V would look like, but the reality was completely different from my expectations. 0

V was a young man around twenty years old, about five foot seven, with messy hair and vacant eyes. Although he had a lean face and attractive features, his blank expression, peculiar movements, and disheveled appearance made him seem utterly strange. 0

In V's room, we sat facing each other. 0

We sat there in silence, neither of us speaking, creating an awkward atmosphere. 0

Suddenly, V scratched his head and pulled out a transparent plastic bag from his pocket filled with various soft candies. He casually grabbed a few pieces and exaggeratedly chewed them. 0

I glanced at him. He asked, "Do you want to eat?" 0

I waved my hand, "Thank you, but I’m not hungry." 0

He replied with a simple "Oh," then said flatly, "Tell me about the murder case you experienced that night. Don’t leave out any details." 0

I nodded, took a deep breath, and began to recount, "My name is Zhang Minyin, and I am a department head at a cosmetics company. A few nights ago, after I had dinner, I received a text message from our company’s executive director—let’s refer to him as Mr. A for now..." Half an hour later, I had shared everything that happened before the police arrived that night without holding back. 0

After I finished, he seemed unresponsive, staring blankly at the floor. 0

So I continued, "When the police arrived, they unlocked the company’s front door. Since Mr. A’s body was lying right next to the entrance, they were cautious as they opened the door, afraid of disturbing the crime scene. 0

"Mr. B, Ms. C, and I informed the police that the suspect, Mr. X, had entered the executive director's office and had not come out since. All three of us could confirm that Mr. X was still in the office at that moment. Because of our statements, the officers became alert, gripping their guns as they cautiously approached the office. 0

"However, the gunfight we imagined never happened. Although Mr. X was indeed in that office, he did not resist. In fact, he couldn’t resist anymore because he was already dead—he had hanged himself. 0

"Yes, when the police kicked open the door to the executive director's office, they found Mr. X hanging there in a raincoat and mask. It turned out that after killing Mr. A, he had gone into the office to commit suicide. 0

"When they removed Mr. X's mask, it turned out he was a man in his early thirties! Later investigations revealed that our executive director Mr. A had taken away Mr. X's girlfriend. Heartbroken over losing her and filled with intense hatred towards Mr. A, this was likely Mr. X's motive for murder. 0

"Additionally, there were a set of bloody footprints leading from the glass front door of the company to the executive director's office and beneath Mr. X’s feet. The police deduced that after killing Mr. A and getting blood all over himself, when Mr. X discarded the axe and walked toward the office, his shoes picked up Mr. A’s blood, leaving behind those bloody footprints. Forensic analysis confirmed that the footprints matched Mr. X's shoes and that the blood belonged to Mr. A. 0

"At this point in the investigation, this brutal murder case was essentially solved. After killing Mr. A to relieve his own anguish over losing his girlfriend—who he realized had moved on—Mr. X likely felt hopeless about escaping legal consequences for his actions and chose to end his own life, thus closing the chapter on this murder case." 0

I sighed deeply after I finished speaking and turned to V, asking, "What are your thoughts?" 0
