"Hidden Order? What is the Hidden Order?" Li Yunye asked, puzzled.
"It's the legendary Hidden Order from Europe. Sixty years ago, the infamous Mothman was said to be a creature that emerged from the Hidden Order," Yan Qingsong explained.
"Mothman?" Upon hearing this name, memories flooded back to Li Yunye, scenes from sixty years ago replaying vividly in his mind.
Sixty years ago, Li Yunye was young and a prodigy in both martial arts and Daoist Techniques, holding a significant position in both the American Martial Arts community and the realm of supernatural abilities. Despite his youth, he was highly respected, and at that time, he felt somewhat arrogant, considering American Martial Arts and those with supernatural powers to be beneath him.
However, everything changed when Mothman appeared, wreaking havoc among practitioners of American Martial Arts and those with supernatural abilities. Chaos ensued in the American Martial Arts community, and fear spread like wildfire. Eventually, the martial arts community and the realm of supernatural abilities united against Mothman. At that time, Li Yunye was riding high on his success and dismissed Mothman as a threat.
But soon enough, he realized he was mistaken. Mothman was a true monster, sporting moth-like wings and possessing terrifying strength. After just one exchange with Mothman, Li Yunye was left bleeding; had it not been for the sheer number of people on his side at that moment, they would have been unable to fend off Mothman, and he might have died.
After that encounter, Mothman vanished without a trace and had not been seen for many years. Although it no longer appeared, Mothman became a nightmare for practitioners of American Martial Arts and those with supernatural abilities. After all, Mothman had not died; it had merely been injured and vowed to return for revenge. Following extensive investigations—some even involving the United States government—it was eventually discovered that Mothman was a failed experiment from the Hidden Order that had escaped and unleashed chaos in the United States.
It was then that Li Yunye first heard about the Hidden Order. If a failed experiment like Mothman could be so powerful, one could only imagine how formidable the Hidden Order itself must be.
Since that incident, Li Yunye's demeanor became more composed as he dedicated himself to studying martial arts and Daoist Techniques. As for Mothman, despite its threats of revenge, sixty years had passed without any news; rumors suggested it had either died or been recaptured by members of the Hidden Order. Regardless of what happened, Mothman no longer appeared, and most of those who had participated in the siege against it had since passed away. Few were left who remembered those events; even Li Yunye had nearly forgotten them.
"Brother Yunye, do you remember now?" Yan Qingsong asked when he noticed Li Yunye's serious expression as he pondered.
Li Yunye nodded.
"What does the Hidden Order have to do with us?" he asked solemnly.
"I've heard that the Hidden Order is planning to enter society and is looking for partners," Yan Qingsong replied.
"Partners? They've always been secretive and powerful; do they really need to find someone to collaborate with?" Li Yunye questioned in confusion.
"It seems they need funding—at least several billion dollars. Only a handful of families on Earth can afford to partner with them," Yan Qingsong explained.
"Several billion dollars? Ha! There are hardly any companies on Earth worth several billion dollars; I doubt anyone would want to collaborate with them. They should seek out nations instead; I'm sure any country in Europe would be willing to provide them with funding," Li Yunye remarked dismissively. He held a negative view of the Hidden Order; for some reason, it made him feel inexplicably tense. Even after gaining immense fortune from Jiang Chen's intervention, he still lacked the courage to confront the Hidden Order or even face their experiment, Mothman.
Sixty years ago, the Hidden Order created an experiment like Mothman; who knows what powerful monsters they might have produced over these years?
In any case, Li Yunye harbored a strong dislike for the Hidden Order.
"The purpose of the Hidden Order is to remain a civilian organization; they don't wish to get involved with any nation. If they enter society now, it could greatly impact the world. After all, many historical scientists were members of the Hidden Order.
Li Yunye's expression was serious as he pondered something. After a while, he turned to Yan Qingsong.
"Are you looking to collaborate with the Hidden Order?" Li Yunye asked.
"Indeed, that is my intention. I came to discuss this with Brother Yunye. If we can collaborate with the Hidden Order, it would be immensely beneficial for us at Hongmen," Yan Qingsong replied with a smile.
"We don't know much about the Hidden Order. I think we should postpone any collaboration for now. Besides, Hongmen doesn't have enough funds to partner with the Hidden Order," Li Yunye said.
"We may not have much, but we can scrape together one billion dollars. If we partner with the Hidden Order and have them as our backing, we wouldn't need to pay Mr. Jiang's seventy billion dollars at all. In fact, we could even reclaim the thirty billion dollars we've already paid. Brother Yunye, who do you think is more formidable, Mr. Jiang or the Hidden Order?" Yan Qingsong said with a grin.
Li Yunye frowned, his expression complex. Although he had great confidence in Jiang Chen, he couldn't underestimate the Hidden Order. If it were just Mr. Jiang alone, he probably wouldn't stand a chance against the Hidden Order.
"Brother Yunye, Mr. Jiang isn't here right now, so you need not worry. There is no force in this world that can rival the Hidden Order. Giving money to Mr. Jiang brings no benefit to us at Hongmen, but if we invest that money into collaborating with the Hidden Order, we will become their partners and surely gain access to some of their secrets and resources. Building a good relationship with them will certainly benefit Hongmen's future development," Yan Qingsong said earnestly.
"Have you already made contact with the Hidden Order?" Li Yunye asked, sensing that persuading Yan Qingsong would be futile; after all, he was the leader of Hongmen.
"Not yet, but I should be able to make contact soon. When that happens, Brother Yunye, you must come with me," Yan Qingsong said cheerfully.
"Of course! I've long wanted to witness this Hidden Order," Li Yunye replied with a smile that carried an unprecedented seriousness.
"Ahem, Brother Yunye, I hope you won't mention anything about the Hidden Order to Mr. Jiang," Yan Qingsong hesitated before jokingly suggesting.
"Rest assured, while Mr. Jiang has granted me great fortune, I am still a member of Hongmen and will naturally consider its interests," Li Yunye said somewhat displeased, feeling as though he was being portrayed as a traitor to Hongmen.
"Haha, that's good to hear!" Yan Qingsong laughed heartily.
