"You are right," Zou Xingjing nodded. "Among the police officers who were following Wang Jian, one of them saw a girl slip a note into Wang Jian's hand while she was drinking with him, just five minutes before he left the bar. Later, we examined the note and found Wang Jian's fingerprints on it, but there were no fingerprints from the girl. It's likely that she was wearing a pair of transparent gloves when she handed the note to him. Furthermore, since we still haven't found that girl, we can't determine whether the handwriting on the note matches hers."
"And then?" Song Nian asked.
Zou Xingjing took another sip of water. "After my colleagues found the note, they sensed something was off. They called me to inform me while also searching for Wang Jian in the alley behind KK Bar. However, when they arrived at the alley, they found it completely empty."
"He must have left!" Song Nian said.
"After that, while I was on my way, they searched the area for any trace of Wang Jian but found nothing. Once I arrived at the scene and joined them in the search for over an hour, we finally located Wang Jian in a secluded alley nearby. But by the time we found him, he was already dead."
Upon hearing this, Song Nian clenched his teeth.
Zou Xingjing took a breath and continued, "The autopsy report just came out: Wang Jian's time of death was between three-thirty and four-thirty this morning, which coincides with the time we were searching for him. He was likely killed shortly before we discovered his body. The cause of death was asphyxiation due to pressure on his neck."
"So he was strangled?" Song Nian asked.
"Yes, it appears the weapon was something like a wire. When we found Wang Jian's body, we noticed bruising and petechiae on his face, and there were marks on his throat consistent with being strangled by wire."
"Are there any other clues?" Song Nian inquired again.
"There are four additional clues: First, there were several long strands of hair clutched in Wang Jian's hand; second, similar to what happened with Shen Zhi's murder, there were no fingerprints or evidence left at the crime scene aside from the hair in Wang Jian's hand; third, our investigation revealed that Wang Jian had a habit of going to KK Bar alone every Monday to drink and dance with unfamiliar women before taking them to nearby hotels..."
Before Zou Xingjing could finish speaking, Song Nian interjected, "So, this is likely a premeditated murder case. The killer is the girl who handed the note to Wang Jian. She must have known that Wang Jian goes to KK Bar every Monday, so she deliberately came here tonight to lure him out with the note, leading him to a secluded alley where she strangled him with a wire."
"Yes, that's our analysis as well. After the incident, we found that there was a small amount of drug placed in Wang Jian's drink. I suspect that the girl who gave him the note took advantage of his distraction to slip the drug into his cup. She did this to incapacitate him when she strangled him."
Song Nian nodded and asked, "Have you identified whose hair was found on Wang Jian's hands?"
"We have. It belongs to a girl named Xiao Wanshan."
"Xiao Wanshan? Who is she?" Song Nian scratched his head.
"She is a twenty-four-year-old girl and the marketing manager at a 4S dealership in the city."
"Oh?" Song Nian frowned. "How did Wang Jian end up with her hair? Could she be the murderer? Did he pull out some of her hair while trying to resist as she was strangling him?"
"Yes, that's a possibility. Additionally, I've uncovered something else."
Song Nian glanced at his watch. "It's not even eight yet. It's only been a few hours since the incident, and you've managed to find out so much? Your efficiency is impressive."
At Song Nian's praise, Zou Xingjing showed no sign of joy; instead, he shook his head and sighed, "I'm just trying to fix our mistakes. If it weren't for our oversight, Wang Jian wouldn't have been killed."
Noticing Zou Xingjing's self-reproachful expression, Song Nian quickly changed the subject. "So, what else did you find out?"
"Do you remember I mentioned yesterday that Wang Jian was once suspected of fraud and was brought into the police station?"
"Remember."
"According to my colleague, he tricked an elderly man into buying some so-called 'rare and precious medicinal materials.' The old man paid hundreds of thousands for them, which was all his life savings!
"Everyone knows that this was done by Wang Jian, but without evidence, they had no choice but to let him go. The old man's hundreds of thousands could not be recovered. He was deeply troubled by this and fell ill, passing away two months ago."
