At this point in the story, Zhao Yi Ye was already in tears, leaning on Yang Wenyan's shoulder and sobbing uncontrollably.
"Yi Ye, please don't do this. Seeing you so sad makes my heart ache like it's being cut by a knife!"
"On the night my sister passed away in the hospital, I cried all night! The next day, my brother-in-law sneaked into my room. He already knew about my sister's death. I could see how much he was suffering. I deliberately told him that my sister's soul had attached itself to my body. From the moment I said those words, I knew that Zhao Yi Ye had disappeared from this world! From that day on, in front of my brother-in-law, I had to play the role of my sister. My sister and brother-in-law had a unique 'secret language' since they were young, which she had never told anyone else but had only mentioned to me in secret. Sure enough! After I made a gesture that only they would recognize, my brother-in-law believed me! I was extremely nervous, afraid he would see through any flaws! My sister and I had always been inseparable friends since childhood, so mimicking her every word and action wasn't too difficult for me! At that time, my brother-in-law was still immersed in the sorrow of the accident, and he didn't question many of my unusual behaviors. Thus, we reached a secret agreement: in front of others, I would still be Zhao Yi Ye. Only when we were alone would I become Zhao Yizhi! For the past five years, I have lived in constant torment. On one hand, I had to deal with your dates; on the other hand, I had to fulfill the promise I made to my sister! I set a deadline for myself of fifteen years! After fifteen years, I hope to free myself from this painful feeling and start living again! I believe that fifteen years will be enough for my brother-in-law to emerge from the shadow of the accident!"
"Yi Ye, what do you mean by that?"
"Let's break up."
Yang Wenyan's body trembled involuntarily. Why did it have to end like this?
"I will wait for you until you change your mind." Yang Wenyan struggled to control his emotions, but his voice trembled uncontrollably.
"Ten years. We agreed on ten years! If after ten years you are still unmarried, maybe we can start over!"
"Ten years? I'll wait for you!"
"Don't be foolish. I want you to be happy, Wenyan!"
"What happiness can I have without you?"
"Wenyan, don't you understand? I'm no longer the Zhao Yi Ye you loved!"
"I don't care; I will keep waiting." After saying this, Yang Wenyan resolutely turned around and walked away in the direction he came from.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" The woman, tears streaming down her face, kept silently repeating those three words in her heart.
The gray sky had unknowingly begun to drizzle, the rain falling softly and silently.
A lonely woman walked through the pouring rain, stumbling and crying without a sound. Her face was smeared with what could have been tears or raindrops, yet a smile lingered at the corners of her mouth.
After the divorce, He Jiayue sat alone in the empty room, feeling utterly bored.
This room held too many beautiful memories; fragments of the past with his wife replayed in his mind like scenes from a movie.
Back then, the three children went to school together and played together. Although many times Zhao Yi Ye merely followed her sister like a little shadow, the three of them had formed an unbreakable little group. As time passed, the children grew up and entered their teenage years. Zhao Yizhi was the first to show signs of change. She became more concerned about her appearance and would blush when speaking to He Jiayue. That unique shyness of a young girl left the young He Jiayue bewildered. He even secretly laughed with his younger sister Zhao Yi Ye about Yizhi's strange transformation. However, gradually, He Jiayue noticed a subtle shift in his relationship with Yizhi; they were no longer as open with each other as before, becoming more polite instead. This change troubled He Jiayue; he didn't know where the problem lay. He was afraid to meet Yizhi's gaze filled with emotion.
Slowly, he began spending more time with Yi Ye. That silly little girl truly regarded He Jiayue as her own brother.
Time flew by, and everyone grew up. The reckless youth matured into a steady adult, while the shy girl transformed into a charming and sophisticated woman. Even the youngest sister began to experience love.
He Jiayue suddenly felt that his life had already been predetermined! Everyone believed that he and his sister Zhao Yizhi were the perfect couple! Both families agreed to their marriage without any objections. That silly little sister ran over to congratulate him, blushing with joy. Yet no one cared about the feelings of this soon-to-be groom!
Yi Ye proposed a plan for an outing, which received enthusiastic support from sister Yizhi. They could never have imagined that at this very moment, the heart of their groom was nearly bleeding.
On that bright spring day, everyone laughed so joyfully!
The poor driver focused entirely on the two passengers in the back seat, oblivious to the jealousy etched on his face.
If it weren't for that damned wild boar, perhaps everything that followed would never have happened.
If only the bride-to-be beside him could disappear from this world! How could he harbor such malicious thoughts!
The opportunity soon arrived! He slammed on the gas and charged toward the shadow! The beast, startled, abandoned its original path and lunged straight toward Fang He.
As he saw the shadow rushing toward him, instinctively, he maneuvered Fang He into a position that would benefit him.
The passenger seat had always been a seat of death; Zhao Yizhi's death was undoubtedly an accident.
That silly girl, Zhao Yi Ye, actually thought she had become her sister and spoke of soul possession in madness.
For the next fifteen years, He Jiayue felt as if he were dreaming, finally able to be with the woman he loved. Sometimes, he would feel guilty; in the middle of the night, nightmares would wake him up, and he would sit there blankly, staring at the woman beside him. He couldn't believe he had truly sent his childhood companion down a path of no return while still playing the role of a heartbroken lover. People are selfish, aren't they?
When he heard that sentence come from Zhao Yi Ye's lips, he knew it was over; he would ultimately lose her.
Fifteen years later, Zhao Yi Ye awakened!
He wanted to laugh; her clumsy tricks amused him. But he couldn't bring himself to smile.
When he saw Zhao Yi Ye in her wedding dress, along with that familiar code of love, he couldn't help but stumble toward the newlyweds. He wanted to hold Yi Ye's hand one last time; he feared there would never be another chance.
He Jiayue felt weak all over, as if drained of strength. In a daze, he seemed to see Zhao Yizhi waving at him! He couldn't help but slowly walk toward that image...
