Zou Xingjing listened to Song Nian's lengthy explanation, feeling a bit confused. He fell silent, taking time to seriously consider Song Nian's words. “It was deliberately left there by Xiao Wanshan to frame Wang Jian,” Zou Xingjing replied.
“But wasn’t she planning to kill Wang Jian the day after killing Shen Zhi? What would be the point of framing him then? If Wang Jian has no alibi for the time when Shen Zhi was killed and gets taken back to the police station, how could Xiao Wanshan proceed with her plan to kill Wang Jian?”

The two fell into silence. After a while, Zou Xingjing finally spoke up, "The situation is getting more chaotic."
"Don't worry," Song Nian reassured him, "Once we find Xiao Wanshan, everything might just turn around."
In fact, their lengthy discussion in the car had been in vain, as Xiao Wanshan had a solid alibi when Wang Jian was murdered.
At the 4S shop where Xiao Wanshan worked, Zou Xingjing and Song Nian found her. After identifying themselves, Zou Xingjing informed her about Wang Jian's murder.

"Miss Xiao," Zou Xingjing gazed at her and asked, "Where were you between three-thirty and four-thirty this morning?"
Xiao Wanshan was taken aback by Zou Xingjing's question and then responded angrily, "Hmph, are you suspecting me of being the murderer?"
"Miss Xiao, please don't misunderstand. We just want to take your statement..."
"Enough with the chatter!" Xiao Wanshan interrupted Zou Xingjing. "Last night I stayed over at my boyfriend's house. We watched movies until after three before turning off the TV. Even after that, we didn't fall asleep right away; we tossed and turned until after four. Besides, my boyfriend was holding me the whole time. If I had wanted to sneak out to kill someone and come back, he would definitely have noticed."
Zou Xingjing and Song Nian exchanged glances, bewildered.
Xiao Wanshan continued, "Also, the building manager where my boyfriend lives can confirm that I didn't leave the building last night. Oh, and there should be surveillance footage at the entrance of that building; you can check it out."
After bidding farewell to Xiao Wanshan, Zou Xingjing immediately dispatched someone to question Xiao Wanshan's boyfriend and the building manager, while also reviewing the surveillance footage from the building. The results confirmed that Xiao Wanshan's testimony was entirely accurate. This meant that at the time Wang Jian was murdered, Xiao Wanshan had a complete alibi. Although she had a motive to kill Wang Jian, she could not possibly be the murderer.
As for the note left by Wang Jian that read, "Will you keep me company tonight? I'll be waiting for you in the alley behind KK Bar," the handwriting did not belong to Xiao Wanshan.
"Not again!" Zou Xingjing gritted his teeth in the car. "Just when we finally caught a lead, we hit another dead end!"
Song Nian's sharp eyebrows furrowed slightly. "What lead are you talking about?"
"Of course, it's the hair of Xiao Wanshan that Wang Jian had clutched in his hand!" Zou Xingjing replied. "I thought it was left behind accidentally during the attack, but it turns out Xiao Wanshan has an alibi!"
Song Nian remained silent, deep in thought.
Zou Xingjing continued, "There were pieces of a black cat found on Shen Zhi's body, and there were also pieces of a black cat on Wang Jian's body. Since they belonged to the same cat, we deduced that the same person committed both murders. But who could it be? Wang Jian couldn't possibly be the murderer; one reason is that he had an alibi when Shen Zhi was killed, and most importantly, the victim of the second murder is Wang Jian himself! He certainly couldn't have committed suicide. As for Xiao Wanshan, she also can't be the culprit because she had an alibi when Wang Jian was killed. "Wait a minute!" Zou Xingjing was interrupted by Song Nian before he could finish.
"What is it?"
"Don't you find the two cases very similar?" Song Nian asked.
