The water in the pool was cool, and I kept swimming, trying to dispel the restlessness in my heart. 0

"Xu Ke." Zhou Shaojun's voice came from the edge of the pool. 0

"What are you doing swimming at this hour?" 0

I didn't turn around, continuing to float. 0

"It's hot, I can't sleep." 0

He crouched down, reaching out to pull me up. 0

"The water's too cold; you’ll catch a cold. Come on, let me help you out." 0

I suddenly shook off his hand, splashing water everywhere. 0

"I don't need your help!" 0

I silently climbed out of the pool, wrapped myself in a towel, and walked past him without stopping. 0

He followed me, reaching out as if to wrap his arms around my waist. 0

"Don't touch me," I said coldly, stepping away. 0

"What’s going on with you these days? You canceled the endorsement event and won’t answer my calls." He frowned, a flicker of displeasure in his eyes. 0

"I'm not feeling well lately." 0

"The brand event next week is a must-attend; it's crucial for the cooperation between our two families!" 0

Zhou Shaojun grabbed my wrist. 0

I let out a cold laugh and turned away. 0

"Crucial? Crucial for whom?!" 0

I recalled his intimacy with Chen Jiayi on the dance floor, and how he had called me a nouveau riche in the lounge. 0

"I doubt a nouveau riche like me could ever be worthy of someone like you, Young Master," I said sarcastically. 0

"Why not pursue Miss Chen instead? You two are more suited for each other." 0

Zhou Shaojun's expression changed instantly. "Who told you that?" 0

"I heard it with my own ears," I replied, meeting his gaze. 0

"Outside the lounge at the cocktail party, I overheard your conversation with Dong Chao and the others." 0

Zhou Shaojun fell silent for a moment. 0

"That was just a joke among friends." 0

"The union of our families is important; we are well-suited. Chen Jiayi is merely a business partner." 0

"Well-suited? Yes, I am just a stepping stone for you to enter the capital circle!" 0

I felt my emotions teetering on the edge of collapse. 0

I took off the engagement ring and threw it at him. 0

"Keep your ring; don't waste it on a nouveau riche." 0

"Ke Ke, let me explain..." 0

At that moment, Zhou Shaojun's phone rang. 0

He hurriedly answered, his expression growing increasingly grim. 0

"What? The funds have been cut off? Who approved that?" he asked anxiously. 0

"I'll head back right away." 0

After hanging up, he stared at me. 0

"Did your father withdraw the investment?" 0

"Maybe," I scoffed. "After all, the money of a nouveau riche lacks taste." 0

"Xu Ke, don't be impulsive." He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. 0

"We can talk about this." 0

"There's nothing to discuss." I turned and walked toward the bathroom. 0

"Please leave." 0

Hearing the sound of the door closing, I finally let out a sigh of relief. 0

The phone screen lit up, buzzing with a notification from social media. 0

I opened it to find that Chen Jiayi had tagged me. 0

"My boyfriend's heartfelt gift ♥ Thank you, darling! I absolutely love this 'beloved' piece!" 0

The accompanying image was of a limited edition Cartier necklace. 0

It was the very one I had wanted for Zhou Shaojun's birthday last month, but he had refused to buy it for me, claiming it was "too expensive." 0

The comments were filled with blessings. 0

How ironic. 0

I tossed my phone onto the sofa. 0

I stood up and walked into the closet. 0

I began clearing out all the things Zhou Shaojun had given me. 0

Bags, shoes, jewelry, perfume... 0

I threw them forcefully into a garbage bag to avoid the irritation they caused me. 0

Then I picked up my phone to email my advisor in the United States, confirming my enrollment for next week. 0

During my free time, I messaged Mu Mu. 0

"I've already booked my flight. I'm leaving the day after tomorrow." 0

"I'll come over to help you pack. Are you sure you don't want to tell Zhou Shaojun?" 0

"No need. My dad has already pulled out of the Zhou family's overseas project. He'll find out." 0

On the day of my departure, I refused to let Mu Mu see me off and went to the airport alone. 0

The VIP lounge at the airport was spacious and quiet. I sat in a corner waiting for check-in. 0

At that moment, Zhou Shaojun walked into the lounge alongside Chen Jiayi, their heads leaning together in a familiar manner. 0

Zhou Shaojun even kindly took her luggage for her. 0

"The funding for that Xu Family project is crucial," I heard Chen Jiayi's voice clearly. 0

"You have to deal with Xu Ke; otherwise, there will be no overseas investment." 0

My gaze met Zhou Shaojun's in the air, and he seemed taken aback. 0

He hurriedly left Chen Jiayi and strode toward the restroom. 0

A moment later, an unfamiliar number called me. 0

"Xu Ke, don't be willful," Zhou Shaojun's voice was cold. 0

"Your father withdrawing his investment is a fatal blow to the Zhou family. You know what I will do." 0

"What do you mean?" 0

"I have evidence of the Xu family's shady dealings over the years. If you dare to leave, I will expose it." 0

I pressed the recording button. "Are you threatening me?" 0

"I'm just reminding you not to ruin your future. Come back and continue your endorsement." 0

"Zhou Shaojun, I'm keeping this recording. If you make a move, I'll make it public." 0

I hung up and immediately blocked him. 0

Before boarding, I saw Zhou Shaojun and Chen Jiayi hurriedly leaving. 0

Chen Jiayi was clearly complaining about something, while Zhou Shaojun's face was ashen. 0

We headed toward different boarding gates. 0

Just as we were walking toward different futures. 0
